"Disappointing Care at Assisted Living Facility Despite Initial Positives"
The food is nice and the staff are friendly, but don't be misled by the "All-inclusive Memory Care" tagline. My mom started off well, but after 4 months, she suffered due to staff shortage and inadequate supervision. It was alarming to see no staff around - I've noted them leaving the premises via a side door while the residents were left unattended. My mom didn't always receive her meals. I was witness to this since I would visit especially when she wasn't well and no staff made appearances (remember, they had no clue I was around since it was desolate when I arrived). According to the authorities at WSS, safeguarding the residents is paramount but the reality is far from it, which makes it heartbreaking to see the Memory Care section. The facility also disallows installing cameras in the residents' rooms, benefiting only the management as they maintain plausible deniability. Thanks to private caretakers, my mom got two meals a day and adequate care. The director seems compassionate but lacks control over her team. Despite addressing these issues in a letter, I received no response.

"Decent Location, Facility and Mood Could Improve"
Good Stuff: The place is easy to walk around, and you can get a card to do fun things like golf. Not-So-Good Stuff: The building looks old and could use some fixing up. It didn’t feel super happy there. They didn’t let us try any food, and they didn’t give us any to take home either. The person showing us around didn’t know how many workers there are for each person living there. I got to talk to one person living there, and they didn’t have much to say about the place.

"Prospective Resident's Sons Appreciate Welcoming and Informative Atmosphere"
The staff was really friendly and gave us a lot of helpful information. It was our first time visiting an assisted living place for our dad. Your checklist was super useful for us. We're still adjusting to the idea that our dad will need to live here soon, maybe in a few months or a year. Elan looks like a nice place to think about. One thing we didn't like: The entrance to the Memory Care area is right where everyone can see it from the main area. We can tell it's secure, but it looks a bit scary, like the entrance to a jail.

"A Caring Home for Mom"
My sister and I visited Elan of Spanish Springs and thought it was great. Paige and Marie, the RNs, were helpful and caring. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere felt like home. We chose it for our mom.

"Elan Spanish Springs Review"
I walked through Elan Spanish Springs with a friend who just moved in. I had visited two others before this. I think I might be ready for a place like this soon. I tend to fall often and will probably hurt myself eventually. As I walked, I noticed the small apartments, called alcoves, were quite tiny, only 325 square feet. But after looking closer, they seemed big enough for one person to live comfortably. The one-bedroom apartments were also very small. There are only four 2x2s, and there's a waiting list for them. That's what I'm looking for. The price seemed high to me. For an alcove, it's $2900 a month, which includes everything water, electric, computer WiFi, three meals a day, apartment cleaning once a week, and sheets changed. Personal laundry can be done for free. There wasn't a calendar of events available, but I walked in on a man singing and a group of about 30-40 people sitting around, singing, dancing, and clapping to the music. The longer I stayed, the more relaxed the atmosphere felt. They have a theater where they show a different movie every day. There's also a craft room where they do and teach crafts, with a wood floor perfect for line dancing lessons. I enjoyed meeting the people I had dinner with there. They all spoke positively about their decision to live there.

"Memory Care Unimpressive, Family Member Removed Due to Negligence"
The memory care section is simply terrible. It just seems like they're storing people rather than looking after them, with hardly any activities. We had to remove our relative because they weren't getting the care they needed.
