"Communication Challenges"

Bay Wood Senior Living was friendly at first, but communication became difficult after my mom moved in.

"Caring, Professional Staff at Bay Wood Senior Living Earn Praise"

My mom lives at Bay Wood Senior Living. The staff are caring professionals. They answer my questions and address my concerns promptly. I've recommended it to others and will keep doing so. The whole staff is great.

"Care Declines After Assisted Living Facility Changes Hands"

My mom has dementia and she was staying at the Grand Villa. They really took great care of her. However, when Baywood took over, things got really bad. My mom had to move to memory care from assisted living and that's when they started neglecting her. She hurt her arm really bad once; it was all swollen and bruised but they didn't help her at all. She was in so much pain all night, but no one did anything. It made me so angry! They couldn't even tell us what happened. Then they said we had 45 days to find her a new home because they couldn't give her the care she needed, even though there were other people there worse than her. I wouldn't tell anyone to send their loved ones there. Now, mom is in a place where she gets individual care, and I'm so thankful!

"Bay Wood Assisted Living: A Happy Choice"

Our loved one receives excellent care at Bay Wood. The value is good, and we're happy. Recommended!

"Satisfied with Helpful Staff and Active Community Engagement"

They've been really helpful, and I'm happy with them. They're often busy, so reaching a nurse can be tricky. Interacting with the staff has been quite good. They have a lot of activities going on.

"Good tour, but not wheelchair friendly"

Bay Wood was a lot like another place we checked out. The tour was good. The person giving the tour was very professional and knew a lot. For my loved one in a wheelchair, the place wasn't quite right. But I thought it was still a good place.

"Uncommunicative, Unhelpful Senior Living Facility Unexpectedly Loses Sales Manager"

When I was trying to move my mom into this place, I was dealing with, who was in charge of sales. I tried to call her, but couldn't get through. When I went to the building, they said she didn't work there anymore. Nobody had told me anything about it! The people there weren't nice and didn't even suggest someone else who could help me. The sales manager I spoke with first was really nice and professional, and I thought this place would be perfect for my mom. But after what happened, I decided instead to move her.

"Costly for Its Offerings"

The place costs too much for what you get.

"Review of Pleasant Haven Assisted Living"

The assisted living facility is beautifully decorated and very clean. Most of the staff members are kind and understanding. Some even go out of their way to help with unusual problems. However, there are industry-wide issues, such as insufficient training for those responsible for administering medications and negative attitudes related to pay and staffing challenges.

"Great Staff and Fabulous Director Make Living Here a Joy!"

I've been living here for 2 years now and I love it! The staff is amazing, especially the Executive Director. Everyone is friendly and nice. I only wish we could have bigger meals in the evening. I'm proud to be an ambassador for this community and I love my job.

This place is clean. The staff is nice and knows what they’re doing. There are plenty of activities to join. I’ve lived here for two years and made lots of friends.

I like living here, though I do miss my home and neighbors. I enjoy helping people who need it, and the activity program is great.

"Cozy Living Haven"

This place is super convenient to live in. The staff is super nice and always ready to help. The big boss, [name removed], is super helpful and friendly too. They've got lots of fun stuff to do, so you won't get bored.

"Friendly staff and clean facility, a good choice!"

This was our second choice. The staff was friendly, and the lady who gave us the tour was very helpful and gave us lots of information. The place was bright, clean, and well-kept. The activity rooms were a bit small.

"High Prices for Small Spaces in Assisted Living Facility"

The price for these tiny one-bedroom units is just too steep for what they offer.

"Dad preferred elsewhere, but I thought it was nice."

When we checked out this place, I thought it was way better than where my dad stays now. But he wasn't too keen on it. The people who work there were really nice and friendly. The place looked really clean and taken care of. But since my dad didn't like it, he picked a different place.

"Money Over Matter: Total Neglect Ensues"

Watch out! This place just wants to grab your cash! I walked into my mom's room and it stunk of pee. She hadn't had a shower in over a week, even though we were paying for her care. There were tons of clothes and sheets soaked in urine, stuff they're supposed to clean up right away. It was awful! The people in charge really don't care about the folks who live there or their families! We moved our mom in at the end of August and got billed for the whole month! As her health was slipping, they told us we could pay more for better care. But she needed more than they could provide, and they didn’t want to lose the money she was bringing in every month. Shame on them! When we moved mom to a nursing facility in early December, they hit us up for the full month's rent! Plus, we had to fork over a whopping one-time "community fee" of $1500! So, for the 3.5 months mom was there, we ended up shelling out a massive $13,573.62! The administrators showed absolutely no kindness or care! We wanted mom to stay in this nice place, but she wasn't well enough, and all we got was a cold shoulder and a final debit from her account! If your relative is healthy and can stay there a while, go ahead. But if they are sick, don't think for a second that these folks will be honest or look after them!

