"Antebellum on Arlington: A Blessing for Mom"

Antebellum on Arlington is a great place for my Mom. People from different backgrounds come here, which is wonderful. My 81-year-old African American Mom used to be nervous about people from other races, but now she knows that everyone has good and bad sides. She’s active in daily activities and even shares a special Teddy bear with her friend from a different race. Antebellum is a true blessing, thanks to the hardworking and kind staff.

"Mixed Experience: Friendly Staff, Could Improve Follow-Up"

The people who work here are really nice. They promise a lot, but sometimes they don't keep those promises. They check back with us about 60-70% of the time. When we have questions or worries, they're okay at getting back to us, but not super fast. Everything we need is included in the monthly fee: the place to live, cleaning, fresh sheets, utilities, laundry, and meals. But if my loved one needs extra help, we have to pay more for it.

"Caring Staff, Varied Activities"

The staff is super friendly and keeps you updated about your parent. If your family member is in assisted living, they really go the extra mile to help. They have lots of activities in assisted living, but not as much in memory care. The challenge is that memory care residents are all at different stages and abilities. I just wish Antebellum included the less able memory care residents in more events, including music.

"Clean and Spacious Assisted Living Facility"

The place is tidy, and the staff remember residents' names. It's quite spacious.

"Friendly Staff and Happy Residents at This Facility"

I was really impressed with this place. The staff was super friendly and helpful. My contact talked to the residents we met during the tour and called each one by name. The residents I saw seemed happy and well taken care of.

The staff here is really helpful and treats residents with great respect. I’d recommend this place to any of my family members.

"Lovely place, but not quite right for younger residents"

This place was really nice and pretty. My husband's room was good, and the people who work here were nice and took good care of him. But my husband felt out of place because he was younger than most people there. The activities they had didn't really suit him. So, we're bringing him home for now. Still, you might want to check it out for your loved one.

"Warm and welcoming with friendly staff and activities!"

I’m a physical therapist and visit the facility often. Each time I come in, there’s a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There are always activities happening and smiling faces around. The staff is friendly and always ready to help.

"Mom Is Thriving in This Wonderful Community"

My mother has had a fantastic experience since moving here. Everything has gone smoothly, and I’m really happy. This community is truly the best. It’s been a really positive experience for us all!

"Lies and Deception at Assisted Living Facility"

The director visited my home for a check-up. We asked many things while she was here. They praised the meals saying they ate them all the time, which they didn't because the food was awful. I specifically requested fresh fruit but they said they only provide it with breakfast. Nobody served any fruit. A caregiver, whom they strongly endorsed, acted unprofessionally and created fear and worry. She made everyone think that she was the sole caregiver, which caused resentment among staff. They easily lied to me regarding my care needs.

"Clean and friendly senior living tour, not perfect fit"

I went on a tour of Antebellum Senior Living and it was pretty nice. The place was clean and looked good. The person who showed us around was really nice and knew a lot about the place. It seemed like a good place, but it wasn't exactly what my loved one needed right now.

"A wonderful home for my mother-in-law!"

My mother-in-law really loves this place! The staff is fantastic, and so are the other residents. It's very clean and friendly here. This is definitely the perfect spot for her. There are lots of fun activities every day for her to enjoy. The food is amazing, too. Overall, it's a great place. Thank you, Antebellum!

"Friendly staff and great support for my mom"

The staff was friendly and professional. My mom seems to be adjusting well with their help. She has mentioned several times how nice and helpful everyone is to her. I felt like I made the right decision after just a short time meeting them, and their value was better than anywhere else I looked for the support my mom receives there.

"Needs improvement: Not a heartwarming assisted living community"

We visited this facility and found the staff responsive to our questions. However, the only person we got to talk to was the activities coordinator. She was really nice but didn't have all the answers we needed. The entire place felt more like a nursing home than an assisted living facility. They do have some activities lined up for residents. But overall, I wouldn't encourage other families to consider this place. It needs a lively, bright atmosphere for residents to feel truly at home. I suggest families check it out themselves before deciding on care for their loved ones.

