"Facility Fails in Communication and Refunds - Total Disaster"
My dad only stayed there for around two weeks. Everything was fine communication-wise until my dad actually checked in. From there on, they never bothered to reach out to me or my siblings when dad was sent to the hospital. The only time they contacted us was around a week later, asking what should be done with dad's stuff. They even let in a visitor we explicitly said no to. And to top it all off, we still haven't received any refund. This whole experience was a total mess.

"Poorly Managed Assisted Living Facility Fails Residents' Basic Needs"
This place barely meets state standards. All about profit. Terrible food. Residents neglected for staff convenience. Director's promises unfulfilled. Stuck here due to finances. Inconsistent medication schedules. Long waits for meals and meds.

"Mixed Care Quality at Assisted Living"
The staff in the common room is caring, but bedroom care needs improvement. Clothes go missing, and micromanagement is necessary for basic tasks like showering and teeth brushing. Hearing aids are not consistently managed.

"Expensive care home disrespects and exploits its residents"
Staying at this care home isn't a good idea. They disregard the needs of the residents and exploit them. Once you get in, you'll understand that it costs a lot and they treat the occupants poorly. They won't respect your rights, no matter what the agreement says.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short; Not Recommended"
The rooms aren't clean; I had to ask for cleaning. Staff is generally friendly but lacks follow-up. Wound care nurse isn't great. Not much assistance provided to my mom. She dislikes the food; I've never tried it. Activities exist, but my mom hasn't joined; no encouragement from staff. Expensive; doesn't match the value. New management struggles to improve. Wouldn't recommend La Orilla.

"Chose La Orilla for tour, but picked closer place."
During our search for a Memory Care facility, we toured La Orilla of St. Petersburg. It was a nice, clean place with friendly staff and good services. Ultimately, we chose a closer location.

"Assisted Living Facility Offers Subpar Service and Poorly Prepared Meals"
We shifted my father to the facility. Ever since the new director took control, things have been spiralling downwards. All the people living there keep saying the food is overcooked and barely tastes good. The workers in the dining room are rude and make the residents feel unimportant. Despite our payment for top-level care, there are days when his room isn't cleaned in time. You can only imagine the smell of unwashed Depends. They always assure us that they are trying to improve, but we see no results. Because dad is always hungry, we have to keep his fridge filled ourselves. We journey over an hour to reach this place. While the facility itself seems appealing, they fall short in maintaining the dignity of its residents. .

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Care and Communication"
I've been living here for three months. Last night, I had to go without pain medication for fifteen hours. I pressed my emergency pendant after twelve hours but had to wait a long time for help. Even after I pulled the room alarm and yelled for assistance, it took a while for someone to respond. When they did, they seemed more concerned about my TV volume than my pain. It only got worse when I tried to explain my situation. There's a closed floor for memory and special care residents, and I worry about the treatment they receive. Some of the staff treat me poorly, almost like I'm just a number. The dining room experience isn't much better.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Staff are very friendly! It's hard to reach nurses sometimes. Many complaints about food and dining service. No improvement noted. Lots of activities, mostly for women. Few options for active men. Occupational therapy staff is great. Physical therapy lacks equipment and space.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Community"
The community was nice, and the staff were friendly. But we felt more comfortable at a different place. It felt too much like a hospital and was near a busy highway.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"
The staff was super friendly and made me feel at ease. But the place was too big, and the drive would’ve been too far for me to visit often.

"Grand Villa Review"
I like Grand Villa, but it might be too big for my mom, and it's pricier than we can manage. I want to check out other places. The special deal for moving in didn't excite me much. Even with the $100 pet fee and the $200 move-in fee deducted, it's still about $500 to $600 more than what my mom can handle.

"Great care and friendly atmosphere at a newer facility!"
I always find help when I need it. I like them because they are really nice people. They have an EMT on staff, which is good. The Nurse's Aides have a lot of turnover, but the new staff is very kind and likes people. They are always sweet and nice to my dad. I also like that the dining coordinator tries to seat residents near people they have things in common with. While you can sit where you want, it's nice that they try to introduce people to each other. There are good activities, like live music and cocktails. I also like the coffee bar. They have multiple places to hang out and socialize, which makes things more enjoyable for residents. We chose this place because it's new, offers great care at a reasonable price, and is in a good location.

