"Neglected and Disappointed: Mom's Heartbreaking Experience at Memory Care Unit"

We've been greatly let down with our mom's treatment in this place's memory care unit. I can't say anything about the assisted living section. In the past, my mom used to look after older folks in our town's hospital. She used to share that you need to handle them with a gentleness, a kindness, and give them respect. Now, my family wrestles with feelings of remorse for having her in there. We have discovered her strapped down in her wheelchair ("for her own safety"), sitting in her feces-fillled diaper after she told them she couldn't hold it and couldn't find anyone to help. Her eyes were frequently grimy and crusty, and she commonly had food leftovers smeared on her face. There have been instances in the afternoon where her hands were still dirty from her breakfast. She's had multiple unexplainable injuries that nobody has any idea how they happened. Her glasses weren't always on her so she couldn't even see properly. The meals served seemed fine. The place was maintained clean. Some of the staff were really affable but seemed irritated with the amount of work they have to do. Like a lot of places, it's understaffed. Really a let down.

"Understaffed facility with unexplained injuries fails to provide proper care"

This assisted living home is not for loved ones. My mom had 13 mysterious injuries in a year, which even included broken bones. She had to go to the emergency room multiple times because of falling when no one was watching her and got staples in her head. If needed, I can show you the emergency room documents as proof. It's clear this is not the kind of care you'd want for someone you care about. There are just two workers there who are great, and they know who they are. Luckily, we were able to bring my mom back home after she fell for the eighth time with no one watching. I asked them if they could look at the security footage to find out how she's falling, but got no response. They would just tell us they're trying their best, but they're not. They're not educated enough to take care of someone with Alzheimer's. Just look at the residents, they're always idle. No daily logs are kept, so nobody has an idea what happened to my mom. Two injuries were explained, but only God knows about the rest.

"Small Community, Friendly Director"

This place is pretty tiny. I'm not a fan of the limited food choices—they've got nothing available right now. But the director is super nice.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living; Memory Care May Be Better"

Nice place, but unsure if they can handle his psychiatric medication needs. I think memory care, which includes everything and comes furnished, might be a better fit.

"Unhappy Experience: Assisted Living Facility with Unpleasant Surroundings"

I didn't like where it was located. It was right next to a run-down trailer park, which looked really bad. The entrance was strange because it had a fence around it. The memory unit had doors with combination locks on each room, which made me feel like I was in jail. The common areas, like the dining room and living room, were big but didn't have any windows. The rooms felt very plain and boring. I saw a sign that said visiting hours were restricted, which I think goes against the rules of the state. I couldn't wait to leave!
