"Needs improvement in various areas."

From what we've seen, they need to work on some things.

"Better Communication Needed in Assisted Living Facility"

Things they could do better: Our experience began positively, but after less than 5 months, our loved one contracted COVID and passed away. Communication during that time could have been much improved and might have prevented some issues.

"Welcoming and Small Assisted Living with Great Director"

I live in Massachusetts, so I mostly managed from afar. I was my brother's only relative. He was in memory care. I also hired a private caregiver for five hours a day. When I visited South Florida for a month this winter, I found Sonata to be welcoming. The place is relatively small, which is good. The director is terrific.

"Great new director improving the facility"

I've already told others about Sonata Boynton Beach. They got a new Executive Director in August 2022, and he's been making good changes.

"Deceptive Cost and Poor Care at Assisted Living Facility"

The place looked neat, and they acted nice enough. But they weren't honest about their prices and snuck in some extra fees. They weren't forthright about their costs right from the start. They really need to step up their game in providing services. My family member had issues with communicating, and they didn't provide the necessary care required. I definitely won't be using this place again.

"Assisted Living Done Right!"

They had various buildings, nurses on staff, and provided 24-hour care. It felt like a true assisted living facility.

"Mixed experience, recommend for attentive care despite some shortcomings."

I'd recommend Sonata for its caring staff and attention to residents. Staff friendly, food needs improvement, management caring.

"Great décor and convenient layout"

The best part of Sonata Boynton Beach, according to our loved one, is the décor. It's always nicely decorated with beautiful surroundings. We wanted a smaller community, and everything is right outside their room. The gathering area and dining hall are very close by. We would recommend this community to others based on our experience so far.

"Looks Can Be Deceiving At This Assisted Living Facility"

If someone needs special care or extra help, this isn't the right place. The admin and care workers were awful, though some folks were trying their hardest. The food was okay. But all in all, it appears better than it actually is.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

I adore the building—it's so bright and open. It's great for folks who are mentally sharp and can ask for assistance. My loved one has dementia, so we're there often to keep an eye on things. Unfortunately, they don't check on her as much as I'd like. On the bright side, they're excellent at finding lost dentures and hearing aids. Overall, responsiveness and bathing need improvement. But my loved one seems content, which matters most.

"More staff needed for resident communication."

The staff during the admission process were incredibly helpful. However, communication fell short after my loved one joined the community. I had to hire an aide due to personal issues related to memory care costs. They did assist with room setup, though.

"Cozy neighborhood feel, responsive staff for loved one's care."

It's cozy, not like a big institution; feels like a neighborhood. Each building has 20-25 people. Staff is responsive and helpful.

"Comfortable, clean facility with helpful staff and engaging activities."

The facility is great! The staff are nice and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Activities keep residents engaged and happy.

"Activities are exciting!"

My mother has been living in assisted living here for a while. The Activities Director is fantastic! She always plans new and fun activities for the residents. You can tell she really loves her job. Her staff is very polite, and other residents call her the sparkle of Sonata. This place is definitely worth a visit.

"Decent Place, May Not Suit Mom"

We had a good tour, everything looked clean and attractive. The workers were friendly and helped answer our questions. We even had lunch and chatted with some folks who live there and they seem to enjoy it. We just aren't sure if this place is the best choice for my mom.

"Tour Went Smooth, But Community Too Small for Preference"

I visited this place for my friend, considering her needs. The tour was good, and everyone was friendly. The place was neat, but it felt a bit too tiny for what I wanted. The person guiding me was nice and told me a lot of helpful things. They answered my questions. It was okay, but I wished the place was bigger.

"My dad's needs are well taken care of."

I really like the care at this community. The staff is helpful and caring toward my dad’s needs. It’s a clean place with a nice atmosphere. The menu has been good, and he’s happy with the variety. They also offer lots of fun activities. I’d recommend this community for good care and value to other families.

"Mom Thriving in Caring Community"

My mom's really happy at this place. They're looking after her great, making sure she's taken care of. The place looks really nice every time I go to see her. I'm super happy with what they've done for us. I'd tell others to check this place out.

""Decent Place with Four Buildings""

It was decent. There were 4 buildings.

"Nice Assisted Living Facility, But Too Pricey For Me"

This place gave me a nice tour. Everyone there was really friendly. The people who work there told me a lot about it and were really nice. The place looked great and clean. They had fun stuff to do and good food, but it was just too much money for me.

"Not My Preferred Option!"

I didn't really like Sonata Boynton Beach because it had separate buildings. I wanted everything under one roof, especially during cold or rainy weather. However, the staff's care and attention were great! They were very nice and accommodating. It just wasn't the layout I was looking for.

"Needs Facility Improvement: Relating to Room 3111 Resident's Family"

Sonata Boynton Beach could really improve. Their food options are the same every day and they don't offer soup or salad for the lunch and dinner. There aren't many social activities and there's no entertainment after lunch. Most people leave around 1 PM and by 3 PM, most are taking a nap. The carpet in building number 3 is really dirty, it's gross. The cloth napkins at meal times usually have stains on them, which is pretty gross. They should replace them. They also need more nurses around the clock. They are short-staffed. We have two private HHC aides for my dad to help, and even with the paid pendant alarm, I'm not sure if someone would get to him quick enough. I've seen other residents call for help and no one seems rushed to help.