"Pleasant Place, Not Our Choice"
All the people here are really kind and get it. The place looks good, it’s tidy, and there’s no bad smells anywhere. The folks working here are super nice and always ready to lend a hand. But when it comes down to it, this place just doesn’t feel like the home we’re looking for my mom.

"Limited Activities but Hoping for Improvement"
In the beginning, we found it hard to settle in at this community due to the limited activities available for fun. Additionally, they weren't arranging church visits, which we found important. But generally, we're satisfied here, though my mom sometimes feels bored. We're hoping that the new director will bring some positive changes.

"Beautiful community with caring staff and great activities!"
This place is beautiful, and the staff is really caring. There are plenty of activities to keep seniors busy all day. I love that they offer everything from independent living to memory care with all-inclusive rates, so loved ones can stay here as they age.

"Happy with Care and Facilities"
We've been really happy with the care. The rooms are a good size and the community areas are big and bright. They have a large dining room and serve the main meal at lunch, which took some getting used to. In the evening, they offer sandwiches and lighter options. They also have always-available menu options. There's a café where residents can get light snacks during the day. Housekeeping is good. Laundry was an issue, but it got fixed. Labeling clothes is a must, which we didn't want to do at first. We'd like the pool to be heated; that would be nice.

Don't Put Mom Here!
"Steer Clear of Grand Villa in St. Petersburg, FL"
My mom moved to Grand Villa, an assisted living facility in St. Petersburg, Florida. Ever since she got there, it's been horrible. I've taken around 200 pictures over the past year that show all sorts of problems, like thousands of ants in her food, used diapers just left out, and dirty gloves on the kitchen counters. They've lost entire sets of my mom's clothes more than once. I've even seen her wearing the same dirty, food-stained outfit two days after I visited. If you pull the emergency cord in her room, you might have to wait up to 30 minutes for someone to show up. People think this place is good because it looks nice, but it's awful. If you search online for the company that owns the facility, you'll find out all the negative stuff you need to know.

"Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover"
This place may look nice, but don't be fooled. They don't have enough staff, and it's just a mess. My mom signed herself up for their top-tier care program, but they couldn't follow through on their promise. Instead of trying to improve, they just downgraded her care level. The food is pretty bad, too. There was a big shake-up in management in April, and I believe that's caused their poor service. Really a letdown, and now we're on the hunt for a new place for mom.

"Poor supervision and improper treatment leads to week-long hospital stay"
My mom has dementia affecting the front of her brain. Even though the living facility is pretty new and looks good, there's too many staff changes and the newcomers aren't trained well. Because of this, my mom isn't getting the care she needs. She wasn't getting help with her showers and she got a really bad rash. The facility didn't even notice until the rash was all over her upper body. Then, the staff didn't apply her rash medicine correctly, and it turned into an infection after a week. This ended with my mom having to be in the hospital for a week. On top of that, because the facility is split up into several floors, my mom is left alone in her room for hours each morning. She's too tired to get up around 6:30-7:00 am from her room on the 3rd floor, and ends up unsupervised since all the staff members are busy with the other residents on the 2nd floor for their 7:30 breakfast.

It’s been great so far. They treat my grandfather really well, and I’m happy we found this place. The inside is clean and well-maintained. Everyone is friendly, and the staff is very helpful. The care services are excellent, and my grandfather is well cared for. They have lots of activities, too. Grand Villa of St. Petersburg is a nice community, and we’re really happy with everything.

"Excellent place with great care!"
Grand Villa of St. Petersburg does an excellent job! It’s a really nice place overall, and I’d give them top marks everywhere. The area is lovely (when I first visited, I drove through a rough part of town). The place feels like a fancy estate! It's clean, well-kept, and the private rooms are a good size. The staff is friendly and professional, and they offer plenty of activities and outings. They really take great care of everyone who lives there!

This place, Grand Villa of St. Petersburg, is really good. It's all shiny and new and looks great! The people who work here are super nice and helpful. Sometimes they're still figuring out how to work together perfectly because they're new, but overall, they're doing a great job and will probably get even better!

Grand Villa has done a fabulous job so far, they're awesome! The staff are very friendly and treat my parents like family. When we drop them off after an outing, the staff always welcome them back. Mom loves the aide who helps her, saying, "She treats me like a queen!" Our experience has been wonderful, and I highly recommend Grand Villa to anyone looking for care in the area!
