"Unfit Living Conditions, Poor Care at Assisted Living Facility"

My dad stayed in this place for five months, sharing a room with three others. There's black mold all over the walls, doors destroyed by termites. The cleanliness is disgusting and it's clear they don't take care of the place. Whoever's in charge doesn't seem to care about the mental health patients living there. They're treated horribly, almost like animals. No one in there gets proper care. Being there for five months, my dad's health has worsened. We visited him every day, even hiring a private nurse ourselves. We complained all the time about the termites, mold, dirty bathrooms, and the lack of help. This place needs to be closed down. The administration only cares about the money they get every month from these American citizens. People deserve better. They should be treated like people, not animals.

"Terrible Facility Mistreats Elderly and Ignores Family Concerns"

We made a serious error when we decided to move my father into this care facility to save some money. To start with, the rooms they actually offer are nothing like the ones they show in their adverts. They admitted my dad on a Friday, and by the next day, his jacket and a few other belongings were nowhere to be found. Things got worse when I came to visit him on Sunday, only to find out his roommate had bullied him and struck him with something, leaving him with a swollen hand and possibly a hurt right shoulder. The worst part is my family and I were not informed about this and he was not given any urgent medical aid. Moreover, when I demanded to talk with someone from the management, there was no one available, and there wasn't even an incident report of the event. They need to close this place; it's horrendous, stinky, and downright unbearable. Please, do not let your loved ones reside here.

"Affordable Assisted Living with Renovation Underway, Mixed Feelings"

The place is getting renovated. It's cheap, and they don't charge differently for care levels. They offer assisted living and memory care. The building's old, and I'm not a fan of its appearance.

"Inadequate for memory care, subpar first impressions; Avoid completely."

This place isn't good for memory care in a supported living setting. It definitely needs a much-needed makeover and a proper check or assessment for basic care standards. Stepping in, the front desk person gives you a not-so-well first impression and makes everything feel kinda bad right from the start. I'd highly recommend staying away no matter what.

"Great Care for Aging Residents"

The community was wonderful. My mom stayed there for three years, and as her medical needs increased, they provided nurses and programs to help her age in place.

"Substandard Conditions Plague Aged, Gloomy Memory Care Facility"

This facility is truly unsuitable. It's old-fashioned and worn out, with the memory care section being gloomily dim and uninviting. I wouldn't even consider placing someone dear to me in such an environment.

"Nice Community, Not Ideal for Elderly on Upper Floors"

This place was pretty nice, but it felt too busy for my dad. His room would've been upstairs, and that wouldn't have been safe for him. They had activities, but we didn't see the meals. It was clean, though. We would've liked it here if it wasn't for the second floor. Overall, we think it's great for care and value, but not so much for older folks who can't handle stairs.

"Negligent Care and Unscrupulous Practices at Assisted Living Facility"

My mother was at this assisted living facility for one year. Initially, things were pleasant enough. However, there was an incident where she ended up wandering outside and nobody noticed, including the receptionist. She was walking towards Purdy and when I asked her nurse about it, I was told that she was inside the facility. But when I approached to pick them up, I found my mom outside with all the nurses exiting the building too. Something I found particularly worrying about the institution was their policies regarding personal care and medication. For instance, if a resident refuses their medication, they don't insist. With regards to personal hygiene, baths are only given once or twice a week, and only if the resident agrees. Regarding personal belongings like photographs, these items disappeared and were never found. There's also a technique they use to unload unwanted patients. They send them to JFK and declare that they can't return. They let the hospital pick another center, unless you stand your ground. I must admit, there was a time when the place was decent, back when the original cadre of caring nurses were still employed there. They've since been replaced with staff who seem less interest in their charges. It's a relief that my mother is gone, now safe in another facility where they ensure she gets a shower every day, nutritious homemade meals, and patient interactions. They also have a cooperative approach to administering medication. What I'm advocating is for more visits to monitor the quality of care delivered by these places. It's not just about the money; but the quality of care, compassion, and treatment matters greatly. It's these details that can differentiate between an institution with employees who really care and places where it's just a job for the nurses. Unfortunately, this institution has changed, it's not the warm and loving place it used to be.

