"Improvements Needed for Assisted Living Facility's Patient Care Standards"
This place had friendly staff, but they need to be more truthful and keep their promises. For instance, the air conditioning in a patient's room didn't work, and even though they promised to fix it, it never happened. They also failed to provide a promised alert necklace for emergencies. Additionally, they neglected a sick patient for six hours without checking on them. They need to improve their patient care and honesty before we can recommend this place.

"Highly Recommended Assisted Living"
We really like how small Avery Village is. The staff is great, and they're always ready to assist. Based on our experience, we'd recommend Avery Village to other families.

"Friend's Health and Spirit Drained by Unreliable Assisted Living Home"
My friend made the unfortunate choice to move into this assisted living facility after being assured she'd be well cared for. It was a terrible error. She resided here for a year and a bit before I was able to move her out. During her stay, she was constantly upset, often crying when I left. The facility seemed to drain her spirits. In fact, she was stuck in bed most of the time while she was a resident. Every time I visited, there were new caretakers - no staff consistency. I wouldn't trust them with my pet! Thankfully, there's a bright side. In , my friend moved out and she's sparkly and happy again. Now, she is actually well taken care of. You can see the change in her for the better! Without hesitation, I'd say I can't recommend this facility to anyone, especially if they're someone you cherish.

"Inadequate Staff and Food At Avery Place Assisted Living"
I would definitely advise against Avery place for any family. They need to get more trained staff to take care of the main room for the residents. The folks who can't move really need assistance to change position in their beds. It's hard to find helpers to leave the main room and attend to the bedridden residents. Plus, I noticed the food they serve is far from enough.

"Assisted Living Tour Reveals Informative Staff, Minimal Resident Interaction"
During our visit, staff were helpful and answered our questions. However, we noticed less interaction with residents in memory care, so it wasn't ideal for us.

"Avery Place: Close, Organized, with Room for Improvement in Cleaning"
We chose Avery Place because it's close. The facility impressed us during our tour, and they seem very organized. It's small and they manage it well. The food looks good, but my mom eats little. They promise house cleaning, but we had to remind them about toilets and vacuuming the floors. They've mostly kept their promises but could improve on cleaning.

"Mixed Experience at Avery Place"
Is the new Executive Director competent? I requested information and had to visit Avery Place in person, only to wait while she called someone else for the answer. Did she even try earlier when I asked, or only when I showed up? They need to improve. On the bright side, the staff is consistently helpful.

"Mom loves activities and the close-knit community."
Mom loves the activities and the small community is great for her. She's more involved and happy here compared to her last place. I like that it's closer to my home, and I enjoy joining in the activities too.

"Great tour; considering moving mom here!"
I had a wonderful tour! The memory care director really cares about her residents. I liked the facility a lot. She was super helpful and friendly. I met some lovely ladies who live there. I am definitely thinking about moving my mom here. The only concern is whether the available spot will be a good fit until she can change rooms.

"A Great Community at Avery Place"
My husband lived at Avery Place for 2 1/2 years, from 2013 to 2015. It was a good place for him and close enough for me to visit every day. During the first year, he was able to join in most activities, but not as much in the last year. Avery Place isn't perfect, but I love how small it is and the sense of community there. I still go every week as a volunteer because I love the people.

"Avery Place is my top choice for family care"
I’m a physical therapist and work with many assisted living facilities (ALFs) in the area. I’ve gotten to know each one pretty well, and I used to think any of them would be fine if a family member needed care. However, when my father needed an ALF, I specifically chose Avery Place.

My mom has been at Avery Place for about a year and a half. She is about to move to the memory care wing because her Alzheimer's has gotten worse. This is the most affordable memory care in the area. I’ve been told she can live out her life there, and hospice can come in when needed. Avery Place is in a charming little town, where I can walk my mom to the post office across the street with no traffic. There’s a big yard with pecans to pick. The doors are locked, but if she wandered, staff would find her right away. You can visit anytime. I volunteer and drop in daily at different times, and I’ve never seen anyone mistreated. The staff quickly helps anyone who needs something. I’ve never heard of anyone having anything taken at the facility. They recently hired a dedicated chef, and the food is now delicious. There are meetings with residents and the chef to hear their suggestions. There’s plenty of space to talk with other residents in common areas. For those who want to stay in their rooms, they are quite spacious, with two closets and a heat lamp in the bathroom.

