"Assisted Living Facility Review: Needs Improvement, Decent Therapy Options"
You should really go and see it for yourself. Walk around the place. Meet everyone who works there. The building itself needs some fixing up. The food quality and nutrition could be better. They should hire more staff. However, they do offer excellent therapy services. They have a large therapy room and an outside company that provides all three types of therapy. You can even schedule these therapy sessions. But they need to improve some other areas before I could recommend Charter.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My friend stays in the memory care section. Last time I visited, she was trying to reach a table in her wheelchair. She seemed stuck in a corner, going back and forth, hitting the wall. Everyone looked unhappy and not well-kept, and they seemed lonely. One lady was eating with flies on her plate. I saw some old games and puzzles stacked up, covered in dust. There was only one caregiver, and they were just staring at their phone, not paying attention to anyone. I couldn't hold back my tears; it was such a sad situation! They should spend less time on their phones and more time with the residents. When I took my friend to her room, she was already wet and dirty. Her room was messy too. When we returned to the main room, still no one interacted or spoke until I asked for some water for my friend. It was heartbreaking to leave her there.

"Amazing staff, great activities, overall wonderful experience at Charter Senior Living"
We loved Charter Senior Living! The sales team was amazing, helping us move our loved one in smoothly. The staff was super nice and always willing to help. Although they had some staffing issues now and then, the staff consistently followed a schedule and treated our loved one with great respect. There were always fun activities on the assisted living side, including lots of musical entertainment. The memory care side also had activities for those who could participate. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

"Caution: Slow Response Times and Staff Shortages at Charter Senior Living"
We picked Charter Senior Living 'cause it's nearby and seemed great. But now, I'm not so sure. Make sure to check on your loved ones a lot because it takes ages for them to respond when they need help. This is our main problem. And they don't seem to have enough staff around.

"Poor Care and Neglect Reported at Assisted Living Facility"
They charge them based on the services they're supposed to provide. My mom has vision loss from macular degeneration. They were tasked with helping her eat and filling out meal orders, but instead, they would just leave her food on a tray and not assist her. It felt like she was always hungry. Some staff members weren't as kind to her as they could have been. She felt afraid being there. One time they brought her soup, but they never brought her dinner. This was because nobody filled out her meal selections. If it weren't for my husband visiting, she would have gone hungry. They would escort her to the dining room late at night, around 11 or 12. This was when other people were laughing and going about their work, all while she was crying out for help. They'd just leave her there in her wheelchair. She was sick of sitting and not doing what she was supposed to. This made her feel fearful. I chose this facility because my grandparents had been here when it was privately owned. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The staff would go into her room, but they wouldn't clean it. The facility had activities like group singing, bible reading on Sundays, and even bingo. I genuinely believe that if we hadn't moved her, she would not have survived there.

"Shoddy Treatment at Assisted Living Facility: A Heartfelt Warning"
I truly regret giving this poorly managed facility even half a star. My mother, who currently resides here, has informed me of disappointments such as inferior dining portions. When residents visit the doctor, they are isolated in their rooms for a full fortnight, cut off from any human interaction. She also shared her sadness when her cherished plant that she had nurtured for years was given away without her consent. She told me about a recent lunch comprised only of a single chicken leg and barely any rice and beans. Labeling the food as unpalatable, she definitely knows what she's talking about, given her excellent culinary skills. It’s my mission now to relocate her to a better place. She confided that staff members respond harshly when residents dare to ask simple questions. I implore anyone seeking assisted living for their dear ones, avoid this facility at all costs.

"Brookdale of Buford Disappoints with Poor Administration"
I wouldn't suggest Brookdale of Buford to anyone. My mom was there for seven months. While the personal caregivers were great and really caring, the management staff was unkind and unprofessional. They'll tell you whatever you want to make you sign the contract. We were promised many services for my mom, but they failed to deliver them. We always had to push for even basic services they said she'd get. They lied to us repeatedly and were never ready for meetings that we asked for. Look at other options before deciding on this place for your family member.

"Hidden Problem: Brookdale Medication Lapses on Weekends"
Brookdale Buford may seem perfect. The meals taste great, the workers are nice, and the place looks fantastic inside and out, but there's a hidden issue happening here. My mom had to endure restless nights four times in the past Brookdales staff didn't give her her sleep medicine (lorazepam) - strangely, always on weekends. Each time, my family has contacted the Brookdale management. But their responses don't truly solve the major problem - huge profits and costs controlled by a small, undertrained team. As a pharmacist for over 40 years, I can tell when this sort of medicine goes missing. This platform to voice my opinion is appreciated.