"Concerns Raised Over Neglect and Mismanagement at Assisted Living Facility"

My mom stayed there for a year. Initially, the experience was pleasant. However, things changed when she managed to walk away from the facility in plain sight of the staff, including the receptionist. Strangely, they all claimed she was inside when I inquired about her. It was a shocking sight to find my mom outside near the security unit with the facility staff hastily following her. They also have a worrying practice of not administering medication to the residents who refuse it. Moreover, the residents are only given a bath once or twice a week, if they agree. I found that my mom's personal belongings, including her pictures, were missing, and the staff couldn't locate them. If they decide they want to send off a resident, they send them to JFK hospital, and then proclaim that the resident can't return to the facility. They let the hospital decide on a nursing home for the resident, unless the family firmly refuses and takes the matter into their own hands. Initially, the care was terrific until they replaced the caring nurses with ones who didn't seem invested. Thankfully, my mom is now in a better facility where they bathe her daily, serve homemade food, and have a ton of patience. In her new home, they make an effort to ensure the residents take their medicines properly. I'd recommend visiting your loved ones often in their care homes. It isn't just about the money; it's about quality care and love. The nursing home was once a warm and caring environment. Unfortunately, that changed.

"Disorganized, rude staff and outdated facility; not recommended for loved ones."

Totally let down! Steve Delach seemed unaware of our visit. The front desk lady argued about my appointment until I proved it. She then bashed a company called A Place For Mom. She attempted to find someone to give us a tour. After making us wait another 10 minutes, we were told the person would show up soon. During our wait, the receptionist was blatantly disrespectful to two elderly residents and a staff member. We opted to leave, absolutely certain that we wouldn't leave my mother in this facility. The whole place feels very outdated and worn-out.

"Terrible Experience with Rude Staff and Outdated Facility"

What a letdown! The front desk lady attempted to convince me I didn't schedule a visit, but I showed her My Search as proof. She proceeded to badmouth A Place for Mom. She attempted to find someone who could give us a tour. We waited an extra 10 minutes and were informed she'd be there soon. During that waiting period, the desk lady was incredibly rude to two residents and one staff member. We decided to leave, telling her there's no possibility I'd let my mom stay there. The facility itself is clearly old and hasn't been updated.

"Wonderful staff and great care in a warm community!"

The staff are wonderful. They take great care of my dad. It feels like a warm environment. I’m very happy we found it. Our experience has been really good. Everyone has been friendly and nice. The value is excellent, and the care services are great. Cresthaven East is a really nice community, and we are very pleased with it. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic community. It's great!

"A Pleasant Place with Room for Improvement"

I believe it’s a nice place, although a bit old. Some updates would be good. Overall, it’s a pleasant living environment. The only issue is that the rooms and facility could use some refreshing. Despite that, my mother is very content there, and it’s been a positive experience. Plus, there are plenty of activities to keep residents busy.

"Nice place, just needs some updates"

I think it’s a nice place. It’s a little old and could use some updates. For the most part, it’s a nice place to live. The rooms could use some updating, and the facility could use a fresh coat of paint. Other than that, my mother is very happy there. It has been a great experience. There are also a lot of activities to keep the residents busy.

"Assisted Living Facility Tour: Not Quite What We Hoped For"

We checked out this place when we were deciding. It didn't click with us. It wasn't quite right for what we needed. We also worried about how much it would cost.

"Not Too Impressed With The Facility And Its Cost"

We checked this place out when we were exploring possibilities. It didn't impress us much. It wasn't the right place for us. The cost also worried us.

"Terrible Conditions At Assisted Living Facility – Steer Clear"

My mom lives here and she phoned me this morning because of a water leak in her place. Even after 8 hours and two maintenance workers later, it's still not fixed. The water's streaming into her kitchen and bathroom, so she can't even use the rooms without slipping and wading through water. It seems like the facility just doesn't care about the living conditions, and they definitely don't seem too worried about their residents. I'd advise staying clear of this place. We've had countless problems, including awful food and a lot of staff changes. Trust me, your best move would be to run the other way.

