Colonial Assisted Living at Fort Lauderdale

"Overmedicating and Deceptive Paper Signing at Colonial Assisted Living"
Colonial Assisted Living has gotten really bad since they brought in the new boss [name removed]. Since then, my mom has been given too many medicines. Ana made her sign papers so they could handle her social security money without even telling our family. My mom can't see and didn't know what she was signing. I moved her out and now she's doing so much better.

"Room for Improvement at Assisted Living Facility"
The manager is great, but staffing issues cause concerns. We often have to remind them to assist our loved one during the day to ensure they don't miss meals. It takes a long time for requested fixes, and the cleanliness could be better. While it's a nice community, there's room for improvement.

"Poor Care at Facility, Husband Sick and Ignored"
My husband ended up falling out of his bed when he was sick with Covid, which he got from the assisted living facility. He didn't handle the illness well and had to be taken to the hospital because of his fall. There were multiple times when he was left alone for too long and his living conditions weren't clean. The only person I could really rely on there was the social worker; the rest of the staff didn't seem to do their jobs very well.

"Tour Experience Disappointing at Colonial Fort Lauderdale Assisted Living"
Our tour at Colonial Fort Lauderdale wasn't great. The man leading us only talked to my husband, ignoring me even though it's my parent considering moving in. Also, he skipped showing us the memory care area where my loved one would stay, so we couldn't judge it.

"Poor Communication and Denied Admission at Colonial"
I was looking into this place for a relative who's local, while I live in a different state. At first, the sales team was super helpful. But as moving day got closer, things got unclear. They started dodging my questions. We were promised a room in the secure memory care section, but suddenly they were going to be in a regular room! When our family's caregivers left, there was a big fuss. The folks at Colonial reached out to the caregivers once they were already in the parking lot, saying our relative couldn't stay there after all. We had to take him back home. Whenever I tried to figure out what was going on or how to fix the problem, they gave me the runaround. No one straight-up answered my calls and I always got voicemail. They never even followed up! Besides that, Colonial never actually took care of our relative, but they still kept all the money we paid, which we paid a whole month in advance. When I asked them to give it back, they said they'd "look into it" and then never replied. I emailed them but got no response.

"Mixed experience at Colonial: Spacious rooms, lacking amenities, and food improvements needed."
We chose Colonial at Fort Lauderdale because I needed a place that offers both assisted living and memory care, and they have that. The location is good, and the rooms are big and airy with large sliding glass doors to the outside. The overall look of the place is nice too. The man who brought my loved one in went above and beyond, and I really appreciate him. He deserves recognition. I can't say enough good things about him. They need to work on the food though. Most fruits are canned instead of fresh, so they should improve that. Also, they don't listen to your food requests. They said there's a salon here, but there isn't. There's also no one dedicated to addressing issues, so that's been a bit frustrating. I would recommend this place if your loved one is fairly independent.

"Poor communication and missing items; not recommended for others."
After my family member passed away, we noticed that many of their personal belongings were missing. It seemed like things would disappear as soon as we brought them in. The staff didn't communicate well with the residents or their families. There were even instances when my loved one was sent to the hospital, and we weren't told about it. Overall, I wouldn't suggest this community to anyone else

"Amazing Care at Colonial Assisted Living in Fort Lauderdale"
I visited Colonial Assisted Living in Fort Lauderdale because my mom has special needs. Wow! The place has transformed with its architecture and staff. They've created a little indoor town and neighborhood. The atmosphere is super welcoming, and the staff is friendly and always smiling. The pricing is great for all the services and accommodations they offer. They even have specially trained staff to meet my mom's needs, which was the main reason I chose this place.

"Beautiful place with friendly staff and reasonable pricing!"
I toured Colonial Assisted Living in Lauderhill today, and it’s amazing! The new owners really thought about improving the community, and it looks beautiful! The pricing is very reasonable, and the staff is warm and friendly to us and the residents. They have shared, single, and executive accommodations.

"Inadequate Location and Majority Mental Health Residents"
This place is oversized with many residents living with mental conditions. Also, it's not located in a good area.

"Typical Facility with Decent Staff and Meals"
This place is quite typical. Like most, it has that common smell. The carpet really should be swapped out, alongside some other overdue fix-ups. The people in charge feel distant, but the everyday staff members are quite likable. The meals served are pretty decent.

"Assisted Living: Great Activities and Personal Attention"
I really enjoyed the assisted living facility, especially the activities director who led the tour and treated the residents so nicely. The variety of activities and personal attention were great too.

"Poor Treatment and Lack of Accessibility at Assisted Living Facility"
My relative resides at this facility and is unfortunately treated as a secondary citizen. The owner routinely invades their privacy, entering their room around three times a week, accusing them of various complaints about the room. He brings along a support dog that remains quiet, yet the owner still grumbles about its presence. The place falls short in catering to those needing wheelchairs. I would strongly suggest looking for alternatives if your family is in need of living assistance. On top of this, there are minimal activities available for the residents except for occasional bingo games.

"Assisted Living Shake-Up: New Owner, New Name"
Everything got turned upside down at the place. Grandma wasn't content there, so we relocated her. The new owner wasn't very nice to the staff. Back when we visited, it was called the Courtyards of Inverrary, but they've since changed the name.

"Unhappiness Leads to Move After Unpleasant Ownership Change"
The place was turned upside down. She was miserable there, so we relocated her. There was a new boss in charge, and his behavior towards the workers was far from nice. The last time we were there, it was called the Courtyards of Inverrary, but they've since rebranded.

"Noisy, dirty, and underwhelming tour experience."
When we got there, a lady was singing loudly. Too loud. I had to write our names down. Place wasn't clean. Tour was unimpressive.

"Loud Singing and Lackluster Tour at Assisted Living Facility"
When we got to the lobby, there was a lady singing. She was so loud that I had to write our names on a piece of paper for the receptionist to hear us. I know a lot of older folks have trouble hearing, but this was too much. The place didn't seem that clean and I really wasn't happy with the tour she gave us while other was out.