"Thanksgiving feast with family!"
My husband has been living at Avery Place for 5 weeks now. At first, it was hard for him to adjust, but the staff has been wonderful in helping him feel comfortable and safe. He has settled in well and seems happy. He’s getting more active in the many daily activities. They even went for a drive in the country the other day, and we loved seeing all the fall beauty. Last night, they had a lovely Thanksgiving feast for the residents and their families. I met many families and support groups there. The food was wonderful and a real treat for everyone.

"Wonderful place for my husband!"
We toured the facility a few months ago because we knew it was almost time to move my husband to a safe place. Three weeks later, I called Avery Place to see if there was space, and they said yes! We signed the papers three days later and moved him in just three days after that. The staff has been amazing, and the transition went very smoothly. He has adjusted well. Residents don’t stay in their rooms since there are activities every day for everyone, and all meals are served in the large dining rooms. The food has been really good so far, with generous portions. Family and friends are always welcome, 24 hours a day. The monthly cost is very reasonable for all the services they provide. Our family would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a safe, secure, and friendly place for their loved ones.

"Unclean Facility Not Fit For Loved Ones!"
My initial reaction to this assisted living community during our visit was it seriously needed a thorough cleaning. There were boxes stacked everywhere and the building wasn't properly taken care of. In the dining room, dishes were left around and the carpet was heavily stained. My family member was totally unimpressed and completely ruled out the possibility of living in such a setting.

"Wonderful care, friendly staff, fast response time"
They did a great job getting my mother-in-law admitted quickly. Everyone is friendly and helpful. When she presses her call button, they’re there in 1-2 minutes, usually with two staff members to help since she has Parkinson's. She’s getting better care than we could at home with sitters, and they love the food here.

"Warm, caring staff and great care at Avery Place"
When I first walked into the facility unexpectedly, I felt an immediate sense of warmth and comfort. The staff is absolutely wonderful! My mother moved here from another place, and she has been getting better every day since arriving at Avery Place. Maria takes care of all the paperwork with such care and makes sure my mom gets everything she needs. Matt and Cassidy were very kind when they came to check on my mom and welcomed her to Avery. The food is tasty and healthy, and they offer great activities. My mom’s apartment is always clean. I honestly can’t find anything to complain about; we feel very lucky that my mom is here.

"Small, beautiful community!"
My godmother and sister both live at Avery Place. My godmother is doing great and loves the food. It's a nice community with a lovely outdoor area, trees, and benches. They have activities like bingo, balloon volleyball, trivia, and movie nights. The smaller size makes the staff more accessible. It's a beautiful, pastoral setting.

"Very nice, clean & friendly but possibly too helpful."
In this review, the author praises Avery Place for being clean, friendly, and well-maintained. However, they express concern that the staff's attentive care might have made it challenging for their family member to regain independence. Additionally, there were unexpected charges related to medication administration. Despite these issues, the staff's friendliness and recent facility updates are acknowledged. 🌟

"Unmet Expectations at Avery Place, But Potential Remains"
We relocated to Avery Place with the idea that their memory care facility would soon be available. However, due to issues found during a fire inspection, this isn't yet the case. The memory care director is impressive, but isn't currently responsible for my mom who's in the normal assisted living area. The meal options are troubling, serving the exact same meal for both lunch and dinner. Also, the facility's van service was delayed when taking my mother to a medical appointment, resulting in the need to reschedule. This has happened more than once. There seems to be some mismanagement happening here. However, I have faith in the memory care director and see potential if certain things are addressed.

"Caring Staff and Lovely Setting at Avery Place"
Winterville (Avery Place) has been a good place for my husband who has dementia and some physical problems. The staff is caring, and the facility is spacious and nice-looking. Residents can enjoy the outdoors by sitting on the front porch or lawn. When there have been problems, I have told the overseeing staff, and they have fixed them.