"Run Fast from Leaky, Care-less Assisted Living"

My mom stays here, and this morning she called to say there's a leak in her room. In the past 8 hours, even after two maintenance guys came around, the water is still not fixed. It's running into her kitchen and bathroom, making it slippery and messy. She can't even use the rooms without wading through water. It feels like the facility doesn't bother about how the place is, or care about the people who live there. My advice is - stay clear. There are tons of other problems here too, like bad food and lots of staff leaving. Listen to me and stay away.

"Lackluster Assisted Living Experience"

This place wasn’t great. They didn’t pay much attention to us during our short stay. There were missing things and accidents. The cement steps weren’t blocked off, so anyone could fall. They seemed friendly at first, but when we left, we found out others had similar issues. It was clean, but not very attentive.

"Disappointing Experience due to Inattentive Staff"

Our time here wasn't great. The staff, though friendly, didn't really keep an eye on things the way they should have. We only stuck around for less than a month. During that time, a few things went missing and there were a couple of accidents. Even though the place was nice and clean with concrete steps, they didn't have any barriers to stop folks from taking a tumble. It first seemed like a nice place, with happy people - which is why we picked it. But then the week we decided to leave, we ran into another family dealing with the same issues. The place looked good, the employees were nice, but they really weren't looking out for the residents like they should've.

"Great Experience with a Minor Issue"

Mom made a new friend while she was at Cresthaven East. She didn't have any complaints and thought the dining area was beautiful. However, she lost a favorite pair of pants, and they couldn't help us find them. Overall, her experience there was very positive. I really want to thank A Place for Mom for doing a great job helping me find places close to home that offer respite care. Your help saved me a lot of time I would have spent looking, calling, and researching. Thank you so much!!

"Mom Finds Friendship at Cresthaven East"

Mom met a new friend at Cresthaven East. She liked the fancy dining area and had no problems. But, she lost her favorite pants, which they couldn't help us find. Still, she had a good time overall. Thanks a bunch to A Place for Mom for helping me find nearby places for respite care. Your assistance saved me loads of time searching. Much appreciated!

"Mixed Experience: Assisted Living Facility Review"

I had a problem for a while with one person. In the bathrooms, there's dirt behind doors and frames. The location is good, and they were flexible with the price. The food tastes pretty good.

"Good Location and Price, But Needs Cleaner Bathrooms"

For several years, I've had a problem with one individual at the facility. I've noticed that the bathrooms aren't always clean, especially behind the doors and the frames. Despite this, I enjoy the location of the facility and they were open to discussing the cost. I also found the meals they serve to be quite tasty.

"Pleasant visit. Friendly staff. Need another visit during activities."

We liked the visit. The people there were friendly and acted like professionals. But it's too soon to say if it's the right place for us. We'll need to go again when they're doing activities and having lunch.

"Loved the community, great staff, perfect for Mom!"

I really liked the community and the staff. I have to wait for my mom's condition to get worse, but this is where I want her when that happens.

"Balanced Care for Health and Social Life"

Cresthaven East was a great middle ground for my dad’s health care and my mom’s social life. They kept a close eye on his sugar levels and took good care of him as his memory problems got worse. At the same time, they helped my mom with her everyday stuff and made sure she had friends to talk to.

"Just Okay, Not Our Top Pick"

The building didn't wow me, but it was still okay. We'd also have to drive a bit to get there, which wasn't ideal. The overall vibe wasn't our favorite. A bunch of different things influenced our final choice.

"Great Care Services"

This place is older, so it doesn’t look as nice as some others. It’s like a motel where you have to step outside to get to your room. The rooms themselves are really good, but the overall community could use some updates. Even though it’s not very attractive, the care services are excellent. They take good care of the residents and handle any issues that come up. The cost is around $3,000 per month.
