"Barrington Assisted Living Review"

The staff at Barrington is friendly and activities are enjoyable. Although I don't join in much, there's a lot on the schedule. The place is neat and the caregivers are really good.

"Well-Rounded Community with Management Changes Watch for Details"

I chose this place after visiting three others and liking it the most. Since new people started running things last fall, it’s different. It’s crucial to note that they don’t use lifts here. I placed my loved one here because he kept falling, but no one reminded me about it afterward.

"Medication Management Needs Improvement but Issues Resolved"

One big area they need to fix is giving out medicines. Sometimes, Mom didn’t get all her meds on time. When she asked for the missing ones, they brought those and the ones she already got. There’s no list to show who gave what meds and when. This could make people take too much or too little medicine. We haven’t had this problem for a while, so maybe they fixed it.

"Horrifying Conditions & Management at Assisted Living Facility"

Steer clear of this place for your family. I recently visited my grandmother and I'm trying to convince my parents to move her somewhere else. She's become fond of the friends she made and enjoys the activity staff. But, she also mentioned the front door has been busted since last Christmas and the building is always freezing because there's no heat. The building-wide air conditioning is in constant repair disrupting everybody's comfort. Just this week, they had to shut off water and power. What really freaked me out was a story she shared. A fellow resident died during a meal and the staff moved the body back to their apartment! I have no idea who's in charge of this disaster, but they definitely need to lose their job.

Some caring staff, good meals, lots of activities, but staffing challenges.

"The truth about the Barrington"

I’ve been working here as a Private Caregiver for a little over a year now, and I am appalled by some of the behavior. Since I got here NONE of the staff comes in 6am-2pm to check on my patient or see if they need assistance with her showers or anything. The staff come in twice a day, and that’s only to give her medication. Some of them try to leave the medication with me to give to her instead of bringing it themselves. They can’t keep staff, they're always short staff and the staff is lazy. There have been times I leave at night and come back and she has the same clothes on. None of the staff pick up the trash, I'm usually the one who picks it up and leaves it outside the door. I leave at night and when I come back in the morning it's still there. The call lights ring for a long time before anyone actually assists a resident. What's worse is that these people pay all this money to live here and extra for the type of care they need. They're not getting what they or their family members are paying hard earned money for. We have got to do better.

"Helpful Staff Installed Fan Perfectly"

I recently bought a ceiling fan for my apartment, and the staff was very helpful in installing it. When I came back, the fan looked like it had always been there. They left everything nice and clean. The staff here is always helpful and polite.

"Disappointed and Concerned with Unsafe Assisted Living Facility"

The people working here aren't great. No one ever calls back. The stairs are filthy and dangerous. Guess what? My relative lives there.

"Staff Truly Goes Above and Beyond"

I was having trouble with my long-term insurance, and both the Executive Director and the financial manager went above and beyond to help me. They really worked hard for me, and I can't thank them enough. Since I moved in at the start of the year, everyone here has been super nice. I would recommend The Barrington to anyone!

"High Costs, Low Value"

The place costs too much.

"Cozy Place for Fun and Food"

My son and I went to check out this place with a nice person named [Name removed]. We had a cool tour and lunch. The food tasted really good and fresh, which is super important to me. The price for a one-bedroom apartment was kinda normal, but it comes with a balcony and a small kitchen, so that's nice. There seem to be lots of different things to do here, like activities and adventures. I'm thinking of moving here because it's got what I want in terms of location and price.

"Tour of the Facility for Parents"

My wife and I visited this facility with my in-laws. We were very happy with the overall appearance, amenities, price, activities, and staff. The rooms are very spacious and homey. The friendliness of the occupants shows the success of this place. The energy and vibe are positive. We were also invited for lunch, which solidified our stance on this location.

"Very helpful staff!"

My brother is doing great here and he's happy with the place. The staff is very nice and they keep me updated with any changes. They also help him get to and from doctor appointments. He has his own car, so he can come and go as he pleases. I had lunch with him and the food was great. He likes that he can pick whatever he wants to eat. The rent includes 2 meals a day, with an option for a third meal at an extra charge. They have a gym, a pool, and activities to keep the residents busy. It's nice, clean, and well-maintained. I'm glad we found The Barrington; it's one of the best places we've seen and he really seems to be doing well.

