"Appalling care and conditions at this assisted living facility."

I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone, not even my worst foe. People living here, particularly those in memory care, were served cold meals. I had several distressing experiences, like finding my mom in a community area without any pants on. And it wasn't just one gender present, both men and women were there! There were multiple times I found my mom in her room and she was dirty. Plus, I noticed numerous scrapes, scratches, and bruises on her arms. It was explained to me that they locked her in her room to keep her safe from others, so they claimed. I relocated her immediately once I had the chance. Please, I beg you, do not consider this awful place for your loved ones.

"Friendly staff, needs better food and more renovations"

My mother stayed at Charter of Vinings. The staff was friendly and mostly helpful, but I think they could use more people and better food. The building is old, but they are starting to fix it up. Overall, I would recommend this place if you have family nearby.

"Corporate Vibe Deterred Us"

I visited Charter of Vinings, and it seemed nice, but it felt too corporate and insincere. That's why we didn't pick it for my loved one.

"Mixed Feelings About Charter Assisted Living"

The person who helped us sign up was really good. Overall, I'm pretty happy with Charter. I think it's the best one we checked out, but no place is perfect. We've had some problems, though. Some of the workers are really great, but some seem like they're just there for work. We've had to keep reminding them about things, which is worrying because it stops us from relaxing – it's really frustrating. I'd tell others to speak up for their loved ones and make sure they can talk to the staff. I'd suggest putting a camera in your loved one's room. If you don't like something, tell them about it.

"Clean and friendly facility, not ideal for specific needs, still recommended"

I visited this community and had a good experience. It's neat, the staff is nice, and my visit was really nice. It just wasn't the perfect fit for my loved one's personal needs. But overall, it's a great place!

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Some Improvements"

When we toured Charter of Vinings, the staff were great, caring about residents. But the place itself looked old, needing maintenance.

"Friendly and Welcoming, but Needs Healthier Food Options"

We picked The Social because it was the best choice for the price when we were looking. They should offer healthier food options for the residents. It's a small place. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, and the staff communicates well with families. It's a pretty nice facility, and things are going well for us here.

"Mixed experience Ensure proper program Food portions generous."

I think it's important to make sure your family member gets into the right program. If they have memory problems, the memory care unit might be best, even though it's pricier. The food they serve has big portions, and they even give out cookies.

"Friendly, attentive staff and well-maintained facility."

The staff here is fantastic—they're friendly and pay great attention to the residents. They always put the residents first, are easy to work with, and keep the facility in excellent shape!

"Decent Facility, But Small Apartments"

The place and the employees are cool, but my mom found the apartment too tiny. She's used to a one-story ranch house that's about 1600 square feet plus a basement. So, even though it was a combined studio/1 bedroom, it wasn't enough room for her. Not our top pick. But, the activities they offer and the spaces where everyone hangs out are really great.

"Great Folks, Hospital-Like Atmosphere"

I visited this place and totally liked the whole community. The folks were great and the assisted living part was good. But, the unit for memory care, where my family member would be if we had chosen to move here, made me feel sad. It seemed gloomy and too much like a hospital. Plus, Brookdale was more of a drive than I was hoping for.

"Great facility, but need clarity on care costs."

I really like the physical appearance of the facility. The extensive social programs are great, and I like the studio apartments. The location is nice, too, close to 121. However, I’m a bit concerned about the overall price. I’ve reached out to ask about care costs, which weren’t included in the materials. I’m also trying to set up a nurse visit to assess my mom's current abilities, which will help figure out the total price.

"Affordable"

We visited this community after a recommendation and found it very affordable! The community is wonderful and has plenty of activities. Even though I'm out of state, the friendly staff sends me photos of my mom painting, going out to lunch, and other activities.

"Friendly and Professional Staff"

I liked how nice and helpful the staff were at this place. They showed us around and answered all our questions well. My only problem was the shared bathroom; I don't think my mom would like that.

"Friendly community with some drawbacks."

This place is really nice. We enjoyed it. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The other residents seemed to like it too. They answered all our questions. Unfortunately, it didn't work well for my husband.

"Not a good fit!"

This place is really nice. The staff couldn't be any nicer. The community just felt different to me, so I didn't want to send my mom here. Everything seemed nice, just not the right fit for mom.

"Very supportive community for Dad!"

I am really impressed with this community and how they help my dad. He is having a tough time adjusting, but the staff has been very understanding and helpful. Dad is trying to join in on some of the activities they offer. The therapy is going well.

