Brookdale Winter Haven

"Cozy and Affordable Choice"
I thought Brookdale was a cozy, friendly place. I picked it because it's small and affordable.

"Friendly staff, but some issues to fix"
The staff is very friendly and helpful to my loved one, but like other places, they are understaffed. The recent management change has had a good effect. The building had serious water issues that took weeks to fix, but hopefully, they are now solved. It would be better if it were easier to get into the building. An associate has to let you in and out, which takes them away from their jobs and causes delays. Overall, we really appreciate the caring staff.

"Short-Staffed but Promising Memory Care at Brookdale Winter Haven"
We picked Brookdale Winter Haven because they talked about fun things to do in the memory care area. But they’ve been missing an activities director for more than a month. I noticed they’re short-staffed, like everyone else. The regular staff is great, but there’s room for improvement. Overall, it’s one of the best memory care places in the county.

"More staff interaction and toilet paper needed"
For my mom, it would be helpful if the staff could make sure she has toilet paper when they clean her room. She can't do it herself, and sometimes when I visit, she has none, which has been a problem. I also think the staff could spend more time with the residents. There was a great gentleman at the beginning who was wonderful with the residents, but he got promoted and moved on, so there hasn't been as much interaction since then.

"Not Recommended for Others"
The people in charge at the assisted living community aren't very nice to the residents, but they're friendly to outsiders. There aren't enough staff members, and the courtyard lacks shade for sitting outside. I wouldn't suggest this place to others.

"Assisted Living Review: Communication Lacking, Good Food, Dim Rooms, Unpleasant Caregiver"
I wished they talked more. Food was nice. Rooms okay but dim. One caregiver in dining room wasn’t nice.

"Brookdale: Welcoming, Convenient Assisted Living"
We visited three places, and Brookdale felt the friendliest. Availability mattered to us. My brother’s room has lovely views, even during the Covid-19 lockdown. Our time inside was limited, but Brookdale was easy to coordinate with and worked well with our schedule.

"Brookdale Review Summary"
Brookdale is a neat and organized place that smells good. The hallways are wide and easy to walk through. The staff is friendly and helpful. At first, the value was good, but they’ve been adding more services and raising the price. Communication from the LPN and doctors to residents and their families isn’t perfect. They should listen to residents more. My mom enjoys the activities, and it’s nice that they know residents by name, not just a number. If you’re checking out Brookdale, pay attention to communication, costs, and add-ons.

"Costly but Clean: Memory Care Facility Review"
The big place was super clean, and the staff were nice. But wow, it's pricey—over $5,000 a month for memory care!

"Wonderful place, but too far to visit regularly!"
I loved this facility! The staff and residents were very welcoming. Unfortunately, the four-hour drive to get there makes it hard to visit often. We will be moving closer to home. But if Mom were staying in Lake Wales, this would definitely be the place for her.

"Wonderful Place with Caring Staff and Great Activities"
My husband has been living here for a few months, and I'm really happy with this place. He enjoys it too. The staff is very caring and professional, looking after everyone. The food is great and served in a nice dining room. The facility is clean and well-kept. If you’re thinking of downsizing or just want a more relaxed lifestyle, this place is a great choice. They offer many activities, shopping trips, and rides to doctor appointments. Check them out; you won’t be disappointed.

"Nice community, but too far and too pricey"
We liked this place when we visited. The people were friendly. The room they showed us wasn't as nice as the one at the place we chose. This place was a bit too expensive and a little farther away than we wanted.

"Nice Staff, But Facility Feels Outdated"
I had an okay visit at this place but I wasn't too wowed. It felt a bit old-fashioned to me. It looks like they could use some remodeling. The workers were nice and easy to talk to. But overall, it didn't feel right for my folks.

"Seemed nice, but pricey"
I visited this place when we were exploring care options for a family member. It looked really nice, clean, and the staff were friendly and professional. But it was quite expensive and beyond our budget. We ended up choosing a different community, but this could have been an option.

"Friendly staff, clean facility, food needs improvement. Recommended!"
I really like Brookdale Winter Haven! The people who work there are nice and take good care of us. The building looks nice too, and it's always clean and tidy. The only thing is, the food isn't always the best. But, overall, it's a really nice place. I would tell my friends about it!

"Very impressed with the improvements"
I’m really impressed. They found out my dad had a low thyroid, and now he’s more active. He’s met a lot of people who share his interests and has become more social. This is exactly what we wanted from an assisted living facility. We’re both really happy. He’s been there for about five or six weeks. He doesn’t use the care services because he’s healthy.