"No Memory Care but Friendly Staff"

After a chat with someone there, I learned they didn't offer memory care. We needed a place for a couple where they could stay together, which meant we needed both memory care and assisted living. Since they couldn't do both, I didn't tour the place. But the person I talked to was pleasant and very helpful.

"Our top choice if closer to care facilities"

The Barrington would have been our top pick, but it was too far from the skilled nursing care my mother needs. My dad’s mom was one of the first residents when The Barrington opened, so he knew it well.

"Positive Tour Experience"

We really liked this community during our tour. The inside looked good, smelled clean, and was well-maintained. The residents seemed happy and comfortable, and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The only issue was the waitlist for 2-bedroom units.

""Mediocre Experience, Other Facility Preferred""

My family and I took a tour of this place, and it was halfway decent! People were nice and treated us well, but to be completely honest, I think another place we visited fits us better.

"'Nice Place, Dreadful Staff: Find Another Home'"

This place might look NICE, but I would seriously advise against anyone staying here... their staff is just clueless. I've been around elder care homes for a long time, and I've never seen such a cold bunch, especially in the maintenance and cleaning department.

"Unhappy With Continuous Leadership Changes and Lacking Empathy"

When my parents first moved in, it was really great. But over the past two years, we've gone through 4 managers, 4 main nurses, and at least 5 cooks. Costs have increased while the service and the food have declined. Sadly, my mom passed away and they didn't even offer a simple condolence like 'I'm sorry for your loss'. I'm honestly very upset about it.

"A caring and clean community for loved ones."

The staff here are super helpful and really pay attention. When my mom moved from independent living to assisted living, they handled everything for her. The food is tasty, and there are lots of choices. The place is always kept clean. You can really see how great this community is when you take a tour. I would definitely recommend this community!

"Great place with nice rooms and friendly staff!"

The Barrington was a great place. We almost chose it over another community. The place was nice, and the staff was friendly. All the rooms faced the courtyard and had their own balcony.

"Satisfied with Mom's place!"

My family and I liked this place. The people who work there were nice and told us things we wanted to know. Mom thought the food was good. They kept everything clean and nice. We knew about the fun things to do from a paper they gave us every month. But we had to move Mom because she needed more help with her memory problem than they could give. Still, I would tell others to think about going to this place.

The top bosses are totally messing up this facility.

"Adjusting to the New Community, But So Far So Good"

I'm still getting used to living in this place. Things are going pretty well up to this point. This is a nice community with really nice people around. They've all been treating me very well. I'm enjoying the food here, they serve us really good meals. There are lots of great activities that keep us busy. They've got a pool here, which I love because I enjoy swimming a lot. I'm still adjusting to everything, but all in all, it's a pretty good community that I'd recommend to others.

"Mom Loves It Here!"

Our mom moved in at the end of August 2016. She adjusted really well! She enjoys the activities, outings, and especially the dining room. The Barrington staff have been very helpful. Our family made the right choice for mom.

"Overworked Staff and Repeat Meals at Assisted Living Facilities"

The people working here sure are nice and do their best, but I can tell they're really tired from too much work. Their boss, I've never seen him lending a hand when they're swamped. And the food? It's the same stuff all the time, sometimes even serving leftover soup. I even caught their boss shouting at an employee a few days ago. Also, the dining room could really use more servers. They can only do so much and their boss just never seems to be there when they need him.

"A Bright New Beginning at The Barrington"

My family and I were super happy when we got to The Barrington. There was a lot of sunshine coming in, which made it feel really nice. The big open area in the middle, called the atrium, looked so pretty and made us feel welcome right away. They asked us to stick around for lunch, and boy, was that a good idea! The food was yummy, and the chef seemed really proud of it. He even came over to our table to say hi. It didn't feel like just some old place to live. It felt like the start of something great. We picked The Barrington for my mom, and we're really happy we did. The whole process of picking a place was easy, and Sherrie was super nice and helpful. We're thankful we found Sherrie and The Barrington. Here's to lots of awesome years ahead! Thanks, and good luck to everyone!

"Food Disappoints, Leafy Grounds a Safety Hazard!"

