"Residents and Staff: A Mix of Friendliness and Challenges"
The staff is friendly and helpful, but some residents try to change how things are done. Also, employees need better communication.

"Disgraceful Mismanagement and Neglect at Assisted Living Home"
My mom was involuntarily placed in this facility. It was badly managed with inadequate staff who were unskilled in meeting my mom's care needs. They neglected necessary grooming and attention. This led to her and other residents being alone. The memory unit was consistently dirty with an unpleasant odor. I can firmly say that I would never entrust a loved one to their care based on this experience. I sampled every meal and found the food to be gross. I urge everyone to avoid this place. Alarmingly, there are NO on-site doctors and NO registered nurses, only LPNs - this is totally unacceptable. My mother was left in dirty and degrading conditions. They neglected her so much that at times, she slept without covering and was left lying in her own urine. This place is awful - stay away!

"Mixed Experience at New Assisted Living Facility"
The rooms for residents weren't kept clean, and there isn't as much medical care or knowledge as expected. However, it's a nice facility with friendly people, even though it's not very organized.

"Inadequate staff training and unhealthy food at care facility"
The staff and management at this facility are constantly changing. The certified nursing assistants (CNAs) don't seem trained well in caring for the older residents in the memory care (or "lockdown") unit. I've seen fights between residents and CNAs and have noticed falls happening. There seem to be plenty of rule-breaking going on too. The food here used to be okay, but ever since Pegasus took over, it's become unhealthy—mostly carbs which aren't good for folks with diabetes or heart problems. The food is usually served warm-ish and takes an hour to arrive. The kitchen staff doesn't wear hair nets, so you can sometimes find hair in the meals. Sadly, the residents look pretty glum here and aren't receiving the physical and occupational therapy they need for building muscle and motion range.

"Review Summary: Unreliable, understaffed, and underprepared for emergencies; not recommended."
We arranged for my mom to stay at an assisted living facility after her hip surgery. Since she also had dementia, she required extra help, and her usual home environment was filled with too many walking hazards. We started the first month with a positive note but, shortly after, everything began to fall apart. Incidents of the entire kitchen and wait staff quitting have taken place, which led to asking medical staff to assist with serving food. This caused a constant turnover of health care staff who were essential in supporting patients, and they kept resigning due to overwork. The once-abundant and tasty meals also started to shrink in portion size, and we started doubting if the food was enough to meet the dietary needs of the residents. During one of our visits, we experienced the lack of cleaning and food service staff first hand, and my mom had to get up and voice her complaints aloud to get someone to serve dinner. Fast forward to now, in November, things have worsened significantly. The original wait staff has been replaced multiple times and they are already on their third chef in the last six months. What’s worse, when there was a power outage, it was clear that the facility was not meeting state laws. They had no backup power generators, which meant medical devices stopped working, leaving residents in complete darkness. It was also highlighted that the facility had inadequate night staffing, with only two personnel on call to cover an entire building. The power outage also exposed a severe security breach. The electronic locks securing the Memory Care wing shut off, allowing Alzheimer's patients to walk out. In one instance, a puzzled patient wandered to a nearby church, ended up in a vehicular trip to a neighboring town and was luckily returned. In stormy weather, this situation could potentially leave residents endangered, without essential medical equipment, and with the freedom to wander into unsafe areas surrounding the facility. My advice? Stay away from Fountains of Hope if you care about your loved ones. My mom was fortunate because I arranged a team of private nurses to be with her round-the-clock. These nurses ended up preparing and bringing food for my mom, countering the poor in-facility service. It's simply not worth the money to place your family here.

"Clean Place, But Rooms are Small and Memory Care is Depressing"
The facilities felt more like little studios than anything. Even the one-bedroom places only had a small part that separated it from the studio feeling. But, the place was very tidy and had really nice decorations. The dining area was good too. The part of the facility meant for people with memory issues felt sad and felt just like a nursing home.

"Excellent Care and Support at Fountains of Hope Memory Care"
The process of visiting and interviewing at the Fountains of Hope Memory Care was great, and the staff were very helpful. Moving my mother from her home to FoH was handled smoothly, and my worries about how she would adjust were taken care of well. Since I live in Virginia and am the only family member looking after my mother, it was really important to me that she got good care. After just two days, she started to do really well at FoH. The staff kept me updated and took good care of her physical and mental health. When I visited, she said the food was excellent. The facility itself is almost new and really well designed!

"Wonderful community with great activities!"
My parents stayed at this community for a break, and they were really spoiled. It’s a great place, and they loved everything about it. The community looks fantastic and very clean. They have a chef, so the food is excellent. My parents said it was delicious. The activities are awesome, from workout classes to bingo and music guests. There’s always something for the residents to enjoy. Our advisor, Anita, was so helpful. I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for senior living. It’s a wonderful place – we loved it!
