"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"

This place is nice, and my mom loves it. But the director stays in her office and the smelly rug needs replacing.

"Loved One Unhappy with Nursing Home-like Assisted Living Community"

The facility resembled a nursing home, which my loved one disliked.

"Warm, responsive care and tidy, pleasant environment."

The community here is really caring and quick to help. Plus, the grounds are always clean, organized, and look nice.

"Mixed Feelings About The Retreat at Port Orange"

The Retreat at Port Orange didn't quite meet my expectations, especially considering it's a memory care facility. During our tour, my loved one participated in an activity that wasn't as good as what she experienced elsewhere. Additionally, the facility felt older and lacked that cozy feeling.

"Clean, caring staff, great activities, worth the cost!"

The place is always clean. Even though they ask me to call ahead before visiting, I never do, and it’s always spotless. Everyone there knows what my mom is up to, which I really appreciate. They also keep me informed about any issues. I’m very impressed. My mom says the food is okay, but they just got a new chef, so it might get better. There are lots of activities, though she’s too tired to join many. She enjoys the music and the pets they bring in on Fridays. They offer exercises, bingo, and movies. She participates as much as she can, which is a huge improvement from her previous place where she did nothing. It is pricey, but I think it’s worth it. I’d recommend them to anyone.

"Former 4-Star Facility Suffers due to Executive Neglect, Poor Food"

The only reason we stick around is because of the fantastic director of excitement, If she wasn't there, She wouldn't be any fun at all. My issue is that the awesome staff, like the CNAs and the HHAs, don't seem to work as much as they used to. I wonder how long they're going to stay? A lot of residents have been decreasing... like when they had to close because the state came in last summer. The residents are the ones who suffer when the numbers are low. They've got a sales guy, but he spends a lot of time in the facility rather than actually getting customers. So now, we're stuck eating these so-called 'chef-made meals' that are just sandwiches with chips. That's not a balanced diet for older folks! Where's the fruit salad, vegetables, and fiber? None of these meal preparers are actual chefs. Just cooks! The executive director is practically invisible and she doesn't seem to have a good relationship with anyone - residents, families, or the staff. She always looks angry and micromanages everything without knowing what she's doing. If only they would bring back. The staff is finding it hard to take care of the residents because they're not getting enough hours or support. The medical director is awesome though. She's always smiling, helping everyone and knows her job well. We pay a lot for this place, but lately, it's not worth it. The food and care have dramatically decreased for the past four months. The only saving grace is, who keeps us entertained. This facility used to have a four-star rating but it's dropped now. They better clean up their act or five of us are going to leave, leaving only twelve in assisted living.

"Good Food, Pricey Staff"

The assisted living facility seemed a bit expensive for what we received. They handled medications well, but there was often a shortage of staff. The activities provided were okay, and parking was never an issue. On the bright side, the food was excellent.

"Nice place, overall"

My family member stayed here briefly due to increased care needs, and our overall experience was positive. The staff is friendly, although the rooms are a bit small for the price.

"Friendly and Clean"

The service our loved one gets is excellent. We’ve had the food, and it’s very good. There is enough parking, so it’s not a problem. The laundry service is reliable. It’s a friendly and clean community.

"Good Activities and Food"

My mom hasn't been at the assisted living facility for long. She stayed there for about a day and a half, had to go to the hospital, and then returned for another day before going back to the hospital again. Hopefully, she'll be able to stay there longer. The facility is a pretty good value. It's clean, and there are activities for people to do. In the morning, they get everyone out of their rooms to socialize. Although my mom won't go out on her own, once she's there, she's fine. They offer therapy-like activities and take residents shopping if they're up for it. She also enjoyed the food.