"Misery at Brookdale Buford - Unbearable 2 week experience"
My grandma stayed in the memory care area of this place. She's 91 and suffers from dementia. She shared her living space with a lady who liked to 'grab stuff'. They didn't tell us she would actually those things she got her hands on. I understand this can happen with dementia folks, but they should be in their own room if they're known for it. After just under two weeks, I see my grandma holding on to her pajamas, insisting "These are MINE!" Her roommate got hold of grandma's diapers (they didn't have any lock-safe spot for personal stuff like diapers - despite what the contract said. And they didn't even give a lock when I asked many times). She even got hold of grandma's clothes, photos (including my wedding photo), towels... There are 14 folks in that unit. The day we moved grandma in, there was ONE worker for all 14 of them - even had to feed all of them. Very understaffed. It's also a super messy place. The boss LIED to me two times (about the number of staff and that grandma's room was NEVER shared by two people before) I HATE being lied to! After two hard weeks, I gave them our 30-day warning and got grandma out that instant. It was so worth it to get her out. I felt like I had to go there every day just to keep her stuff safe! Now grandma is in a quiet place where no one is taking her stuff. The caregiver-resident ratio is an incredible 3 to 6! And she gets real homemade meals. I wouldn't tell anyone to go to Brookdale Buford!

We had a really good tour of this place. Everything went really well. Everyone was really nice to my family and me. The place looked great, everything was nice, and well taken care of. The people who work there were nice, and they answered our questions. Unfortunately, the place was too far away for our families to visit. But we ended up going to another place owned by the same company, and everything is going well there.

"Disorganized Facility with Poor Service and Dishonesty"
This place didn't have enough staff and was super disorganized. My mom's roommate even took her stuff. The food wasn't as good as in the Assisted Living side. On multiple occasions, they dressed my mom in jeans and pajama tops when they were meant to help her dress properly, but just couldn't bother to find a shirt for her. The manager wasn't honest with me two times at least. I couldn't wait to get my mom out of there!

"Perfect for Mama's Memory Care Needs!"
Brookdale Buford was just what we prayed for! When we urgently needed a place for Mama's memory care, the transition was quick and easy. Her room is big, and she loves it. "Friendly and Supportive Memory Care with Delicious Food"
The folks helping out in Memory care are always nice and helpful. They said we'd get a weekly menu so residents could know what's for meals, but that hasn't happened. Even when they post the menu, it doesn't match what's served. But the food is yummy! The servings are just right for the residents, and if they're still hungry, they can ask for seconds. The rooms stay tidy, and the staff really tries to make a happy atmosphere. They always have music playing and play games with the residents. Everyone's always smiling.

"Clean and friendly facility, rooms too small for us."
I visited this place to see if it was right for my family member. It was clean and tidy, and the staff I talked to were nice and seemed like they knew what they were doing. But the rooms were a bit small for the amount they charge, and most of the people living there needed more care than my family member. We decided to go with another place, but I would've thought about this one if things were different.

"Substandard Living and Zero Security at Pricy Brookdale"
When we first visited Brookdale in Buford on Old Hamilton, there were open doors with no security present. There were no checks for IDs or any form of inquiry about who we were. Access to the Alzheimer's section was as simple as punching in a code openly displayed on the door. This lack of security is alarming, especially considering the high cost for their assisted living services. In addition to the weak security measures, the staff appeared to be underpaid and overwhelmed. The quality of the food was subpar, resembling that of hospital grub. Observably, the rooms lacked cleanliness. Furthermore, when I informed a staff member that my family member was expressing discomfort in her right arm and making a strange noise, she brushed it off as a common nightly occurrence without performing any check-ups or testing her blood pressure. For these reasons, I give Brookdale 2 stars, including a zero for security. At this pricing, I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone unless they take security more seriously. Despite these criticisms, I remain optimistic that they can amend these flaws. But until they do, my rating remains 2 stars.

"Think Twice: Management Issues Plague Emeritus at Buford"
Think twice before choosing Emeritus at Buford for your family. Why, you may ask? There are a bunch of issues. They messed up administering my mom's medication, and that's really worrisome! The meals are just as underwhelming as the ones in a school cafeteria (find out a facility's meal budget per person!). They've been dangling the carrot of high-speed internet in resident rooms for over a year, but each time I check in for updates, no one, even the Executive Director, has any solid answer on when it will be available. Why does high-speed internet matter to me? It's the best way for my mom to look at our family pictures on Facebook on my iPad. The home really falls short in communicating with us, the family of the residents. For instance, it's always a mystery when the doctor is slated to swing by. They don't even have an email list to stay connected with the families of their residents. It's clear to me that this place has severe management issues. The only silver lining is that the staff members are actually friendly and caring.

"Facility's Confusion Causes Unsettled New Resident"
We've experienced quite a bit of confusion about what services are taken care of and which aren't. We've had to go back to the facility multiple times to check if certain tasks were completed. This includes knowing her room cleaning schedule, shower times (we still don't have this info), events timetable, and other details. The director seems like they're away more than being present at the facility. It also feels like responses to any of our requests are usually slow. It's important to mention that my mom has only been here since last Thursday evening. Unfortunately, they didn't clean her bathroom before she moved in, but they promised it would be done by tomorrow (her designated deep cleaning day). She hasn't had a shower yet. We understand that adjusting to a new place might take a couple of weeks, but she's been falsely accused of smoking in her room several times, which has upset both of us.
