"Don't Choose Legacy Ridge, Terrible Experience"
My family member used to stay at Legacy Ridge at Alpharetta, and it was awful. I gave it one star because they didn't have a zero. I wouldn't tell anybody to go here. It's been going downhill for a long time.

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Good Care, Meal Improvements Needed"
The care services are good, but call button responses need improvement. Meals are a concern; they serve fried, spicy, and unhealthy foods like chicken wings, french fries, and hot dogs, which aren't ideal for older adults. There's been an ongoing issue for two years. Improvements are needed in meal quality and timeliness; residents sometimes wait 30-40 minutes after meal times. Better food choices would greatly enhance value for cost.

Disappointed
"Negligent Staff at Legacy Ridge's Memory Care Unit"
We moved our loved one out of Legacy Ridge's memory center after just 3 weeks. Shockingly, they seemed to think it was okay to let him sleep on the floor. I even discovered him in bed at 2:00 p.m., soaked in his own urine from the previous night and without having eaten or taken his medication on time. It was a terrible error to place our trust in a memory care team that evidently has no proper knowledge or training in dealing with those diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimer's. The staff at the memory center were seriously unprofessional and ill-suited for their roles, or any jobs requiring empathy and understanding. I'm really worried for the others left to their mercy!

"Mixed Experience at Legacy Ridge"
I liked Legacy Ridge at Alpharetta overall. The sales director was friendly, but the caretakers didn’t greet me. During the tour, they invited me to a reception with delicious food. However, their prices were high, pushing our budget.

"Unplanned Tour and Absent Guide at Legacy Ridge Alpharetta"
We had planned a tour at Legacy Ridge Alpharetta and the person who was supposed to guide us failed to show even though we had planned it ahead of time. They asked us to return but since I live far away, I said it couldn't be done. A kitchen staff member ended up showing us around, but they couldn't provide any helpful info or answer our questions. Overall, it was messy and disappointing.

"Good care but food variety could improve for better experience"
This place has been great for my loved one. The staff is good, but make sure to keep an eye on their meals and make sure the staff is taking care of them. Overall, I would recommend this place, but still be an advocate for your loved one. One thing to note is that I haven't seen any fresh fruit at meals. Many of the meals are based on rice and have tough meats, and breakfast seems to be the same each day. This is an area that could use some improvement.

"Not Recommended for Assisted Living: Inadequate Staffing and Administration"
Legacy Ridge has some okay workers, but not many. If you can do things on your own and speak up, it's alright. But if you really need help with showering, dressing, or eating, this isn't the right place. Plus, the people in charge don't take responsibility for any problems you bring up. The staff isn't watched over. The people in charge always have excuses and never admit they're wrong. I wouldn't suggest this place if you need real help.

"Head Boss Regularly Lies; Employee Turnover Sky High"
It's totally clear that this place doesn't have enough properly trained employees and leaders. The person in charge tends to twist the truth and can't manage to keep workers here for long. Keep looking...

"Consistency and Care Declined Since Management Change at Alto Facility"
My relative lived at Alto since it was called Bickford, then Charter Senior Living. We were happy with care until Allegro Management took over in 2018. Since then, many staff members left, and new ones don’t stay. Consistent care is vital for seniors, especially those with memory problems. It’s important for them to be looked after by people who know them well. I hope Allegro fixes things soon.

"Steer Clear of Alto Until Management Fixes Issues"
My relative's been at Alto since it was Bickford then Charter Senior Living, and the quality of care was outstanding. But when Allegro Management took charge in 2018, things went downhill. Now, we're seeing good nurses and CNAs, who've been truly committed, leave. Plus, new employees either quit fast or don't come to work at all. Consistency is super important for seniors, more so for those with memory problems. Knowing the person taking care of them, what they need every day, and what they like or dislike makes a big difference in their life quality. I really wish Allegro Management might fix all these issues and let Alto regain its past glory before things get any worse.

"Alto Senior Living: Disorganized and Unhappy Residents"
This is my first review of Alto Senior Living in Alpharetta. It's funny to hear about the Wellness nurse, getting paid to stay at Starbucks, although they didn't mention which one. I'd make appointments to see her there! I agree need to leave. The place is a mess. I don't know what happened to might be involved. He was the best; my mom still cries over him, as do his fellow employees. The administrator never shows up for resident council meetings, so my mom stopped attending. Right now, I'm looking for another place for her. This place is a mess. It seems like corporate doesn't care. They quickly respond to reviews but won't come into the building to hear residents' voices. The managers are leaving like crazy. It doesn't look good at all.

Don't Be Fooled
"Avoid This Place: Poorly Run and Lacking Care"
If you're on the hunt for a quality assisted living facility that genuinely cares for its residents, your search isn't over. Alto isn't equipped with adequate staff to offer the care that residents deserve. There's not much to do in terms of activities, transportation is a non-existent service, and most shockingly, they've started serving meals on disposable paper plates. It's certainly not what you'd expect your money to pay for. If by some misfortune you happen to fall in your room and the door is locked, instead of caring staff coming to your aid, the FIRE DEPARTMENT will have to be called to break down the door because the staff don't even have spare keys. As if that's not enough, the front door lock is faulty and doesn't always open, meaning in a fire emergency, exiting the building might not be possible. While they're quick to charge a hefty fee for their services, their aim seems to be more towards lining their pockets than providing a safe, homely space. Good luck with your search, but our advice is to look somewhere else.

