"Mixed Feelings about Brookdale Assisted Living's Amenities and Food"
My dad wanted his own furniture. Only Brookdale got it right. Check other places too. Food budget is small, residents complain of cold meals.

"Disappointing Tour at Brookdale St. Augustine"
My family visited Brookdale St. Augustine for a tour and we didn't have a good time. The smell and lack of light were too much and we weren't happy with anything we saw during the tour.

"Good Room Size and Nursing Care, but Needs More Showers"
We chose Brookdale St. Augustine because of the room size my loved one could get and the 24-hour nursing care. I would tell others they don't give scheduled showers. My loved one is supposed to get three a week, but he usually only gets two. I also think they should have more fun activities.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"
I worry about the care my loved one receives. Although they've made friends, the understaffed community is a concern. Family communication feels frustrating and slow. On the bright side, my loved one enjoys the food.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
The place is alright. Food's not amazing, but it's understandable considering they cook for a lot of people. It's safe for my loved one, and we can take them out whenever. They could tidy up outside more to make it look nicer.

"Mixed Experience at Brookdale St. Augustine Assisted Living"
My mom left because she fell and broke her femur there. Florida rules for memory care require independence, so she couldn't return. While there, a pricey pair of earrings was stolen. The facility is beautiful and well-decorated, but the staff's reliability doesn't match. I appreciated being allowed to install a camera in my mom's room. The management staff were understanding and kind, but the CNAs weren't always compassionate. Despite the challenges, overall it was a decent experience, although shorter than expected.

"Dark Atmosphere Dampened Experience"
This place wasn't our top pick when we checked it out. It's not about the people, they were nice and helpful. It's more about how it looks inside - all gloomy with dark colors. I prefer places that are light and cheerful.

"Nice Community but Not Perfect Fit for Loved One"
I visited Brookdale while searching for a place for my family member. The place seemed nice, with friendly people. However, it didn't seem just right for my loved one, so I kept looking.

"Room for betterment in resident care and services!"
My family member recently moved into this home and the transition has been a bit bumpy. The place itself and the system the staff uses to manage things could use some tightening up. She's said a couple times that her meals were cold but the staff addressed the issue after she spoke up. I hope they put together new and diverse activities for the people living there because it's starting to feel a bit repetitive with weekly bingo being the only event often mentioned.

""Clean Space, But Not Right for Parents""
When I visited this place, the folks living there didn't look too busy or interested in anything. The place appeared clean and the people I bumped into seemed friendly. Still, I couldn't picture my mom and dad living here.

"Not Impressed: Brookdale Falls Short"
My family member stayed briefly at this place. Overall, it was okay, but I wasn’t impressed. The food was sometimes good, other times not. They don’t have a nurse available at night. Some of the staff took good care of my loved one, but communication with the director could have been better.

"A Work in Progress, But Overall A Good Community"
My parents are still settling in at this community. It’s a good place with an excellent staff. They keep everything clean, and there are enjoyable activities for residents. The food is very good. Overall, it’s a safe and caring community that I recommend.

"Decent Residents in an Unkept and Boring Facility"
The place looks old and unclean in certain areas. The carpets, table coverings, and bathrooms had stains and dirt. Some of the corridors had bad odors. A good thing, though, is that the people living there I talked to seemed alert and happy. The activities they have (like bingo and TV) didn't seem very exciting.

"Great care and very accommodating!"
We used this community for a short stay for a loved one, and I thought they did a great job! They were very accommodating and worked hard to make her stay pleasant. They even changed some of the furniture in her room at her request, which was really nice. We would definitely use them again!

"Caring and Social Assisted Living with Some Food Concerns"
My family member is really being looked after here. In the three months they've been here, I can tell they're getting top-notch care, which makes me feel relieved. Food servings are a bit small, but there are nice spots for hanging out and meeting people. Overall, it's been a fantastic decision!

"Great Staff and Enjoyable Atmosphere"
We really like it there, and the staff is awesome. I wish I had more time to compare prices, though. St. Augustine seems pricey. Still, they keep the place clean, and the activities director goes all out. It feels like dining out, which is nice. The front desk staff is friendly and security-conscious. Even though I'm not in the same state, I feel at ease. The circular drive outside looks appealing.

"Great food and helpful staff"
The staff is definitely a five-star! They are very responsive, but you need to make sure to ask for what you need. The food is amazing—the best part by far! The chef is famous in our community, and I was so happy to see he works here.

"Friendly Staff and High Cost"
The staff was friendly, and the place seemed suitable, but it cost more than Wyndham Lakes, which is equally close to my house.

"Highly recommended, great care, friendly staff, and personalized rooms!"
It's hard when you have to trust strangers with your parent, but I was lucky I didn’t have to do a ton of research to find a place for my mom. Several people recommended this place, including her physical therapist, a site for families, Council on Aging, and a home nursing business. I visited, met with the director, got a detailed tour, and learned about all the activities, exercise, social hours, and nursing care options they offer depending on the senior’s needs. I've eaten meals with my mom there, and every meal was great. The staff is super friendly and really cares about the residents. Since my mom moved in, they’ve had a family party with great food, and if any issue comes up, they take care of it right away. There’s also been no problem getting her to her doctor appointments. I highly recommend this place. You can bring your own furniture to make your room feel like home, and the rooms come in different sizes, all very nice.

"Close to Family and Great Care"
They're going wonderfully. I went to the A Place for Mom website, and they recommended this place. It's not too far from where my brother and I live. We toured, and other family members of residents had wonderful things to say about it. Since my mom has been there, she's been getting great care. She has some language problems and sometimes switches between English and Greek, but they've been very understanding and call me if there are any issues. They have socials every day, sing-alongs, puzzles, and crafts. When I visit, I see her doing them with others. We're definitely getting value. It was a hard decision, but I think we found the right place.

"Nice facility, good for any Mom or Dad!"
I toured on 6/7/13. Here are my thoughts: 1. The location is 6 miles from my home. 2. They have 115 beds. 3. My first impression was good—people were sitting on the porch enjoying the morning. 4. The outside was clean and well-kept. 5. Inside, it was clean, and many people were waiting in the lobby for their exercise class, which made it feel a little crowded and loud. 6. The staff was polite to us. 7. The information was presented well. 8. The basic price for a one-bedroom studio with a bath is $3,100 a month, unfurnished. 9. Medication assistance is included. 10. The personal assistant plan (Level 2) costs $775 a month. 11. So, the total is $3,875 a month. There is a $5,000 buy-in fee to keep the $3,100 studio price. 12. They do accept Medicaid. 13. I didn’t talk to other clients. 14. They provide transportation to and from doctor visits and offer day trips. Overall, it looks like a very nice facility and would be a good place for any Mom or Dad.