"A Perfect Place for Our Loved One to Thrive and Belong!"

I was really happy to be guided to Grand Villa of Pinellas Park by the great representative from A Place for Mom. She gave us a list of options and shared her top picks. In the end, it came down to two places, but the care, convenience, and comfort my mom felt at Grand Villa won us over. Now she’s been there for two weeks and is already making friends and finding the sense of belonging she wanted.

"Who’s ready to play bingo?"

When I brought my loved one here for the first time, the whole staff introduced themselves and made us feel welcome. My loved one quickly joined in on the activities and was playing bingo by the time we left. All the residents say they’re happy and enjoy living here. We’ve found the perfect place.

"Clean Place but Not Wheelchair-Friendly"

This place is nice and clean, and my mom would have liked it if it was more wheelchair-friendly. The doorways are pretty narrow at 28 inches wide. Some doors are heavy and hard to open. The bathroom didn't have good wheelchair access. There weren't any cabinets below the sink for people who can't reach above. This wasn't a good fit for my mom because it didn't meet her needs.

"Enjoyable Tour, But Distance Rules Out Pinellas Park"

Grand Villa of Pinellas Park seems lovely. I had a decent time touring it to see what services they provide. However, it's just too far from my place for my mom.

"A Homey, Friendly Place with Great Staff"

The entrance feels cozy and like home. The employees I met were really nice. Bonnie, their Ambassador, showed my family member around during the first week, and she is awesome. The Chef, Miss Doris, was wonderful, and you'll always get a good meal with plenty to eat. Ester, also known as Sunshine, is a joy and a great help. The Hair Salon is a very convenient feature. Grand Villa is a nice, family-friendly place. I wish there were more outdoor areas for the residents to enjoy. Many thanks to Amanda, Nikki, and Raquel for answering all my questions and continuing to help. I would recommend Grand Villa of Pinellas Park. As she would say, "A cruise ship on land."

"Not a Great Fit if Your Loved One is Likely to Fall"

I feel like they didn't really keep a close eye on him. They didn't make sure that the residents were always using their help tools. One of the people working there even confessed to me that they need more staff. They came to our house to evaluate him and we told them from the start about the risk of him falling. But their evaluation wasn't that thorough, and they didn't consider much of what we said. If our family member was tougher and less breakable, it might have been fine because they focus on dementia patients. We've been having a terrible time trying to get our money back, and they've acted pretty mean about it. We didn't enjoy this experience at all. If your family member falls easily, this might not be the best place for them.

"They Care"

My mom moved to the Memory Care Unit after starting in assisted living. She felt a bit overlooked for a few days there, but nothing major. The staff acknowledges their staffing needs and is working on improvements. What stands out is their genuine care and conscientiousness.

"Grand Villa of Pinellas Park: a tad disappointing"

I paid a visit to this place when searching for a suitable spot for a family member. Although the other locations I checked out (one being another Grand Villa) were good, I didn't really like Grand Villa of Pinellas Park. Don't get me wrong, the people working there were nice and the folks living there seemed happy, but the whole building reminded me of an old-timey nursing home. I simply thought that my family member wouldn't feel at home there.

"Wonderful care and smiles at Grand Villa of Pinellas Park!"

My 94-year-old mom has been living at Grand Villa of Pinellas Park, Florida, since 2015. I moved her here from North Carolina while she was recovering from a femur fracture, and I can’t thank the staff enough for their amazing care. She’s so happy, which has helped her recovery and overall well-being. She’s making great progress every day, and I hope she’ll be even better soon. The facility is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, with lots of smiles and laughter from both residents and staff. The food is delicious with many choices, and the staff goes out of their way to meet everyone’s needs. They’ve been wonderful to both my mom and me, and I’d definitely recommend Grand Villa. There’s always something fun happening, so no one gets bored. It’s a very special place!

"Top-Notch Assisted Living"

Even though my family member was only there for a short time, he got great care from everyone at this place. Maintenance was super helpful, aides were caring and attentive, and the dining room staff was friendly. The food was very good, and the Friday afternoon happy hours with live music were a real treat.

"Absolutely fantastic care and service at Grand Villa!"

They've been absolutely amazing at Grand Villa of Pinellas Park! They've done a fantastic job caring for my mom. The customer service, from top to bottom, is just wonderful. The activities are great, and Mom even gave some suggestions that the activities director listened to and put into action. I would highly recommend Grand Villa of Pinellas Park to anyone!

"Dissatisfied with care and constant uncontrolled visitor nuisance."

Our time here was pretty rough. My relative was housed in the memory care part of the facility, and we came across a major issue wherein other patients were constantly moving in and out of her room. She had unknown people visiting her at all hours, and they claimed that nothing could be done to control this. It seemed like they were always understaffed, and the quality of care was damaged as a result. Also, I never really liked the food they served.

