" "Unhelpful, unprofessional staff ruins visit to potential home for dad.""
I visited this place, thinking about my dad moving in. The front desk manners were awful and super unprofessional. There was nobody around to answer my questions or tell me about the costs. It was mid-afternoon, so you'd think there would be someone to talk to. But they said they were getting ready for some party and no one was free. I chatted with a woman in the lobby who lived there. She told me she wished she could afford to live somewhere else because the rent keeps going up and things aren't great with the new people in charge. I don't plan on returning to speak with anyone. I'm likely going to look for a different place for my dad because this place just has a bad vibe.

"Beware of Spring Haven: Infested and Charges for Pest Control"
My mom's been staying at Spring Haven for a few years now. Recently, she’s had a big problem with bed bugs. Cockroaches have been around for some time and they still haven't gotten rid of them. They're all over mom's kitchen and bathroom. But, what scares me even more are the bed bugs! They're all over the place!! Beware! Don't choose Spring Haven because they will try to bill you for pest control, even though it’s not your relative’s fault! They've made a bunch of upgrades, but I’ve still seen pest in their dining room!

"Friendly Staff and Good Food!"
They clean my apartment once a week, and the staff is friendly and attentive. The food is usually simple and very good. They offer transportation for outings, but moving in can be a bit tricky without a load elevator. Overall, I’d recommend this facility to others.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Improvements ongoing but tired of sandy entrance, unpleasant smell inside. Staff friendly but often short-staffed, especially during dining times. Food quality subpar, leading to long lines and limited options. Assisted-living residents felt overlooked. No participation in activities. Affordable but reflects in quality. Concerns remain about limited facilities and long hallways.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Food, Amenities, and Management"
This place feels like being in jail, with basic meals and little variety. Chicken and fish are on the menu four times a week. Arrive on time for meals, or you might miss out entirely. Today's lunch was only half a grilled cheese sandwich, bland beef broth with a few veggies, and some seasoned squash. The swimming pool has been closed for 40 days due to patio repairs, even during one of the hottest summers on record. There's no urgency to finish the job. In the assisted living area, incompetence is common. The nursing head won't order residents' medications, leaving them without necessary meds for days. In the two years I've lived here, we've had three management companies and six executive directors. The last straw was being told at dinner that there's no coffee because the machine providers haven't been paid in six months.

"Large Facility with Outdated and Cheap Furniture"
This is a large assisted living facility with different sections including independent and memory care. They were doing construction work in the memory care area when I visited. I tried to ignore that, but I found the common areas to be too small. Also, the furniture was not only old and out-of-date, but it seemed cheaply made and fragile. If my Grandmother were to live here, she would need to be in the assisted living section and have her own room. The rooms are like small apartments with a mini kitchen, living area, and bedroom.

"Mom loves her new home"
When my mom moved in, people came to meet and welcome her. She found the dining room easily and loved the meals, especially the Sunday breakfast buffet. So many activities, so many choices! I also LOVE that she’ll be taken to her doctor's appointments and on shopping trips.

"Great place for mom with caring staff!"
I was really worried about moving my mom to independent living in Florida since I live in Maryland. Both my mom and I were so happy with Spring Haven that I returned to Maryland knowing my mom was safe, in a clean place, with friendly caregivers looking after her. And all for a great price! I have no complaints about the staff or the home itself. It was such a relief for me.

"Perfect care and happiness for Dad!"
We chose Spring Haven for our 97-year-old dad, and the whole experience has been great. The care he gets in Memory Care is attentive, kind, and steady. Dad is really happy, and so are we. This place is wonderful.

"Convenient location, varied activities, friendly staff, average food quality."
The people who work here are really nice. But, I don't really like the food. They do have some healthy options though. The folks who clean up are really good at their job. Plus, they have stuff to do every day. This place is near a restaurant and a pharmacy, which will bring stuff to you if you're part of the community. I'd say this place is worth checking out.

"Good Place, Needs Better Communication and Accuracy"
This place is good, but they need to make sure they're doing everything asked. I think they've been trained to always give good news, but sometimes they admit they didn't do something and say sorry. It's frustrating when they don't get back to you. Some stuff wasn't as it was described during our tour. If I had to do it all over, I'd consider other options." Headline:

"Stinky Carpet and High Resident-To-Staff Ratio"
When I toured this property, I wasn't impressed at all. I'm not a fan of carpet since they can trap bad smells. This place definitely had a stinky carpet issue. Plus, there seemed to be more residents compared to staff than what I would like. The place is also larger than what we're searching for.

""Could Do Better With Services And Scheduling!""
This place needs some general upgrades for its seniors. My family member didn't get any of the promised laundry services after moving in and her room's cleanliness seems to be kind of neglected. Mealtimes are scheduled weirdly in the dining room, making it hard for my mom to join.

"The Staff Ensure My Dad's Well-Being"
The care is going well, and the staff give my dad the medicine he needs. He eats everything, and there are no problems with the meals. They offer activities, and my dad receives physical therapy. However, I've noticed that not all of his clothes are in his room during my visits—I'm told they're in the laundry room. Overall, I recommend them because caring for our loved ones can be challenging.

"Feels Unwelcoming, Not Suitable for My Loved One"
During my visit to this facility, I was quickly disappointed. I saw the residents just lounging around seeming unhappy. There was an unpleasant odor in the rooms which appeared unclean. While the exterior of the community was quite attractive, I couldn't help but sense that this wasn't the right place for my family member.

