"Excellent Care and Beautiful Living for Seniors"
My mom has been living in independent living here for 4 years, and I give it a 5-star rating. As a retired social worker, I’ve visited many facilities, and this one is among the best. I live close by, so I can visit my mom often. The place is beautiful, and she has a spacious apartment. The activities are fun, and I often join her. My husband and I love to swim in the pool and enjoy meals in the dining room—the food is really good! The nurses are very nice, they go above and beyond for my mom. I truly feel my mom is well cared for and highly recommend this place. Plus, the price for what you get is great.

"HC Assisted Living Staff and Care Severely Lacking"
I totally side with the bad appraisal about The HC Assisted Living. We were lucky to move our loved one out, though it took us a while to look past their fake friendliness. There were a couple of caring people working there, but most of the workers were terrible and couldn't take appropriate care of the residents. We had to get care from outside due to lousy staff. Thankfully, we shifted our loved one to a kinder assisted living place where he got the respect and good treatment that old folks ought to get. I feel awful every time I recall the loss of respect we let our loved one suffer at HC. The complaints about the Assisted Living director are totally true. She would lie to our faces without properly addressing our problems. The dishonesty and lack of proper care turned into a terrible nightmare.

"Horrors at Horizon Club: Zero Stars Deserved"
Assisted Living is a total disaster. The care is terrible, and most of the staff is just awful, not to mention the head of Assisted Living who can't be trusted. It took my family so long to figure out their tricks and fake smiles. We had to get outside help to make sure our relative was safe before we could move them out. I totally agree with another review that said bad things are happening. Older people should be treated with respect and honor, but you won't see this from most of the staff here. Don't be tricked by how nice the building looks, because the weak medical care and real lack of care are what matters. Horizon Club Assisted Living Five Star Premier Residence deserves no stars at all.

"Wonderful place for Dad!"
Where do I start? If you're thinking about independent living, look no further than the Horizon Club! My dad, who is 95, checked out four places, but when he met Lisa, the sales agent, everything changed. I wish we had found her last year! It has been a wonderful experience. They really care, and everyone there is great—too many names to thank! They deserve a perfect 10! There are more activities and everything you could want. So, for all the kids in Pennsylvania, this is where your mom and dad belong. If I live as long as him, I’ll be here too! If you need to talk, just ask Lisa for my number. I’ll gladly share my thoughts. I’ve never felt so comfortable knowing my dad is living a thousand miles away, making new friends, and I don't have to worry about him. It was a tough decision, but I wish I had helped my dad find Lisa at the Horizon Club long ago. What a wonderful experience!

"Neglected Senior Living Facility: Poor Management and Lack of Care"
My family member lived at this assisted living facility. On the surface, it seems okay, but there's a lot going on at this place that isn't right. They gave male staff members keys to her apartment without her knowledge or consent - they didn't even bother to introduce them to her. It was not surprising that she was scared when she spotted an unfamiliar man in her apartment, voicing concerns like "What if I was changing or using the restroom?" When I complained to the AL manager about this, they promised it wouldn't happen again, but it did. Despite having dementia and needing assistance to remember activities (a service for which she pays for), they often forgot to remind her. As a result, she often ended up alone in her apartment with nothing to do. They also neglected to inform me to bring her medication if we returned after 10 PM. When we did come back late and asked for her meds (which were stored locked in her apartment), they refused to provide it, even knowing she needed it for her health. The building's elevators are another issue, especially during summer. They're enclosed with no ventilation and can get unbearably hot. There is a fan, but it's blocked by a light. Whenever an elevator is out of order, which happened several times during my relative's short stay, they take an unnecessarily long time to repair it. Meanwhile, residents are forced to walk a long route to access another elevator, which is really inconvenient. Also, this place lacks basic common sense. During a hurricane, they brought the plants from her patio indoors without so much as spraying them for bugs first. This ended up infesting her apartment with pests. There are other instances of poor management and lack of care, but it's too much to list here.

"Appearance is Deceiving: Beware of This Troubling Assisted Living Facility!"
My family member lived in this assisted living facility. It seems nice on the surface, but there are many issues. They gave male staff members keys to her apartment without her knowledge - they didn't even have the decency to introduce her to them. Imagine her fear when she found an unfamiliar man in her apartment. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, they assured me it wouldn't happen again, but it did. My relative has dementia and was supposed to get reminders for activities, for which she was paying extra, but often they just didn't bother, leaving her alone and idle in her apartment. Initially, no one advised me to bring her medication for times we might return later than 10:00 PM. Then when we did return late, they refused to give her the locked up medicines she needed to stay healthy. The elevators in the building are like ovens, with no ventilation and unbearable heat in the summer. Despite a fan being present, it's covered by a light and doesn't help. If an elevator breaks, which occurred multiple times during our short stay, it takes ages to repair. This forces the residents to make a taxing trek around the building to get downstairs. There's a lack of common sense too. When a hurricane was imminent, they moved potted plants from the terrace to her apartment without bug-spraying them—causing an insect infestation in her apartment. There are countless other issues, too many to document here.