"Great facility with friendly staff and lots of activities!"

So far, our experience with Grand Villa of Pinellas Park has been great! I don't have much to compare it to, but we’re happy with what they offer. The facility looks nice and is well kept, and the staff are all friendly. They take good care of the residents and have many amenities and activities. It’s worth considering if you're looking in the area!

"A Great Place for Care and Comfort!"

It’s been a great experience! The facility is clean, and the staff is really friendly. There have been a few issues, like people coming in early without notice and waking her up to deliver things she doesn’t need right away. They do an amazing job with activities. She enjoys the food, but she mentioned that the portions are sometimes too big. Once she said something, they were quick to give her smaller portions. She loves the taste and variety of the meals. The staff has been incredibly kind to her and our family, making us feel at home whenever we visit. The only downside is that it can be hard to get a call returned; I know they’re busy, but it can take a whole day sometimes. Overall, it’s one of the best places for the price!

"We liked the place, clean and nice."

We liked the place. It was clean and nice. The price seemed fair compared to others. The activity director seemed good, and the list of activities looked really fun. The care services were similar to other places.

"Decent Spot but Couldn't Fully Care for My Mom"

It was a decent place. The workers were very friendly. This facility seemed like a great spot for older folks. Unfortunately, my mom needed more care than they could offer, but this community is indeed good.

"Fantastic place to call home"

What a great place! My dad has lived there for a while, and he loves his privacy and the activities they offer. There’s always something fun happening. He talks a lot about how nice the dining staff is and how good the food tastes. I had lunch with him, and the dining room was clean and fancy. The nursing staff really goes above and beyond to make sure he’s comfortable. They’re always smiling and checking if everything is okay. When I walk around, the building always looks and smells so clean. If you’re looking for a caring and professional team for your loved one, I highly recommend this place!

"Truly the best place for Dad!"

I was a little unsure at first because my dad was nervous about moving to a senior facility and being dependent. But it didn’t take long for him to make friends. Soon, he started enjoying the activities like happy hour, games, and guest entertainment. The staff is terrific, and the facility is always clean and nice. The care is excellent, and the nurses pay attention to details. I would highly recommend Grand Villa.

"A Friendly, Clean Place That Feels Like Family"

The differences at Grand Villa compared to the other company are huge. The staff is cheerful, friendly, and always goes out of their way to help. My dad really enjoys living there. The hallways, dining room, activity area, and billiards room are all neat and tidy—no bad smells or stains anywhere. The management is fantastic, too. A few months ago, my dad lost his room key, and the maintenance guy made him a new one right away, no questions asked. I love how the residents hang out in the lobby, joking and chatting with each other. It’s such a friendly, clean, and happy environment. I wish I could give more stars if I could! Keep up the amazing work. It really feels like home and like family.

"We're really getting what we pay for!"

We feel like we're getting our money's worth. The management staff I've talked to are top-notch—very attentive when she needs something. They offer Bible study, but she wishes there was a gym and more outings. The food is excellent, and they're working on getting a wheelchair-accessible van. The friendly administrative staff and welcoming atmosphere make it feel like home. We'd recommend them to everyone.

"Good Care and Nice Facility, But Some Issues"

They do a good job with the care here, and the place looks nice. We did have a few problems though, and ended up having to move my loved one out. My loved one was in a shared room and had issues with the roommate. The room was crowded with medical equipment, and there was a no-lights-at-night rule, which led to a few falls. I think these problems could have been fixed by giving her a different roommate, but they never tried that. It's a nice place but didn't work out for us because of these issues.

"Nice place, friendly staff, beautiful remodel"

They're doing a great job here, and my friend seems really happy. They're remodeling the whole building, inside and out, and everything they've finished so far looks beautiful. The staff is super friendly and professional, and they take the time to get to know all the residents. When you visit, they can always tell you where someone is and what they've been up to.

"Mixed Experiences From Dad's Stint With Shady Brook"

My Dad's Stay at Shady Brook Retirement Homes: Mixed Experiences" My dad had to live on the second floor even though he couldn't climb stairs. They even made him go down the stairs during a fire drill. The place also needs a good cleaning, especially the carpets and furniture. The toilets in the restrooms keep running and need to be replaced. There's nowhere to sit in the sun unless you're in the smoking area. They serve small meals and they need a new bus for taking residents around. Despite the negatives, they host wonderful family events. Most of the staff really care for the residents, but some shifts are severely understaffed. They also don't have fixed shower times, so it's hard for the residents to plan their day or go to bed early. My dad left earlier than planned, but they didn't reduce the charges. Also, they used a ribbon to lengthen the cord for the emergency buzzer.