"Disappointing Service Decline at Assisted Living Facility"
Initially, we thought this place was great. But now, with another new owner, things have gotten worse. The local management doesn’t seem to care and doesn’t respond when we need help. There aren’t enough nurses and aides to take care of the residents properly. There aren’t many activities for seniors anymore because one person can’t handle it all. We’re sorry we trusted A Place For Mom to recommend this place. Considering how much they charge, I suggest looking at other places instead.

"Warm and welcoming place, unfortunately couldn't accommodate mom's needs."
I visited Charter Senior Living and it was really nice. The people there were all friendly and nice to us. But, they couldn't take care of my mom because she needs more help.

"Wonderful facility, friendly staff, beautiful rooms!"
From what I saw, this was a wonderful facility! The staff were very welcoming, and the rooms were absolutely beautiful. The food was also great, and the chef was super friendly when he came to talk with us. In the end, the only reason we didn’t choose this place was its location, but it was still fantastic!

"Happy with care and staff"
My dad has been at this community for a short time, and so far we're happy with the care he's getting. The staff have all been friendly and very welcoming in his new home. They have lots of great amenities and a wonderful dining experience. I have no complaints and would recommend this place to anyone interested.

"Only Fair Assisted Living Experience"
My visit to this place was just so-so. The place itself was pretty clean and the workers were friendly. However, there are certain things they need to fix before I can think about having Mom live here. I did end up finding a place that was a better fit for our needs.

"First Class"
This place is great! The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is lovely. The Executive Director and Director of Nursing/Care Services are excellent—they're really involved with residents and their needs. Communication with families is good, and it feels like an extended family. The nursing staff is also excellent and visible, and the CNA's are friendly and hard-working. Plus, there are nurses on duty 24/7, which provides a sense of security. The food is very good with lots of variety, and the executive chef is trained in several New Orleans restaurants. It's an excellent choice for your loved ones.

"Prices went up, quality went down at this facility."
My father resided here for a good while, but his final year was terrible due to constant refurbishments and changes in personnel. The new people in charge may be friendly, but that doesn't make up for running a place properly. They lacked organization and kept hiking up the cost without improving the care offered. Sadly, what was once a great place has turned into one that doesn't pay enough attention to our dear ones.

"Bickford of Alpharetta: Perfect Place for Mom and Her Dog!"
Everyone at Bickford of Alpharetta has been amazing with my mom and her little dog, who is very important for her happiness. We moved her from Benton House of Alpharetta after less than six weeks because they were not nice about her dog. Here, they offer many extra services at no extra cost, like taking Rocky out 2 or 3 times a day, which I didn't find anywhere else. Their newly renovated place is beautiful and welcoming, and the nurses and staff are patient, caring, and kind. Everyone is great—from the director to assistant director, to one of the wonderful nurses and the great cooks. We couldn't be happier and are so thankful we found this place through Dawn from A Place for Mom.

"Definitely Wouldn't Recommend, Even If They Didn't Charge"
We were incredibly upset. We were constantly upset with how her daily life was reduced to sitting in front of a TV or shuffling in and out of the dining room, with no variety of her activities. The creativity seemed lacking and offered on rare occasions. There were serious issues that happened in her room, but no one discovered them for six hours or more. The meals did not meet our expectations. The dining room constantly used the same, nom-washable placemats every mealtime. There were incidents where she was hurt that were kept from us. Strangely, they were dispensing the wrong amounts of medication. Most shockingly, we never saw the director visit the third-floor Alzheimer's unit. In the midst of all this, they were even renovating the first-floor Alzheimer's unit! They did have a small handful of caring staff, perhaps two or three, who worked the night shift. However, no matter what, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, not even if it was free!

"It’s clean, staff is great!"
They’re not super expensive, but not the cheapest either. Weekdays were great—attentive and good care. Food was okay. I had to stay on top of things to make sure she got everything she needed. Coordinating with hospice was a bit tricky. The staff seemed optimistic about hospice, but I had to set it up myself. Aides weren’t always well-informed, and there were different people working with her.

"Walked Around the Place, Not Bad But Could Be Better"
Went around the place. It was okay, not too bad. I was happier that the residents were younger than with the place itself. The Memory Care section had a bad smell.

"Great Assisted Living with Geriatric Care and Weekly Outings"
This assisted living facility is three stories tall with assisted living on the 2nd and 3rd floors, housing about 50 residents but licensed for 84, including couples. They offer a personal trainer specializing in geriatric exercise and a physical therapist once a week. Residents enjoy three meals a day, two snacks, and a happy hour at 4:00 pm daily except on Sundays. There’s an outing to dinner once a week, billed monthly, and Wednesdays are for Walmart trips. The apartments are studios or one-bedrooms with fridges and microwaves. The facility is staffed 24/7 with nurses working in two shifts. There’s weekly housekeeping and transportation to doctors on Tuesdays within a 12-mile radius at no cost. Two doctors visit the facility regularly, with a geriatric psychiatrist visiting once a month, and a podiatrist and dentist also coming onsite. Other amenities include an onsite beauty salon, laundry and linen cleaning, and housekeeping services. Studios cost $90 per day, and one-bedrooms are $112 per day. Medication management and bathing assistance are available for an additional cost. The environment is very clean and quiet, with some studio apartments having hardwood floors. There’s no $2500 move-in fee, and new residents get two months of free rent (the 2nd and 13th months).