"A Wonderful Place!"

My mom gained weight at Brookdale, which is great. She loves the food, and everyone is friendly. The place is wonderful.

"Not Quite Right"

The Brookdale Vinings wasn't great for Dad. The memory care unit seemed dark and the vibe didn't feel right, despite the friendly tour guide.

"Familiar Place with Nice People but Lacks Needed Care"

This place was really nice and the people were super helpful. But, it didn't have the care my mom needed. We knew this place from having my grandma here before.

"Clean and Secure Environment"

Everything looks safe and tidy.

"Looking After Dad: Short Stay at Assisted Living Facility"

My dad stayed here for a little bit and was looked after by a brilliant team. We noticed that the place was well-maintained. They offered fun activities, though my dad didn't stay long enough to join in. I'd suggest this place to others who need to find care for someone they love.

"Clean and Fun Assisted Living Community!"

I really liked visiting Brookdale Vinings. The people who showed me around knew a lot and made sure to answer all my questions. Everything there was really tidy. They had a bunch of activities for everyone to do.

""Better Off Back Home after Subpar Experience!""

Lucky for me, I wasn't there long because boy, it was dreadful! They seriously lacked enough staff and since I was only there for a break, I didn't get the care I needed. I recall waiting almost two hours for a nurse to assist me to get ready for dinner. The food was bad and lots of times, the menu items weren't even available. Jello was the only dessert ever served and majority of the residents were not as alert as I am. The only positive I can tell you is their therapy service is top-notch. Aside from that, I'm glad to be home.

"Caring Staff, Positive Experience"

Our time at Brookdale Vinings has been really great! The people who work here, especially the managers, are super nice and easy to talk to. I like that they're clear about how they take care of residents and handle bills. My family member has found it hard to adjust, but the staff are doing everything they can to help him feel comfortable.

"Limited Activities, Otherwise Decent Facility"

I didn't inquire about the activities enough. Mostly TV watching. Okay otherwise at Brookdale Vinings.

"Weekend Staff Needs More Experience and Patience"

My Mom gets a lot of care and attention here, even though she suffers from serious dementia. But, the place could do with some more trained workers, especially on the weekends. I've even heard the weekend workers raise their voice at some of the patients.

"Grateful for Caring Staff"

Brookdale Vinings is working hard to fill vacancies. The director and many nurses are new. About half the staff is new. My dad is bedridden and on hospice care. They're taking good care of him, keeping him going. The staff is really friendly. I appreciate their efforts.

"Looked very nice!"

I visited this community while checking care options for a loved one. The place was clean and well-kept, the rooms looked nice, and all the staff I met were friendly and professional. We chose this place and one other, letting our loved one decide. She picked the other place because of its location, but I would have felt comfortable placing her here!

"Disappointed: Vinings Facility Needs Improvement."

Dull and filthy, the facility has left me underwhelmed. Sure, it's located in the desirable locale of Vinings, but it definitely screams a much-needed makeover. The inhabitants I interacted with just seemed upset. This place ended up as my least preferred option. A noteworthy alert was their promotional offer of free rent for the 3rd and 4th months - this struck me as a clear sign that the facility isn't ranked highly on others' lists.

"Facility Ill-Suited for Residents Prone to Falling"

Our loved one's care needs went beyond what this facility could provide. Not long after moving in, she had a fall leading us to realize that assisted living wasn't enough for her. My recommendation for other families considering this place is to make sure that your dear one isn't susceptible to falls, so you can avoid going through a similar situation.

"Great place with friendly staff!"

Brookdale Vinings did a great job overall. Even though our time with them was short, it was a good experience. The staff was friendly and caring, and they take great care of the residents. The facility is clean and well maintained, with lots to offer.

"Happy Customer"

I have been very impressed with Emeritus and A Place for Mom. Every contact I had with their personnel was A+ plus. I highly recommend seniors looking for help with living situations use the service provided by A Place for Mom. Emeritus has a great staff.

"Terrible Care and Negligence at Assisted Living Facility"

I had to move my Mom from this living center because she got the wrong medicine four times. Luckily, I was there to catch it. I reported it to the nurses and the top boss, but they didn't care. Only the wellness nurse paid attention. Another time, they nearly gave my Mom someone else's medicine. I complained, but nothing changed. The activity schedule hardly ever happens - most times, people just sit around watching TV or just looking at each other. A lot of residents leave because their families aren't happy with what they're getting for their money. My Mom even fainted and broke her ankle one night, and if I hadn't been there, she would have been on the floor until the next morning because they don't check on residents like they're supposed to. One worker actually told me she didn't have time to bother with it. I had to retire to take care of my Mom, who can move around fine and is still in good health but has a bit of memory loss. The meals were bad and they often ran out of things. I ended up spending more time there with my Mom than at my job.

