"Bring Your Own Supplies to Spring Oaks"
I feel it’s super important for other families checking out Spring Oaks to understand that you need to bring all your own stuff like bed pads, diapers, and more. Literally, you need to bring every single thing.

"Grand Villa of De Land is a Welcome Home Facility!"
I have researched and visited many facilities in Florida to find the best place for my 91-year-old sister. Grand Villa of De Land is the best! You know you are welcome as soon as you enter and are greeted by the concierge. It is difficult to place someone you love in a care facility, but the transition was smooth and easy because of the caring folks at Grand Villa. I was very impressed by the cleanliness and the staff-to-resident ratio. My sister was treated with respect and dignity and was integrated into the facility like she was a family member. The staff goes out of their way to plan activities that keep the residents active and motivated. I also found the pricing to be fair and often less than other facilities I visited. I highly recommend Grand Villa of De Land!

"The Remodeled Community"
The community seemed really nice during our tour. Unfortunately, it was out of our budget. Still, it would have been our top choice. The remodeled place looked beautiful, and the food and staff were good.

"Upscale Community Not The Right Fit For Mom"
I visited this place for my mom and her requirements. The visit was generally pleasant, but I didn't find this place to be the right one for my mom. It looked very posh and upscale. The people working there were nice. However, I found another place that fit our needs more appropriately.

It's a really good place with lots of awesome stuff, but I feel it might be too big for my dad. He could easily get overwhelmed.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Resort"
The place feels like a nice resort, but there's a lot of walking, and it might not be right for everyone. Unfortunately, there are no peaceful 'zen' spots on the property. On the bright side, they do have a lovely pool area and plenty of activities for residents.

"A wonderful place to enjoy your golden years!"
Whoever said, “hindsight is 20/20,” was absolutely right. If I had known then what I know now, I would never have wasted six months of my mom’s golden years searching for a “forever home.” After three facilities, my family and I chose the wonderful accommodations and amenities at Grand Villa, Deland. From day one, Mom was treated with the dignity and respect we all expect in an assisted living facility with a Memory Care Unit. The Memory Care Unit is secure, so residents can’t wander out of the facility. Inside, they can walk freely in the courtyard without getting lost. Although Mom prefers to skip some daily activities, the activities director encourages her to join the other residents multiple times a day. After just three days at Grand Villa, Deland, my siblings and I celebrated Mom’s 95th birthday in the private dining room. While we set up, a kitchen staff member asked if we needed anything. I mentioned coffee, and she quickly brought a pot with all the extras. Before the party ended, she returned with a second pot! As soon as you enter the facility, the friendly receptionists greet you. I explained that I needed to make several trips to my car for party supplies. They offered me a luggage carrier, which saved me three trips! The maintenance staff arranged Mom’s room exactly how we wanted it, even hanging her pictures. When Mom entered her room for the first time, she noticed something was different but settled in as soon as she recognized her furniture and photos. The nursing staff keeps me updated on Mom’s health and needs. They help her with medication management and daily hygiene in her own private bathroom and shower. The housekeeping staff keeps her room tidy and washes her personal clothes. I also want to thank the Sales and Leasing staff and the business office for creating a package that met our financial goals while providing the personal care Mom needs. Mom wants to live to be 100, and I believe she will reach that goal because of the one-on-one care and compassion from the Grand Villa, Deland staff. Plus, she loves the food! And one more thing: if you see an invitation for an “Open House” at Grand Villa, Deland for new residents, be sure to attend. They often have financial offers for families who sign up for residency. "Assisted Living Facility Making Improvements"
This place is pretty new and the staff could improve a bit, but overall we're satisfied, and so are my in-laws. Whenever we have issues, they fix them fast. They're friendly and helpful. My in-laws enjoy the food and dining, and they're even joining in some activities now.

"Abysmal Memory Care: Neglectful Staff and Poor Living Conditions!"
The memory care at this facility is absolutely unsatisfactory! I strongly advise that you don't place your cherished family members here! The person managing the memory care unit doesn't appear competent enough for their role and doesn't responsibly handle any concerns or grievances raised by the families. False assurances are given regarding improvements, but there's no visible progress! Whenever I inform others that my family member was a resident here, I receive the same shocked reaction from everyone in town. There's a general collective agreement on the poor quality of care here, and the fact that they're severely understaffed. More often than not, the existing staff members are busy with their mobile phones, paying no attention to the seniors. There's even a rumor going around that there isn't any night staff. If that's true, the elders staying on the second floor are at risk of getting locked out of their rooms. The elevator operates on a key entry system from the first to the second floor, which could potentially pose a hazard. An instance that particularly worried me was when I found myself waiting for a significant amount of time on the second floor, for someone to assist me and my family member back down. Alarmingly, there was no staff member present on the second floor to attend to the residents. Over a brief period of months, my dear one fell severely ill and lost considerable weight. We, as a family, had to instruct the staff when to seek medical aid, and it was only then that the paramedics were called in. All the staff members seem inadequately trained! Moreover, there's hardly any effort made to interact with the residents, or to maintain some of their familiar routines, or even to engage their minds. They're left alone in their rooms, confined to staring at walls or the television.

