"Long Wait Times Impact Assisted Living Experience"
I’d suggest it to others. They should hire more kitchen staff. The food’s decent, but the wait between the first course (fruit or salad) and the main meal is so long that my mom falls asleep and feels embarrassed. Most of the staff caring for my mom is good.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: New Staff, Food Concerns, Value Highlighted"
They recently got a new director of nursing, but we weren't properly introduced. We chose this community because of the friendly atmosphere and staff who know residents by name. There have been issues with misplaced laundry and changes in the food quality, as reported by other residents. Staff turnover has led to some new employees not being well-trained. Despite these challenges, it's considered a good value for the money.

"Business Focus Over Individual Care"
I believe they focus more on business than caring. The split between independent and assisted living creates a disconnect. It seems sales matter more than individual care.

"Caring Assisted Living with Roomy Spaces"
They’re having some staffing problems, like many places, and they’re now owned by someone new. They’re putting in effort to address everything, but it’ll take time. The prices are reasonable, and the rooms are more spacious than other places nearby. It’s an older facility, but it’s pleasant, and I feel they genuinely care.

"Mixed Experience at Discovery Village Assisted Living, but Great Apartment"
This place promises a lot, but sometimes it takes a while to get things done, especially the small stuff. The building is old, so they deal with the big issues first, which makes sense. But sometimes, it feels like the small things get put on the back burner for too long. For example, I was told I'd get an alert button when I signed up, but it's been over a month and I still haven't received it because it's on backorder. It would be nice if they had more supplies on hand for things like this. Overall, the apartment size is fantastic, and the rooms are great too. It's one of the best places I've seen, and the people here are really friendly. I'm here because I have to be, not because I want to be, but out of all the places I looked at, I'd still choose Discovery Village, despite the inconveniences.

""Discovery Village Vero Beach: Looks Good, But Neglects Elderly Needs""
Discovery Village Vero Beach is the absolute worst place for old folks. They seem to care more about fancy looks than fixing things and taking care of seniors' needs. I had problems with my air conditioning for five months. There were only two guys fixing stuff for 300 units. One of them told me management said to ignore fixing requests and instead ready the empty units. They overcharged me by a lot my first month and it took them two months to sort it out. They never fixed any of my problems. I slipped in the shower twice and even passed out once from the heat. It's the worst place ever. I asked to change my contract by a month so I could move to an available place somewhere else. They took two months to answer, and only said yes a week before I was supposed to leave. An elderly lady on the third floor passed out a bunch of times because they didn't fix her air conditioning. The folks there are scared to complain because they might have to leave. Most of them pay automatically, so they don't really understand what's happening, and their distant families keep taking money. It's a terrible, terrible place and I'm so happy to be gone.

"Horrible Living Conditions and Unfair Billing at Assisted Living Facility"
My grandfather stayed at Discovery Village (formerly named Isles of Vero) for four years. One day, they told us he couldn't stay anymore because he had been wandering off. The condition we found his room in when we moved him out was absolutely awful. The air conditioning in his room had been broken for two months - it still wasn't fixed by the time he left on September 30, 2021, making his room unbearably hot. There were boxes filled with cockroach feces, a swarm of ants in the kitchen, and a pile of dirty laundry with real feces in it. Fecal matter was also smeared on the bathroom walls. It was clear that caring for him had become too much for them, but they only let us know when he roamed and fell outside, turning him into a liability. We moved him out on September 30, 2021, and yet, in January they took over $4,000 out of his account for October, when he was no longer a resident. Up till now, they haven't refunded the money. The top boss is apparently too swamped to respond to our phone calls. When he finally does, he just says, "we will take care of it" (he said that two months ago) and "you should receive the check in 7-10 days" (that was a month ago).

"Delayed promises and service issues in assisted living facility experience."
Before moving in and paying, ensure promises are fulfilled. Initially, they assured us many things, but failed to deliver once my loved one moved in. For instance, it took 8 weeks to receive a call necklace promised for safety. The receptionist needs improvement, and maintenance requests, like changing a lightbulb, went unanswered. Dinners mostly consisted of sandwiches, occasionally with dessert. Activities provided were enjoyable. Despite promises, maid service included in the monthly fee was only provided once.

"Assisted Living Facility Undergoing Changes Needs Improvement"
The people who work here are really nice, and the place is getting better with renovations. The folks in charge and the ones who help with getting new residents are really kind. But lately, they're changing who's in charge, and it's been really bad. The people who take care of the residents don't seem to be doing a good job. The food isn't great either. They don't have enough people to serve meals in the dining room, so they either bring it to you or you have to go get it. We're hoping things will get better with the new management before we decide if we need to move our loved one somewhere else.

