"Small, community-focused facility with excellent staff; meals could improve."
We are really pleased with how well they take care of my mom. The place isn't big, but it feels like a real community. The people who work there are great! The food is alright, but it could be better.

"Dedicated Care, Great Meals, Billing Could Improve"
We thought the caregivers did a great job, even though they were sometimes short-staffed like other places. They really cared for the residents and did their best. We enjoyed having meals with our loved one; the food was excellent. Our only issue was with the billing; we felt they should have been more proactive in keeping track of it as our loved one's health declined.

"Assisted Living Review: Positive Experience with Flexible Services and Deals"
It was really good. I liked how they do things in the cafeteria style, which means you only pay for services when you need them temporarily, not all the time. They also had a great special when we moved in, so my loved one got the biggest apartment available.

"Wheelchair-Heavy Assisted Living Tour"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person. The tour was pleasant, but everyone there used wheelchairs, which didn't make it the best fit for our loved one.

"Mixed Feelings on Brookdale West Melbourne AL"
I visited Brookdale West Melbourne AL and found it better than another place we saw. We had to choose between them. I really liked Brookdale; the staff were amazing, really outstanding. I especially connected with the saleswoman and her boss, who was even more impressive. When I brought my mom for a day visit, everyone said they loved her and were excited for her to live there; they were really wonderful. The facility was nice and clean. The only thing I didn't like, which made us decide against it, was their rooms. They were small and dark with not much light. There was maybe one window. The facility seemed older compared to the one we picked; I prefer newer, more modern places. It looked beautiful from the outside, but inside the rooms felt dark and somewhat lonely.

"Clean, cozy, but needs better food and activities"
The community is very clean and doesn't have that nursing home smell. Her room felt cozy right away and has a little kitchenette she really enjoys. The staff members are very friendly and the people are wonderful. However, the food is pretty plain and could be more balanced. The activities are still limited, and we wish they would encourage our loved one to get out more.

"Questioning Brookdale's Suitability for Two People"
We’re still unsure if this is the right place for us. The Brookdale rooms are too small for two people. I might not have made it clear that I was looking for a place for both of us.

"Needs a newer building"
The building I saw was really old. I'd prefer newer.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility with Low-Quality Care and Amenities"
I moved my mom into this facility in December and quickly made the decision to move her out in January. The place isn't well maintained at all. It lacks proper outdoor space for the residents to take walks. There is a tiny outside space with just one chair for sitting. The rooms are not only small but also quite depressing. Furthermore, the daily activities offered are uninspiring, offering minimal mental or physical engagement. The range of activities includes only coloring, bingo, and simple balloon toss games. The food is served three times a day, but it's neither nutritious nor appetizing. I couldn't believe the low quality of food offered. The staff could definitely use some major improvements, and the always-locked front door means you're constantly waiting for an employee to let you in or out. We had to pay a nonrefundable "community fee" of $3000, even though my mom only stayed a month. What a shame.

The place is pretty neat, though the construction work has it a bit messy. The workers there are really nice!

"A Cozy, Caring Place for Dad"
My dad is still getting used to The Brookdale West Melbourne. I picked this place for him because it feels warm and cozy. It's super clean, and the staff is friendly and caring. Right now, Dad isn't eating solid food, but the smells from the kitchen are great. They have lots of fun activities, and there's a nice patio where residents can enjoy fresh air. It's perfect when we bring Dad's dog to visit.

"Top choice!!"
Out of all the places I checked out for my mom, this was one of our favorites. I've paid the deposit, and soon my mom will move in. The memory care unit impressed me, and the security system is very safe. I think it'll be perfect for her, and I'm excited about her future here.

"Courtyard area needs better cleaning for a pleasant experience"
The assisted living facility has a nice courtyard, but the area could be cleaner. The person who smokes there often leaves cups and napkins around, which makes it messy. While they can smoke in that spot, it would be great if they kept it tidier.

"Facility Clean But Lacks Quality Care and Activities"
The meals here are pretty bad, and the thing is, quite a few of the folks should probably be getting memory care instead of assisted living. Since this place is a lock-down facility, we don't get to go outside as often. The events and activities aren't too well planned out. The management team isn't very good at responding either. I don't think I would tell others to come here. On the brighter side, the place is really clean and the staff members are super friendly and nice. I just feel like several things could be better.

"'Avoid this Negligent Assisted Living Facility'"
My mom was neglected at this facility. When she was admitted, no one bothered to check her insurance first. She was only helped with bathing twice in one week. We had to ask a friend who visited to help her bathe. I really don't think anyone should bring their family here. The staff didn't even follow my mom's doctor's orders. They also didn't clean her room or make her bed during her respite week. The basic service and meals we asked for weren't provided either.

"A nice, secure place to live"
Living at Sterling House has been very comfortable for my mom. Initially, we worried about her adjusting, but she's now happy, forming relationships with staff and other residents. The food is excellent, and the attentive staff promptly resolves any issues. We highly recommend it—a nice, secure place to live.

"A Wonderful Place for Mom: Caring Staff and Great Food"
I checked out 9 assisted living facilities for my mom in the Melbourne, FL area. I was really impressed with all of them, and since we could afford any, I had to be careful when choosing the best one. Sterling House has amazing food for seniors. The staff works together really well, helping each other out, no matter what the task is. I felt secure knowing that family and guests don’t have the door code, but the staff is always there to let people in and out. The rooms are a good size, and I like that the facility is all on one floor. They also have a beautiful outdoor space with a big screened-in porch. When my mom moved in, I actually stayed in her room for two weeks, so I got to know the daily routine and the staff really well. I saw all the shifts, and everyone felt like family. I enjoyed three meals a day there, and the coffee was great too! My mom didn’t bring any furniture, so the facility lent her a bedroom and living room set, sheets, towels, and a TV until I could get her own. That was really nice of them.

"Very Happy with Sterling House of West Melbourne!"
We are really happy with Sterling House of West Melbourne. The staff is friendly and remembers everyone’s name. When Mom first arrived, they took a lot of time to welcome her and make sure she felt at home. It's a smaller place than some others we've seen, which means she gets more personal care. This is our first experience with an assisted living facility, and they have made it a great one!

"Decent Parking, but Overall Needs Improvement"
The quality here wasn't the best. It wasn't very clean and it definitely needs some updates like new paint and a fresh carpet. The activities they offer weren't great either. However, the parking was decent. My loved one prefers her new place more.