""

I thought the community was a nice place to visit. I was on time for my tour, and the staff was all nice. The place was clean. The only issue was my brother's age (he's 64), so they couldn't accommodate him.

"Great Place with Caring Staff"

This is a wonderful community. My dad isn't in the best health, but they take good care of him. The only thing they need to work on is the food. My dad needs bigger portions than what they give him. Besides the meals, everything else is great here. The staff is amazing, very helpful, and always paying attention. I would highly recommend this community. It's really a nice place.

"Happy with Mother's Care at This Community"

Everything is going well for my mother since she moved here. I haven't had any problems with this community. She is doing well, and I'm happy with all they've done for us. They are giving her good care. I know she is safe and in good hands at this community.

"Mom is thriving, safe, and happy at Brookdale!"

My mom is doing so well, and I’m beyond happy. I can’t stop praising Brookdale, and she’s truly happy here. She’s turned things around and is getting stronger. The staff are amazing and took great care of her, especially during the hurricane. She felt safe, happy, and content. It really feels like home, and we have no complaints.

"Very happy with Brookdale on Congress!"

We were really nervous about moving my 101-year-old mother from her familiar independent living home to an assisted living facility, but it needed to happen. Now, I wish we had done it a few years earlier, and so does she. She feels relaxed and safe now. The staff at Brookdale have been wonderful and very attentive. Brookdale on Congress and 23rd in Boynton Beach is spotless, and the food is good and nicely presented. She has only been there for a month, but we haven’t had any complaints worth mentioning. Any adjustments needed were handled quickly after we talked to the staff. Each resident has unique needs and habits, and the staff meets them with care and understanding.

"Safe, clean, and caring environment; highly recommended for loved ones."

My mom's been at Brookdale Boynton Beach for 3 weeks in the Memory Care Unit. She's getting great care and attention. I'm really glad she's safe, clean, and eating well. Right from the start, I felt comfy with their staff. It feels like home there. They even gave me names of moving companies, which was a big help. They always keep me updated about my mom's condition. If I ever need this kind of care, I'd choose them for myself. Keep it up!

"Community-Focused Staff at Studio Assisted Living"

They only offer studio rooms. Staff was very connected to the community, knowing residents personally and his staff.

"Everything is excellent here!"

The care here is excellent! I love how small it is, so you can’t get lost.

"Great Staff, Lack of Activity Communication"

The folks there are awesome. My only gripe is, they don't tell us enough about what's happening when. Everyone's super nice, though. It's clear they really care about the people they work with. Everything else is solid.

"Comfortable, homelike community with caring staff and great activities!"

We looked at every place in Boynton Beach, but we chose Brookdale at Homewood for my 89-year-old mom. The homey feel, attentive staff, and great layout stood out to us. The activity director is amazing—so full of energy and care for the residents. She’s a real asset! We didn’t pick the fanciest place; we picked the one that felt comfortable and welcoming. For my mom, it’s been the right fit. The total cost depends on the level of care needed.

"By far the best choice!"

A Place For Mom gave us six recommendations, and this one was the best. The others were good, but we chose this one because it's close. Very simple.

"Happy with Care"

Great place for elderly people needing help with meals, care, outings, activities, and socializing. For Alzheimer's care, I recommend Pacifica Senior Living—they specialize in it and do a great job!

"Top Choice Assisted Living: Clean, Independent, Affordable Community"

This place is ranked as the number one choice for me. It's really clean. I like that each building can stand on its own. It's not a big community, but residents can still interact with others in different buildings. The prices here are great. It's definitely one of our top picks.

4/5.00 Published 10 years ago

"Staff Can't Watch Everyone"

The staff should pay more attention to each resident as problems come up. The residents are there because they can't take care of themselves. The staff can't watch everyone because there aren't enough of them. It would be better if they had more staff available in case something happens. From what I hear, the food is good! The place seems pretty clean too.

"Great care for my father!"

They have taken great care of my father.

"Impressive Housing, Disappointing Care Services"

The housing area looks impressive and is meticulously kept clean. Each structure houses about 10-15 people which gives it a family feel, particularly with dedicated dining spaces in every building. The outdoors, with its picturesque gardens, serves as a lovely relaxation spot. However, in spite of the housing area being pleasant, the care services fell short of expectations. Their self-identification as a capable Alzheimer's/Dementia care center seems deceiving, as they appear to struggle with addressing the needs of dementia patients. Rather than tending to patients in-house, they tend to outsource to external services that you end up footing the bill for. They might even contact emergency services or hire a nurse for your family member's care. It appears like their staff lacks relevant experience in managing such complex situations.

"Homewood is nice but too expensive"

Homewood is a really nice place, but it's too expensive for us.
