"Assisted Living Review: Lots of Activities and Happy Residents"

They have many activities, and the staff is usually friendly. The food is alright. My dad likes living there.

"Assisted Living Falls Short on Meals and Cleanliness"

This place doesn't give meals for people with special diets. The cleaning is basic, just dusting and mopping lightly. The workers were nice, though. But for about $3,000 each month, it's smarter to rent a house and hire a cleaner.

"Assured Acceptance for Veterans"

I chose this community because it was the only place that assured the VA hospital they would accept me!

"Good staff but poor cleanliness; wealthy residents leaving daily."

The workers in the Independent section do a great job. However, they could definitely step up their game when it comes to tidying the hallways and trash room. This place is simply awful. Every single day, people who are lucky enough to have some savings are shifting out of here.

"Renovating post-hurricane, nurses need improvement, negotiable pricing, recommendable."

The place is fixing up after the hurricane. Nurses need improvement. Still, recommend to others. Negotiable pricing, got fee waived.

"Mixed Reviews: Convenient Location and Friendly Atmosphere, Food Quality Lacks"

It's decent overall, but the food gets lots of complaints. We chose it for its proximity and affordability. People and staff are nice.

"Nice community with some drawbacks, overall recommended."

We can’t say much about the care quality because our loved one lives independently. But when it comes to meals, she doesn’t always eat what they serve. Plus, there’s no activities director right now. The cost is tricky—her rent went up [fee removed] since moving in, and they share transportation with another facility. They also got rid of the overnight desk person. Still, we’d recommend them. It’s a nice community and a good place for her.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"

I'd recommend this place, but it has some issues. Mom's happy, though. It's clean, staff are friendly, and there are lots of activities. Holidays are celebrated beautifully. But they need more help—the staff is overworked. Still, my mother loves living there.

"Improvements Needed in Assisted Living Facility's Food"

The meals here could really use some upgrades. The hamburgers need higher-grade meat. Plus, it'd be great if they'd serve actual eggs. Aside from that, the rest has been acceptable so far.

"Friendly Atmosphere, but Needs Better Common Area Maintenance"

Apparently, the food served is good. There are LOTS of activities. The individual rooms are updated and clean. There is an equal balance of men and women. Negative: Common areas desperately need updating and organization. They don't keep them clean. It seems like they never vacuum the floor. There is only one common area, and it doesn't accommodate enough people for popular activities. There is just one small, very slow elevator on the assisted side. Parking and drop-off at the entrance only fit the resident transport bus. My loved one has adjusted and made friends. It's not all bad. There are plenty of upbeat residents who "still have life in them," which contrasts to other places I visited where the residents were all grumpy and complaining. I know that sounds unkind, but it makes a difference. The residents are active and don't stay in their rooms all day, so they use that space (which is really good). My loved one is very comfortable here, it is just housekeeping that needs to step up.

"Residents Express Concerns About Food Quality"

This community is more affordable and the staff are friendly. The food is okay some days, but residents often complain about its quality. Communication with families has been good, but outstanding work requests remain from when my loved one moved in.

"Lackluster Senior Living Experience"

If you want a senior apartment where they serve three meals a day buffet-style but don't bother checking if you actually eat them, this place is for you. The activities are basic, and the entertainment is decent. Overall, it feels like they're just collecting rent without really interacting with residents.

"Clean and friendly, but rooms are small"

Touring this place was nice. It was very clean, and the staff was friendly. The only thing we didn’t like was that the rooms were a bit small.

"Comfortable Living with Room for Improvement"

Living at Truewood is worth it. The apartments are okay, but we'd prefer a full kitchen instead of a small kitchenette with a tiny fridge and a microwave. The staff has been attentive and helpful so far—no complaints there. For everyone's safety, there should be more lights in the back, along the sidewalks, and in the parking lot. They provide three meals a day, but the food could be better. Breakfast and lunch are too close together. I'd like to see more variety and bigger portions. Overall, I still recommend it for the price.