My dad lives at this senior home by himself. He's always saying that he isn't satisfied with the food there, and the options for meals are too limited. Sure, they have sandwiches...but when it comes to real meals, it's a big NO! He also has a pet dog that he takes outside for a walk around the property. But there are so many leaves scattered around, especially with the recent rainfall, that he's scared he might slip and fall.

"Comfortable Assisted Living: A Welcoming Environment for Residents"

My mom got a warm welcome from everyone here, even before she moved in. The food is always good, with a special every meal and lots of other options if you don't like it. Mom's been there over a month now and seems to really enjoy it.

"Easy Transportation to Doctor and Church; Enjoyable Activities"

The rides they provide are super easy to use. They take us to the doctor or church without any fuss. I really like joining in on all the activities too.

"Everything is going great and I’m very happy!"

Things are going really well here. They’re putting up the Christmas tree right now, and we have a ceremony coming up soon. It’s very nice! Thanks to A Place for Mom for helping me find this place. I’m really happy with the service!

"New management leads to downgrade in facility's quality of service"

For 21 months, my beloved family member lived here and she was quite pleased initially. However, after a new management company took over in the autumn of 2013, things began to take a wrong turn. The meals were always a point of concern and they consistently underwhelm. In terms of activities, they were limited to occasional Happy Hours with entertainment and a rare bus outing. There was a serious lack of activities to invigorate the mind, body, soul, and spirit. An Activity Director with the right qualifications could really make a positive change in this regard. In 2013-14, the pool was closed most of the time because they couldn't afford the cost of the propane to heat it. They also changed the transportation arrangement so that you have to pay extra if your doctor's appointments are not along their daily route. One point of frustration is that the executive director, in representing the management company, seems to only pretend to care about the multitude of complaints that come up every week. The solution to this problem could be a Resident Council that could genuinely look out for the best interests of all residents.

"The Barrington is awesome!"

The Barrington is a huge improvement from where my dad was living. It’s clean, friendly, and has beautiful grounds and delicious food. Most importantly, the staff genuinely cares. There are plenty of activities and fun places they take the residents. They also offer transportation to church and doctor appointments. With a pool, hot tub, and shuffleboard, this community has it all. I’m so happy we found a place where my dad is cared for, safe, and most importantly, happy!

The follow-up from your foundation was wonderful. I felt that everyone was honest and clear. I wish I could remember the woman's name who stayed in touch with me. In the end, my mom is happy, and we got her placed in just one month. Thank you!

"Visited Special $2000 Studios at Assisted Living Facility"

I visited two out of three special $2000 studios with a $199 community fee. You need to sign by. Pastor Durwood mentioned that the care is really good, but there's no memory care unit.

"So glad we chose The Barrington!"

The food is great! I live here with my husband. He’s in assisted living, but I’m independent. We can stay together in the same place. The staff is amazing, and we’re really happy! They have lots of Christmas activities and trips. For independent living, I get two meals a day included and pay for a third. When we saw The Barrington, we loved it and are so glad we’re here!

"Extremely helpful and supportive!"

She stayed for 3 weeks, then went to the hospital. Now she’s in a nursing home, but she still has her apartment there, and we're working to get her back. They were very helpful. I can’t say enough good things about them!

"Mom's Favorite Spot"

We visited six different assisted living places. Except for one, they were all nice and affordable, and I would have felt okay with my mom living there. The Barrington was our second stop, and after touring it, my mom said, I like that place the best.Even while we looked at other places, she kept saying, I like that other place the best, meaning The Barrington. She felt most comfortable there. That became our standard as we checked out other communities, but none were better than The Barrington, which really impressed my mom.

"Feels Like Home and Family"

I've lived at The Barrington for several years now as a widow, and I couldn’t be happier. I never feel lonely; it’s safe, and I have friends and a caring staff all around me. From the first time I walked in, I felt a warm welcome. The whole staff is so kind and helpful. I enjoy all the activities and social events, and the food is amazing—our chef does a great job. There’s really something here for everyone to enjoy. I’ve made wonderful friends with both residents and staff. The Barrington is truly a great place to live. I love our outings to the beaches and parks too. I’m on the welcoming committee, help serve at happy hour, and even join the marketing team for outreach. This place is my home, and the staff is like family.
