"Discovery Village: Clean, Caring, and Engaging!"
If a friend asked, I'd say Discovery Village hasn't let me down. My parents, aged 91 and 92, were hesitant about moving to assisted living, but after a few months, they're content and happy here. The location was crucial for me, and Discovery Village met that requirement. It's spotlessly clean, and the dining area feels more like an upscale lounge. The staff, especially the Senior Lifestyle Coordinator, and [name removed], the Activities Director, have been fantastic.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
The place is pretty clean and most staff are friendly. But they need to explain better what you're paying for. When you need extra help, they should tell you exactly what it costs. That's weird to me. Also, the food isn't great. They should offer more choices. They should ask residents what activities they want and group people who like the same things together.

"Caring Staff and Fun Activities"
The staff is friendly and attentive, and our loved one enjoys the pool and activities. We highly recommend this community to other families.

"Nice Staff and Worth a Look, but Lacking in Appeal"
My parents didn’t like the location much - it was a bit farther out. They thought the outside looked a little plain. Also, I think the kitchens weren’t as well-equipped. Overall, it was fine, just not as nice as the place we chose. But it was a good place, worth checking out. The people were very friendly and knowledgeable. It was a nice place, and I'm glad we toured there.

"Broad Activities Needed, Still Recommend Overall"
The activities could be better. They should have more than just bingo. Despite that, we would tell others to consider this community.

"Outstanding Care and Support at Discovery Village Naples"
My dad stayed at Discovery Village Naples for almost two years. I visited him a lot and thought the staff and caregivers were amazing. If there was ever a problem, the staff always took care of it and kept me informed. After about 18 months in assisted living, my dad moved to memory care. They let him come back to assisted living to eat with his friends whenever he wanted. The caregivers in the memory unit were fantastic. During the nine days my dad was in hospice care, I saw these caregivers at all hours and can't say enough good things about them.

"Substandard Care and Neglect at Discovery Village Memory Care Facility"
Discovery Village didn't provide the proper care that our dad required in their memory care unit, despite the fact that they took our money. Our dad was fine when he moved in apart from Alzheimer's disease, but he was not alright when he left. We were planning on relocating him, but sadly, we were too late. After less than a month there, he ended up in the hospital and then passed away. We think that if there had been a better care plan for him, he wouldn't have ended up in the hospital and he'd still be here with us. Despite frequent meetings with the director and real requests to change his care, nothing was done even though they promised. He was to receive services he never got and the ones he did were irregular. In the evenings, the place was so short-staffed that it was tough to find someone to ask if you had a doubt or query. Once, I spent over 40 minutes looking for someone to know if my dad had his medication. There were no staff in the memory care section. They had divided the staff between the memory care and the assisted living sections and sometimes, I doubt if any staff was present in the memory care section. We were given a contact number to call if we needed to ask something, and it was allegedly direct to the nursing station. The catch was, nobody ever picked up the call. When I told the director about it, they said they are occupied with patients most of the time and asked me to leave a message. Nobody ever returned my calls! Regardless of the beautiful appearance and the deceptive low charge, don't be fooled. It's cheap for a valid reason. It seems quite lovely when you first enter, but the charm only lasts till here. They do not have enough staff and they are not adequately experienced to take care of patients with distinctive needs. Isn't that why they are in a place like this? Rooms were superficially cleaned only. The floors had dried urine stains, required showers were missed, and doses of medication were regularly skipped. Since its inauguration last July, there have been 5 complaints against them regarding medication problems from the state. Activities merely included bingo, tossing a ball back and forth, watching a movie in a big room each day. Over my many visits there, I noticed that these activities hardly switched. If you care about your loved one's safety and want quality care, find a different place for them. You basically get what you pay for! We regret our decision every single day.