"Friendly Staff, Great Food, Needs Updating"
Spring Haven has a very friendly atmosphere. The staff is super nice to everyone. The food is ALWAYS excellent, and it's great to have different choices. The facility itself could use some upgrading. It's old and could be cleaner. The rooms have brown carpeting and fake wood; it feels a bit gloomy. It would be better with lighter or brighter colors. The cleaning service should do a better job with the bathrooms. Overall, I recommend this place.

"Decent Facility, Needs Repairs and Improved Dining Experience"
So far it's not bad. The rooms are big enough and the view is beautiful! The staff in the Independent Living section are kind and helpful. However, this place badly needs a few repairs. The lake dock is absolutely out of order and pretty dangerous - it needs fixing fast. The people who serve food don't really interact much with the residents and usually seem to be in a hurry to get things done, as if they're always trying to get the residents to finish their meals quickly. And, dinnertime is just too early!

"Mixed feelings about Mom's transition to Spring Haven."
My mom recently moved into Spring Haven, and it was a major change for her. The initial moving day wasn't the best. We drove the moving trucks and told the staff we were there. A woman said she'd guide my mom to her room while we unloaded. But after waiting a long time, my mom appeared in the back on her own, keys in hand, which bothered me. My mom was left alone until a week after her moving date before anyone checked on her. It also upset me that someone had my mom sign a document to stop her HMO and switch to only Medicare without telling me first. Thankfully, they fixed the lack of communication quickly. Despite these issues, my mom appears to be settling in and has made some friends. She's usually not one to join in group activities, but I'm hoping she'll change her mind soon. The staff have been helpful and are working on their communication.

"Great Place"
Our mother needed assisted living after our father passed away. It's one of the most important decisions you will make. Our family was so impressed with Spring Haven from the start. We visited many places, but Spring Haven was the right fit. The staff is friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Sadly, our mother never moved in due to health.

"Nice place, overall"
Spring Haven Retirement has been a good experience overall. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the price is affordable. I'd like more variety in the meals, though—I often see the same chicken and fish dishes. Also, some listed activities get cancelled, which I hope isn't a trend. But overall, it's a nice place and a good solution for us!

"Friendly Staff but Inconsistent Services at Assisted Living Facility"
As a resident here, I've noticed that the facility struggles with carrying out its routine well. In general, their staff is pleasant but short on actual results. One issue is their lack of personnel. Their implementation of activities is anything but stable. Frequently, they run out of the meal options advertised on their daily menu. This isn't to say you starve, but not everyone gets the meal they promised. Twice a day, meals are buffet-style and often involves standing in line for over 20 minutes. Dinner at 4 PM is a sit-down meal where you might wait more than 20 minutes, sometimes even 30, to be served. They do offer free rides to the doctor three days a week, which is helpful. Interestingly, if you ask the right person, you can also get a ride to the local pharmacy. But if you ask someone else, they'll tell you they don't provide that service. They're not exactly consistent. They offer several activities, but these scheduled events often get canned without any explanation or heads-up.

"Mixed Feelings About Spring Haven's Memory Care Area"
Our experience with Spring Haven is a mixed bag. The employees are nice and the place is neat and tidy. But, the memory care area doesn't quite hit the mark. The rest of the set-up is pretty good and spacious, but the memory care area feels too packed and uncomfortable. Also, it feels like they need more staff in that section.

"Exasperating Communication Failure: My Experience with Springhaven"
My Dad moved into this Florida retirement home in March 2013 while I resided in Ohio where consistent communication was critical for me. All started well, with good follow ups whenever anything crucial occurred. That was until it no longer happened. There was a particular instance when Dad was having trouble with falls, and then, out of the blue, the hospital called to inform me he was admitted after an emergency room visit three days earlier. It was a surprise since Springhaven never told me. I only got to know after the hospital received my contact details. Sadly, Dad passed on a few weeks after, but at least we got to be with him in his last moments. Following his death, everything became a hassle. I required some documents for Dad's estate and long term care insurance reimbursement, which ideally, they should have managed to ensure Dad's bills were covered. But they had fallen behind. Truthfully, getting someone to rectify these issues became nearly impossible after Dad's demise. After an exhaustive search, I was finally able to reach out to their parent company and pushed for some action. Juggling all these administrative tasks while coping with the loss of a parent was undeniably stressful. Maybe my case was unique. I certainly hope so.

"Communication Lacking at Assisted Living Facility"
They really need to improve their communication. My family member went to the hospital, but they didn't get in touch with me. I called them to ask why, but they haven't responded yet. ""Communication Crisis at Assisted Living Facility""
My experience at this assisted living facility was dreadful. The folks giving care were pleasant. However, this institution had an issue with effective communication all around. Staff members didn't effectively pass information between shifts, with tasks left unfinished. Trying to have dialogues with the management was a dead end. Persisting billing problems arose, with numerous unanswered messages or being sent from one phone operator to another. After our departure, we got billed for additional months with no explanation or refund. A change in medicine providers occurred mid month without prior notice, leading to a shortage of necessary medication. No one could provide information on acquiring the rest of the month's medicine. This facility was in a transition phase to new ownership which could have been a factor, yet this atrocious service is no excuse. I wouldn't advise anyone to consider this place for their loved ones." The headline for this review could be: .
