"Long Refund Process for Deposit Angers Assisted Living Facility Client"
I was promised that my mom's deposit would be sent back to us within 45-60 days. She had waited months for a room that never freed up, which was nobody's fault. However, I found this policy of holding onto her money for over two months strange. They shouldn't keep money that older people need for a very long time. I asked in September and got an answer in October, saying it'll be 45-60 days. I called on a certain date to ask about mom's deposit. We should have got that back by December at the latest, but I was told it had not been processed yet and might take another two weeks. Despite my firm request to have the check made out today, I heard nothing back. I told the Director of Assisted Living at Westminster Palms that I would tell the State and put it on social media if I didn't hear back soon. Only then did I get my first sorry from him, even after speaking with two other people. The director said the situation was now out of his control and up to another person, one of those I spoke to.

"Mixed Experience: Good Tour, Better Fit Found Elsewhere for Loved One"
The tour was really good. The community was nice, but another place suited my loved one better. The guide was helpful and gave me all the info I needed.

"Lacking Balconies: High-Rise Assisted Living Disappoints"
Our family went for a tour in person. The place seemed nice and all, but it was just a tall building, you know? And here's the thing: they didn't even have any balconies.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Atmosphere and Flexibility"
We didn't feel welcomed at this place. The person trying to sell it didn't seem interested in us. Also, we didn't see any residents outside enjoying the pretty location. We want to pay every month, so the big upfront payment didn't suit us.

"Not recommended for sick residents; money-focused staff; lacking care."
Westminster Palms seems nice if you're healthy. But if you join their program and then get sick, that's when the problems start. The boss and most of the office workers don't seem to care about people—they just care about money. They'll take everything you've got, whether you've got a lot or a little, and they won't give you good care in return. I wouldn't suggest this place for anyone who might end up in that situation.

"Amazing community in prime location"
My family and I toured this location with my mother, since she now lives out of town and needs to be closer to us. The campus is in a superb spot in downtown St. Petersburg, overlooking North Shore Park. This is prime real estate, with many fancy condos and big homes nearby, and it’s close to the heart of St. Petersburg's waterfront (Beach Drive). The cost is reasonable—not cheap, but fair. I've seen less attractive places in worse locations that cost more. Being a non-profit, they’re not a greedy, penny-pinching business. The apartments and facility are constantly upgraded and well maintained. They have tons of activities and amenities in and around the buildings. You can walk across the street to a softball game or take their little bus to lunch, the Mahaffey, museums, or the pier when it’s built! The staff is very friendly, and the residents seem happy and content. It feels more like a fancy hotel than a retirement community.

We are really happy with this place. My parents love it too. It was our top choice based on our connections in the area. Plus, we were thrilled to see how affordable it is.

"Super Friendly and Clean with Accommodating Staff"
I met three staff members. The front desk person, I think she was a lady, was nice. The marketing director was super accommodating and gave us a tour even though he had an appointment. We also saw the maintenance guy; he was nice too. We saw some women talking and another woman with dogs. The marketing director explained that the woman with dogs was a special case because one dog was old and wouldn't live much longer, so they accommodated her. All the Westminster staff seem very accommodating. It was very clean, nothing out of place. From what I saw, the staff were friendly. I didn't see any amenities, but from what I read, you get what you pay for. I didn't see the care or activities either.

"Five Stars for Westminster Palms"
Everyone at Westminster Palms is extremely helpful and friendly, especially Jerry Bushey. He was very sensitive to my mother's needs and went above and beyond to make her comfortable at Westminster Palms.

"High-Priced Facility Offers Low-Quality Care & Broken Promises"
On first glance, this place seems like a fancy living community. In reality, you're actually shelling out a lot of money for not much in return. The people who run this place simply don't have it together and don't seem to care much either. The rules change all the time without anyone telling you, and money and profit come first before the residents' health and needs. If you're thinking about moving in here, be ready for a flood of empty promises and having to pay more than what's worth for the fake lines they feed you in their ads and shady sales team who promise you everything just to get your money. They usually put you in care that doesn't match what you need and then shuffle you around later to fill their numbers in assisted living and skilled nursing. Be careful, be smart, and stay far away from this place.

"Seems Like a Nice Place"
It was nice. I liked the downtown waterfront. The staff were nice to talk to. We took a 30-minute tour, and it looked like a nice place, but she preferred the other place because she was more familiar with it.

"Better than we expected!"
Things are going great; this place deserves a 5-star rating. We chose it for two reasons: first, it's close to our house, and second, the overall cleanliness and professionalism of the staff impressed us during our visit. Since moving in, my mother-in-law has been very happy there. She often talks about how good the food is, the nice little programs, and how friendly and helpful the staff are. She enjoys meals with the other ladies and spends time with them socializing, making friends along the way. It’s been better than I expected. I believe it's a high-quality facility, and we're getting our money's worth. Overall, she's very happy, which is all we ever wanted.