"Total Chaos at Grand Villa Memory Care Facilities"
Grand Villa might look nice and sound great when they're selling it, but it's a different story when it comes to caring for the elderly, especially those with memory issues. The place opened just this past February, but the number of workers who have quit already is shocking. Even the saleswoman, who told us about all the great things to expect, has left. Let's be clear about something. There's no such thing as a high-class memory care system here. The high-tech brain fitness device they touted? It's just sitting in the corner, untouched. And what's the fun activity on the second floor? Watching TV. The so-called "life stations" they bragged about are a joke, with walkers just parked in front of them. The hard-working assistants they do have are pushed to the breaking point. They're doing laundry, serving meals, and they're short-staffed on top of it all. Talking about meals, our family member lost over 25 pounds, and it seemed like we were the only ones freaking out. Sure, they're marked as having attended meals, but no one records what they actually ate or even helps them eat. The last time we visited, two residents were fighting over a walker in the TV room while a new resident was screaming for help in another. It felt like being in a crazy house. Some residents are known for violent behaviors, and others are always moving, which only makes the rest stressed out. At one point, we had to tell an assistant that it was raining and a resident was sleeping outdoors on the patio. And I can say I've found residents stuck in the elevator at least three times because only the staff has keys to operate it. If you're considering Grand Villa, prepare to always watch out for your loved ones. Check them for any marks, expect urinary infections, and watch for weight loss. We tried working it out with the managers for several months, but it didn't work. We didn't get the care they promised. I'm with the other 1-star reviewers. I wouldn't recommend Grand Villa Memory Care for your loved ones. .

"Great activities and friendly staff!"
Grand Villa offers many activities for residents. They have happy hour, music, entertainers who come to perform, and trips out to lunch. The food could be better, as it tastes more like cafeteria food. However, the staff is very friendly and helpful, encouraging my dad to join in on the fun. I would definitely recommend this community.

"Friendly staff, but not the right place for us"
The folks at Grand Villa of Deland kept things neat and tidy on the outside. Everyone working there was nice and tried to be helpful when we met. My family was going through a tough time and we were looking for some extra help. But in the end, this place wasn't quite what we needed then.

"Grand Villa: Low Staff, Poor Care, and Lack of Communication!"
If I were to share all of our problems with Grand Villa Deland Memory Care, I'd end up writing a book. But, here's the short version: Don't let someone you care about live there. Most of the people working there are honestly good-hearted and try their best. But, there just aren't enough of them for them to do an okay job. Our mom was often hurt and we'd get no explanation. She ended up with a lot of cuts that kept her in the house needing care for weeks. Sometimes, she didn't get any help with her meals. Staff had a hard time chatting with each other and keeping us informed. Many times, we went to visit and we couldn't find any of the staff. More than twenty patients were often left alone, which scared us. The problems could be counted on the fingers of two hands and then some. Moving mom would be hard on her, but after three different big meetings with top people, and not finding a solution, we decided it was best. Mom is a lot better, at a new place that provides all the care she needs. She's eating good meals now and her cuts are beginning to heal. She's all around feeling better. If you're thinking about Grand Villa Deland Memory Care for your loved one, here's what you should do: Go visit at random times (morning, dinner time, etc.). Check out how many patients each care worker has to look after. Look for recent injuries on patients. Spend time there to see if patients just sit by themselves for long periods of time. The elevators are locked, so ask staff to let you upstairs and check how many patients are walking around without anyone to watch them. Ask what kind of training the caregivers have and how often caregivers come and go. Ask about what they do for medical care and emergencies. We were told there was a nurse on staff, but even when mom was hurt, we never met the nurse. We didn't get the chance to check the place out before we let mom move in. Since it was brand new, we thought it was going to be good. We hoped things would get better in the three months we stayed, but they didn't. You seriously need to listen to me when I say: Don't let someone you love live at Grand Villa Memory Care. I hope you find the right home for your loved one.

"Exceptional care and a warm atmosphere!"
The Windsor of Palm Coast is almost too good to be true. It’s warm and welcoming, and newcomers are treated like royalty. The nursing staff is attentive 24 hours a day, which we saw when we needed help. We can't say enough about how happy we are and highly recommend The Windsor as the best of all the places we visited.

"Highly Recommend This Place!"
My mom was one of the first residents here, and I visit her often. The staff and management are always friendly and willing to answer any questions I have. There have been some management changes, but they’ve all been for the better. Anytime I have a concern, management takes the time to listen and make sure my mom is comfortable and happy here.

"Steer Clear from Grand Villas of Deland Assisted Living"
Avoid Grand Villas of Deland for elder care! To prevent others from experiencing what we did, don't move any family members or friends into their facilities! After moving our loved one from their dementia unit due to continual injuries, neglect of personal hygiene (which they assured us they would handle in their agreement) and not helping feed them properly (also a commitment in their contract), plus the general lack of personal attention, it's clear they can't deliver on their promises. While their sales team is excellent at persuading, that's where the competence ends within that establishment. Yet, a truly responsible sales rep wouldn't advocate for an unhealthy environment, but that's another issue altogether. Also, their management is inept. Running a simple hotdog stand would be beyond their abilities, so how they got into their current roles is beyond belief.

"Wish I Was 100% Satisfied"
My mom's been at Grand Villa for a month. I wish I could say I'm 100% satisfied. Since she moved in, there's been a new executive director, a new memory care director, and another activities director. At first, Mom didn't get the promised assistance, so I had to make lots of calls to follow up on our care agreement. After meeting with those directors, things improved, but it's still not perfect—I expect perfection. The staff cares for Mom compassionately, but some of her needs aren't consistently met. We're working on it daily. However, when a dementia patient is lost in their own world, it doesn't matter to them, but it matters to the family. On a positive note, he, the memory care director, has been my main connection at Grand Villa. She goes above and beyond to keep me informed."