"Selected Them as Providers"

They have the memory care we were looking for. My mom will need a smaller wheelchair for the community's small hallways. I liked them and was satisfied they could take her in. They are impressive and professional.

"Top-Notch Care for My Mother"

My mother has been living there for just over a month, and I'm extremely pleased. The staff are amazing to work with. They truly care about each resident and the care they receive. The staff are friendly and always willing to help with any requests. The place is clean, and the smell is kept to a minimum. Considering these are elderly people and accidents happen, I am very satisfied with Antebellum on Arlington. I would recommend it to anyone deciding to place their loved one in a place that will take very good care of them.

"Terrific People and Facility"

My mom stayed at Antebellum Senior Living while recovering from a broken arm and dislocated shoulder. The staff was friendly and attentive, making a tough situation manageable. We felt comfortable knowing she was well taken care of. There were plenty of activities, and her only food complaint was that she got too much. The facility was always clean, and the residents seemed content. I won't hesitate to bring her back when needed.

"Great place with friendly staff and clean environment"

Our time at Antebellum Senior Living has been really great. The staff is nice and professional, always keeping in touch with us. They let me know right away if there’s an issue and respond quickly to any questions or ideas I have. The place is clean and well-maintained, and they take good care of the residents.

"Excellent Choice for Assisted Living Needs"

I visited this community to explore care options for a family member. The building was spotless and well-maintained, and the staff were super friendly and professional. However, my loved one required more care than they could provide. Still, it's definitely worth checking out if you're considering assisted living!

"Blair House is a caring place for residents' needs"

The staff genuinely cares about the residents here. The memory care unit is tidy, and the residents look well-groomed. Management is both professional and compassionate. They acted quickly when it was needed.

"Overall great place"

I'm happy with this facility. The staff is wonderful and caring, and they take good care of the patients. They make sure everyone is doing okay and give them attention. It is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. It's a loving atmosphere, and it feels like home.

"A top choice we're considering"

This is one of the places we are thinking about. It was nice, and depending on how things go with the family and my loved one, it might be in our top 3. We're still deciding what we need and what the right environment is.

"Wonderful Place!"

They do a wonderful job at Blair House! I love them! I visit my loved one all the time, and call almost every day. The staff have been kind, friendly, and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone looking for care in the area!

"Clean and friendly place, just wish for private restrooms."

We've had a good experience with Blair House. No big issues. The place is clean and tidy, and the staff are nice and seem to care. If I could change one thing, I'd like each room to have its own bathroom instead of sharing.

"Satisfactory Care for Uncle at Blair House Senior Living"

My uncle gets lots of attention and seems happy. It's good. They should add a lock on his door. Overall, it's a good place I'd suggest.

"Quality of care disappoints at Blair House"

We were in talks of moving over to this place after they assured us they'd manage to handle someone with a specific medical condition that involves a suprapubic catheter. They claimed they could take care of the catheter bag, including changing it. However, it quickly became clear that the staff wasn't prepared for such a task. I was there daily and sometimes, nobody would even check up on my dad for hours. It seemed like they assumed I'd handle his care. Despite daily activities, Dad didn't join in. His condition began to worsen soon after moving into Blair House. He used a walker and was capable of walking short distances on his own when he first came in. Within four days, he was having difficulty with simple tasks like getting into a car, which he'd managed fine before. He went from daily outings for meals to needing help from two people just to stand and struggling to move 10 steps. We've now relocated him from Blair House to another facility and he's improving.

"They Have So Many Activities"

They have more activities than you can imagine, and every time I go in there's something new happening. They have bands, dancing, and other events. Sometimes I don't even know what to expect. It's been wonderful, a really good experience. I would highly recommend it. Everyone is very nice, and it's a clean community. Every door is coded and secured, and you need the codes to enter. I really liked the security, cleanliness, and staff. The communication is excellent—they'll call me if he even sneezes the wrong way. They have a restaurant-style dining room, and the food is excellent with a variety of choices. They offer soup, appetizers, entrees, and desserts, and if he wants more, they give him more. They also have areas with coffee and cookies throughout the day, and soda machines.

