"Great staff at DC, but poor management and overpriced."

DC was nice and tidy, and the Aides were exceptional. My loved one never went hungry. But I wasn't impressed with the Management. They sent my husband away, blaming their outdated alarm system for him leaving. It wasn't our fault. Also, the cost was sky-high. I had issues with management from the start. I wished he could've stayed at DC. The Aides caregivers were just fantastic. They were the best.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility"

My mom gets regular showers, medicine, clean laundry, and a tidy apartment. However, I don't like the extra cost for meal delivery. It's already pricey here. Also, she needs more attention to avoid sitting in soiled bedding for too long. Despite my repeated reminders, they keep serving her foods she won't eat, resulting in missed meals. Right from the start, no one encourages her to join activities or go to the dining room for meals, despite my requests for help.

"Nice Assisted Living Facility"

My family member lives at Discovery Commons South Biscayne, and everything has been pretty good. It's a nice place.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

Our loved one stayed there for years under different owners and directors. The dining room and housekeeping staff were caring, but turnover was high. Language barriers made communication difficult. The nursing team lacked compassion. Happy hour provided a break from dull activities, but the food was mediocre. Retention issues persisted among chefs and care staff. I visited often and have a firsthand opinion."

"Pricey Assisted Living Facility with Caring Staff, Room for Improvements"

Initially, they goofed big time by putting my mom in Memory Care instead of letting me take her to her apartment on the assisted living side. After a month, I finally got permission to move her to assisted living. Ever since then, it's been pretty good. Most parts are nice and clean, but sometimes they don't do a great job cleaning dishes in the dining room. Dining there is usually nice, but the food isn't always tasty. They offer lots of fun activities, but it's a bummer my mom's become sort of a hermit and doesn't join in. The place is really pricey. Paying the monthly bills is a struggle. Still, it's a nice place overall. The staff is nice and caring, and they take good care of my mom.

"Unpleasant Experience with Discovery Commons over Minor Injury"

We had a terrible time with Discovery Commons. The nurse who looked at my family members said they couldn't join because of a minor injury. After I took him to the ER, they called saying the injury wasn't a big issue. It was chaotic, all because of a small cut on his head. The only helpful person was the manager, but apart from that, whenever we called, no one else seemed to understand what was happening. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone.

"Neglect and Mismanagement at Assisted Living Facility"

Ever since the new management took over, my dad's care has suffered badly at this assisted living facility. He's developed sores on his foot and heel, along with a rash. They've taken him to the doctor and even the hospital without informing any of his close family members. They're not respecting the paperwork we've signed either. My dad, who has a medical condition called dementia, was somehow allowed to sign additional documents. From a recorded call with him, I learned that one of the staff members has been rough with him. I'm seriously concerned and definitely taking further steps.

"Wonderful!"

I have lived at The Springs at South Biscayne for over a year now. I moved to Florida to be closer to my son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The many activities keep me busy and have helped me make friends. The food is great and the staff is wonderful.

"Appealing Place, Poor Apartment Layout"

Everything was very appealing, upscale, clean, and well-managed. There were many nice amenities. The 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments we compared couldn't hold a king-size bed. The kitchens had no counter space because the microwave was on it. The wide hallway space could have been reduced and added to the apartment. The bathroom has a roll-in shower unit for a wheelchair, great for a single occupant. It is very expensive with a poor apartment layout. The staff was professional and eager to please.

"Happy and Comfortable with Mom's Move!"

Everything is going great for my mother since she moved to this community. I feel really comfortable with her being here. I know she is safe and well taken care of at this facility. This is a good, safe place, and I’m happy with everything they have done for us.

"Perfect Respite for Mom"

The rooms are big, and the staff is friendly and caring. There are lots of fun activities, and the food is better than average. This place was perfect for my mom's stay. I might have trouble getting her to come back home.

"On The Tour"

During our visit, we noticed that residents weren’t chatting over lunch. While it offered more than an independent facility, the pricing didn’t align with our budget.

"Caring staff and great support for my mom!"

My mom feels a little homesick, but the staff has been taking really good care of her since she moved here. At first, there were some problems with her medications and a few other things, but they fixed everything. A therapist visits her every week to help her regain her strength. My niece visits her a lot and is impressed with this community. They even take her to doctor and dentist appointments.

"Need More Space and More Food Varieties at This Facility."

The rooms here are really cramped. Plus, the food, it lacks variety. I'm a vegetarian, but all I get is dry fish and it's always Tilapia. I'm looking forward to shift soon.

"Caring Community"

This community is really nice. The staff is great, but sometimes they don't answer all my questions about my father's progress. It would be helpful to have a driver, and I hope they fix the bus so residents can be more active and go out sometimes. My dad loves the excellent meals they serve. I recommend this community to others.

"Mom Loved Her Respite Stay!"

My mom enjoyed her short stay, but they don't offer outings because they lack a van.

"The Springs made my mom feel safe and cared for."

My mom needed a place quickly where she'd be safe and get 24-hour care while recovering. At the same time, my stepdad went to the hospital for rehab. The Springs became like family to her without crossing boundaries. They made her feel needed and cared for. The food is great, and the place is perfect for my classy mom. She has the freedom she wants and help when needed. I'm a big supporter of The Springs, and A Place for Mom helped me find them. Thank you!

"Top-notch care, beautiful environment, and outstanding services"

As a retired primary care doctor, I’ve been in many assisted living and skilled nursing places. My experience with my Dad at the Springs showed me this is one of the best. The staff is caring and dedicated, the rooms and environment are beautiful, and the services are amazing.

"A Must See! Great Place, Great Staff"

I visited to check it out and watched the staff working and interacting from the outside, thanks to all the windows. I was really impressed by what I saw. The staff was super kind and always smiling. Inside was more beautiful than I thought, and it felt so warm and welcoming. I give this place 10 out of 10. I felt the staff was honest and didn’t make promises they couldn’t keep. They offer so much, and when you look at the pricing, it’s a great value. I’ve been paying someone to care for me at home for $24.00 an hour, which adds up fast. So, if you need 24-hour care, this place is worth it! Great place, great staff, and very beautiful, warm, and welcoming.

""

My husband and I visited today to find a place for my sister. They were having a health fair to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. We met the most wonderful lady, Melissa. It was her second day, but she answered all our questions and was so loving and caring that we felt right at home. This place is the most beautiful one we've seen, and we've looked at many! I was impressed from the moment we walked in. The staff were helpful, loving, and caring. They offer all-day dining! The activities were well-planned and had a lot of variety. We are taking my sister back in a few days, and we will be moving her in! I can’t recommend this place enough! Before you choose a place for your family member, go see what they offer! You’ll be glad you did!!!