"Limited Lease Timing Concerns"
I really like this place for my grandma, but it bothers me that they won't let you sign a lease more than two weeks before moving in. Basically, if you don't want to pay rent for two places, you have to plan ahead and hope there's availability.

"Need To Follow Through With Promises Better, But Overall A Nice Community"
My father is mostly doing well since moving to this community. The main issue I’ve encountered is that they promised new shower doors for his room, but upon moving in, they didn’t install them. Instead, they replaced the existing doors with used ones. I believe they should honor their promises better. Apart from that, everything else is going smoothly. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the facility maintains good cleanliness. While my father isn’t thrilled with the meals, they do offer nice activities for residents. Overall, it’s a community I would recommend.”

"Unsure If Facility Can Meet Mom's Needs, Clean Building"
My mom moved here not too long ago, and I'm not sure it's the best place for her. She's been walking around everywhere and she might be needing more care than they can give. I'm going to see how she does over the next few days or so, but I may have to find her a different place to live. The property is always really tidy and well-kept for everyone living here. I'll give them that.

"Unresolved Issues and Untidy Environment!"
I'm dealing with numerous problems in my room. The carpet is unclean and my bathroom and sink are broken. There's an assisted living facility next door and their residents keep coming over to our independent living side for their meals. Sadly, there is rarely enough staff around to assist them which leaves the dining area messy. It often feels like it's up to me to care for them. On top of everything, I wasn't informed that water aerobics classes were only offered twice a week in the summer. I've tried discussing these issues with the director, but they haven't been very proactive in addressing my concerns.

"The Nitty Gritty: A Review of The Isles Assisted Living"
My mom and three friends lived at The Isles, so we visited often. When taking care of our house became too much, we didn’t hesitate to move here. The Isles has around 200 apartments in different layouts, and they’re more spacious than most other senior communities we’ve seen. (Size really matters when downsizing!) Facilities: The place is older, and everything is painted the same old white color. If you’re used to homes with fancy granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and over-the-range microwaves, the kitchens here might disappoint you. But guess what? We get three meals a day cooked by a professional chef, so I won’t be cooking much anyway. (Yay!) Meals: There are always choices on the menu. Although I’d prefer to have lunch whenever I want, the set meal times have an advantage—the staff, from top executives to everyone else, are there to help serve. It’s a great way to get to know people you might not meet otherwise. Plus, seating isn’t assigned, so you can chat with different neighbors. Activities: The scheduled activities are endless! You’d need a whole Downton Abbey staff to help you dress for each event in a day. But if that’s not your thing, no worries—you can stay in with a good book. People here respect each other’s privacy. Books and Tech: The library is small, and the DVD collection is even smaller. There’s only one computer with internet service for everyone to use. If you can’t live without 24/7 internet access, it looks like paying Comcast (whose basic TV service is free for all residents) is your only option. (Bummer.) Parking: Open parking is free, but covered spaces cost extra. Considering how many folks head to the dining room during mealtime, they could use more handicap parking spots. Laundry: They change your bedding and towels once a week—either yours or the ones they provide. There are free washers and dryers throughout the facility, and each unit has hookups for your own equipment. Maintenance: Johnny is always on the spot and super helpful. That’s why we left home for this place. How about you?

My aunt moved into the Isles last Friday. It was the first place we visited, and the apartment size was the most important thing for her. They have all the amenities she needs. "There are a few things I wasn’t thrilled with"
My mom likes it there, but there are some issues. The apartment's old hardware and lights needed replacing. I expected more updates for the price. It feels like they sold her the apartment and then disappeared. Activities take too long due to travel time. Food lacks variety. I wish residents had a better dining experience. I paid extra for 24/7 care, but they haven't assessed her yet. Beautiful facility, friendly residents, but I feel a bit misled.

"Great Value for Your Money"
If I hadn’t seen some places that compare to Club Med during my search, I’d say this place is a 5-star resort. For the price paid, you get incredible value. My only wish is for a few more activities, but Dad does get to go out every Friday if he wants. Overall, if you’re on a budget, you won’t find a better place. And if you have a bit more money to spare, there are additional activities available. All in all, it’s a fantastic place with an outstanding staff, especially if you’re looking for independent living.

"The Right Choice!"
My mom has been at Isles for about three weeks now, and we're really happy with everything. She’s told me several times that we made the right choice. The staff is very nice to her, and she loves the food, though she says there’s too much of it! From what I’ve seen and heard, she’s been encouraged to do more exercise, which she needs and enjoys. She’s also going to the game room in the afternoon and watching movies after dinner. Every Thursday, she gets her hair done. She’s living a fuller life now than when she was at home. Based on my experience, I think Isles is one of the best places around. Assisted living can be expensive, but their prices are competitive, and her apartment is spacious, so it’s a good value.