"Nice place"

We’re happy with the care here. My loved one feels comfortable settling in. The facility looks nice, and they maintain it well. The staff are friendly and responsive. However, the food needs improvement; my loved one often complains, and visiting relatives aren’t impressed.

"Poor Alzheimer's Care at Assisted Living Center"

I was told this facility would be good for my mom who has Alzheimer's. At first, they seemed alright, but after a couple weeks, I noticed my mom wasn't acting herself. She seemed sick, so I asked the nurses to get a doctor to check on her. I got a call saying my mom was making a scene, and they had to call the cops. When I got there, an ambulance and the police were on the scene. Mom was scared. I had her taken to a hospital. There they discovered she was so dehydrated, they couldn't even draw blood. She also had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), a common and painful condition for Alzheimer's patients. She spent 2 weeks in intensive care. They told me she'd need a mental evaluation before returning. The hospital doctor was even mad about how poor her health was. I didn't send her back. She's in a much better place now. I wouldn't trust this place with anyone who has Alzheimer's. Their staff doesn't know the signs when their patients aren't doing well or how to care for them properly. It's tough enough deciding to put someone you love in a home. They talk a big game, but when it comes to understanding Alzheimer's, they're clueless.

"Exceptional Service and Support!"

The service was really helpful, and my advisor was friendly, polite, and very knowledgeable. She keeps checking in with me to see how things are going. I really appreciate all the help I’ve received. I will definitely recommend this service to others.

"Feeling Great About the Care Here!"

They do a great job here. I don’t get to visit often since I live far away, but I feel like she is safe here and sounds happy. The nurses and staff are really good, and they make sure she stays active. They also keep the place clean. From what I’ve heard, she is really enjoying the food too!

"Substandard Cleanliness at Assisted Living Facility"

The cleanliness at this assisted living facility is seriously lacking. My Dad's bed sheets, which I replaced two weeks ago, have not been tended to since, despite two spare sets being readily available in his room. I was under the impression that they cleaned the rooms weekly. There's also two large boxes full of stuff that have been left untouched, blocking access to his closet. It's as if the floor hasn't seen a broom or mop in ages. Considering the hefty amount he pays for their services, it's disappointing that they don't manage these basic tasks, especially since he's incapable of doing so himself.

"Blair House Lacks Activity and Hygiene Standards"

From my observations, Blair House only staffs a single nurse at night for three wards. The concept of "Structured" Assisted Living as it was described to me was a continuous activity for the residents. Post breakfast and lunch, residents are expected to be involved in several activities, but this isn't the case at Blair House. Instead, everyone heads to their rooms, often for extended naps, until they congregate by the cafeteria at around 4:30 pm. The facility lacks any significant activity, offering only bingo and movies as far as I've seen. Activities that promote creativity, like craft-making, are notably absent. The care provided doesn't correspond to the $2,600 billed. Although they meet the state's minimum requirement for licensed and trained personnel, their execution is lacking. For instance, if a resident denies medication, even one that is necessary, the staff simply accepts it. They have inconsistent record-keeping in terms of medication administration; they claim to have administered drugs but the logs may tell a different story. Entering Blair House, one is greeted by the unpleasant scent of urine. This could be due to being an old facility and their carpets trapping in the odor.

"Very Helpful Family and Clean Facility"

Very helpful family there. They are ready to answer questions and make everyone feel welcome. We moved in yesterday and have already received several reports on our family member's adjustment and comfort level every time we called. We are pleased with the comfortable family setting and the overall cleanliness of the facility.

Blair House is pleasant, but it didn’t meet my father-in-law’s Alzheimer’s care needs.

No longer an option because my mom now needs a hospital bed with rails. But it's a wonderful place for anyone needing assisted living.

It didn't look like a usual hospital inside. The workers were really pleasant and kind.