"Cautiously Optimistic for Upcoming Management Changes."

We thought about relocating from here, but we chose to remain. The regional boss stepped in and tackled the problems we encountered. If you're part of the assisted living program, they're not fully prepared to aid those with Alzheimer's. However, if you're independent and mostly able to take care of yourself, it’s a great environment. We had a handful of issues but I am hopeful the new administration will address them.

"Management and Staff Performance Didn't Meet Expectations"

We picked this assisted living facility because a lady we worked with got us a good bargain. However, its location wasn't easy for us. The management seemed weak, often failing to carry out their duties, and if they did they didn't stick to it for long. The staff seemed to do what they pleased. The food didn't taste great. The activities were only alright - it seemed like they used to have more things planned, but there was always an excuse why they didn't happen. We've met with management and the higher-ups, but when things still don’t improve, you just know it's time to find a better place.

"Mom is much happier at Emeritus"

I felt relieved when my mom moved into Emeritus. The place was very clean, friendly, and the residents seemed well cared for. When we moved Mom from her old place, Emeritus was incredibly helpful, making the transition easy. They welcomed her with kindness and continue to show the same care. It's tough to hand over the care of a loved one. You always wonder if they will be treated as well as you would. I believe she's getting the care I would give her. Since moving, she's been more relaxed and happier, needing less medication to stay calm.

"Feels Like Home for Dad"

The facility is really clean, and all the staff are very friendly. You can tell the employees enjoy working there. Everyone works together as a team to make sure my dad’s needs are met. The staff went above and beyond to help us settle him in, even adding extra shelves in his closet and helping hang his curtains to make it feel like his old home. I also appreciate that a doctor visits once a month, and the on-site nurse keeps all his records, so we don’t have to worry about getting him to appointments.

"Tour Promises vs. Reality"

What you hear on the tour and what you see later can be different. The staff is very caring and friendly with the residents. The food is good, but all tables should have salt, pepper, and other condiments. Activities aren’t posted in places residents can see easily, and they should be announced every day. This is a memory care center, so most residents don’t check the calendar but will join activities if staff reminds them. Activities don't always happen as scheduled. Housecleaning of apartments is basic, and I haven't gotten a clear answer on how often or what gets cleaned. Executive staff is nice but needs follow-up for questions and problems. Families need to know exactly the level of care their loved one gets and ask for assessments and results. Once a care level is assigned, it’s hard to change except to increase and pay more. They say a detailed assessment is done after three months and shared with the family, but this didn't happen. Cleanliness is good but not great, especially deep cleaning and maintenance. Families must ensure their loved ones get the services promised. Executive staff works mainly Monday to Friday until 5:00 PM. It would help to have someone on call during weekends, especially at night. Finding help in the evening is hard. If a resident is somewhat self-sufficient and can remember dates and times, they’ll be fine. But if a resident needs more one-on-one care, families need to be diligent to make sure they’re getting care on time.

"Convenient Living with Spacious Apartments and Great Location"

This place is really nice. The apartments are big and they have lots of different designs to pick from. It's near stores for shopping and there's a bus you can take.

"A Welcoming Home"

Moving in was easy. They spruced up the apartment nicely, with fresh paint, new carpets, and a good cleaning. The staff was super friendly and always ready to assist. The meals were okay, but they could step it up a notch. The place is always spick and span though

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Helpful Staff, Pricey Extras, Civilized Environment"

I had to decide fast and they were helpful. Once there, I found it cost more than expected. They were nice but had hidden fees. Despite that, they worked hard to help. They seem kind and gentle. On moving day, they even arranged a salon visit to ease the transition. Overall, it feels civilized.

"Liked the small resident number, but lacked flexibility in timing"

I appreciated the limited number of residents in the memory-care section. This makes it seem like a comfortable place for my mom. However, I was not impressed that they intended to charge for the last few days of December, and then start full payment from January, even though we were not ready to move her in yet. I didn't feel that they were flexible with our timeline. It seemed they were mainly focused on their profit. Aside from that, the facility was satisfactory. The staff was actively involved with the memory-care residents. Even though the initial down payment was high, the monthly charges seemed reasonable.
