"Unprofessional Assisted Living Facility Refuses Refund After Reversal"

My folks planned to move to Brighten Gardens assisted living before my dad's leg was amputated. While dad recovered in a clinic, mom moved into the new place. Then, dad got a pressure sore in the clinic, and was told he couldn't move to Brighten Gardens until he healed. As a diabetic with poor blood flow, healing was going to take awhile. This put mom in a jam - she was stuck paying for a service they didn't need, since it might be a long time before dad could join her, if ever. They decided to move back to the condo they'd planned to sell. The Brighten Gardens staff, run by the Sunrise Senior Living company, were hard to deal with. They didn't want to give my parents back the money for the care dad was never given. We finally got a lawyer, and even then only got part of the refund after lots of struggle. The people in charge of selling places at Brighten Gardens showed no kindness to my mom's tough spot, acting really unprofessionally about the whole thing.

"Friendly Staff, Many Facility Issues Unresolved"

Two weeks after moving into the assisted living facility, we’ve encountered several issues. We’ve informed management about a lack of food, a floor that needs fixing, and a dead power outlet in the bathroom. The dishwasher isn’t cleaning dishes properly, requiring us to run it multiple times. The bracket for the blinds on the porch door is loose and unsafe. Housekeeping was absent the first week and did a poor job the second week, leaving our appliances unplugged and the floor dirty. We’ve reported these problems repeatedly. Management has admitted they’re overwhelmed with tasks. The food is often overcooked, and it takes a long time to be seated for dinner and Sunday brunch. We asked for a walkway from our porch to the main sidewalk before we arrived, but it hasn’t been addressed. The staff members are kind, and management seems friendly, promising to fix things, but we haven’t seen any action yet. We’re hoping our issues will be addressed cordially and professionally soon.

"Great Value and Friendly, Active Community"

My friend picked Stratford Court because it was a good deal, and the apartment she moved into was newly redone and really nice. The staff there are very friendly, and the community has lots of people and seems very lively. My friend thinks it's a bit more "formal" than what she's used to – most people dress up nicely for dinner. It's not a "jeans and sweatpants" kind of place.

"Sunrise Facility Disappointing: Deceptive Management and Poor Care"

Sunrise seems to show little regard for their residents, only seeing them as a way to make money. The manager of the Boca Property deceives residents about a variety of things, ranging from shortage of staff to issues around the community that need repairing. They have a high turnover of staff and they seem to accept residents in any health condition. The building gives off the vibe of being 40 years old. During a recent tour I took of the place, I had a conversation with one of the staff members who advised against anyone moving in. My tour included checking out both independent and assisted living quarters. I chose to leave and ultimately decided on a better facility.

"Totally Unimpressed with our Stratford Court Tour Experience"

Our tour of Stratford Court at Boca Pointe really stunk. First off, it's a mile and a half from where you park your car to the door. It was super crowded when we got there because they were all getting on a bus or something. Moving around was super tough. When we stepped inside, there was nobody at the front desk and we were totally left hanging even though we had set up a time to be there. After hanging around for a bit and looking at things, we saw the lobby was packed with a messy mix of people. Some looked like they needed a lot of help, and some didn't look like they needed help at all. That wasn't cool for us. We figured this wasn't the right place for us and we bounced. As we were leaving, there was still no-one at the front desk.

"Spacious Rooms with Kitchenette at Stratford Court of Boca Pointe"

I really liked visiting Stratford Court of Boca Pointe. The rooms there are nice because they have a bedroom and also a kitchenette with a sink, fridge, and counter. Some other places we looked at didn't have that. It was just a bit too big for what we needed.

"High Prices and Dated Facilities at Assisted Living Home"

I visited this place. It looked pretty worn out and didn't seem to be well taken care of or modern. The price for assisted living seemed too much. The cost for independent living was alright though.

"Stratford Court: Above Average, Needs Follow-Up"

Make sure to check out different places to find what’s best for your whole family. Stratford Court is definitely nicer than a lot of other spots I’ve visited. But you’ve got to keep in touch with them and stay aware of what’s happening.

"Satisfied with Stratford Court, Minor Issues Noted"

My family member thinks the outside of the place looks great, and the gardens are lovely. When we visited her room, we found some sticky spots on the counters and her storage area was not clean at all, filled with garbage and stuff. The shared spaces were neat, but her room could use a better cleaning. She’s super neat and gets bothered by even small marks on shiny surfaces. She had to get a new medicine cabinet because the old one was rusty. The head of the community fixed what she asked for, which was awesome. But she couldn’t get the sales director to come check out her room’s issues, even though she was really helpful at first. My family member expected the same attention she got at her last place and feels they need more staff here. My aunt enjoys the food a lot, which is important when you live in a place like this. They have different kinds of fish every day and even offer beer or wine on Fridays for dinner. She doesn’t join many activities but likes their big library and books. She wishes she knew about the patio work before moving in because she just dealt with renovations before. They said they’ll give some money back for the space she can’t use right now. It’s weird that the rooms don’t have microwaves since most meals are provided. You’d need one for heating tea or snacks. She had to buy her own, which should’ve been included. If someone needed to move to Florida, I’d tell them to check out Stratford Court. Our local family thinks we chose well. I’d tell anyone looking for senior living around there to visit. Also, A Place for Mom was super helpful! They quickly switched to showing us places in Florida when my family member decided to move back there from Pennsylvania. They gave us virtual tours and floor plans, which was great since I couldn’t be there in person.
