"Friendly Staff, Management Struggles with Guidance"
The bosses at the place aren’t too open to suggestions or help from outside, like what hospice offers. They don’t seem to listen to instructions all that well. The workers who help us every day are really nice, but they sometimes find it tough to stick to the rules for taking care of us, like putting on masks when there’s sickness going around.

"Unsafe Conditions and Poor Care at Assisted Living Facility"
My mom's been left alone for hours after her hospital stay. She still doesn't have a call button and has to use her phone to reach caregivers, who often don't come. Twice, she was left in her mess for too long. I witnessed a resident and caregiver arguing loudly, leaving the resident in tears. The hospital doctor didn't want to send her back because of bruises. We're financially stuck.

"Avoid this Dreadful Assisted Living Facility, Nightmarish Conditions Reported"
Avoid this assisted living place at all costs—it's a nightmare. You'd get a better dinner at a cafeteria than what they hand out here. It's only two cuts of white bread, some lunch meat, Jello, and chips every single day. And forget about a peaceful rest, because people are screaming around the clock. Staff assistance is as slow as molasses when you need them. The rooms are supposed to be cleaned weekly, but that promise falls through too. Getting your laundry done feels like pulling teeth. You need to keep reminding them to pick it up. The laundry lady is honestly the only one who impressively does her job. Medications should be filled at breakfast, but mom constantly had to keep asking because it was never done. As for dining timings, expect to wait an eternity to get served. The hallways smell awful, like dirt and poop. One of mom's friends actually lost 45 lbs after living there for a few months. My mother's weight has also taken a hit. We've been trying to counteract this by bringing her food and snacks every week. And coffee lovers beware—you only get one tiny cup at breakfast and refills are non-existent. The staff offer no reprieve either. They choose to hang out in the hallways, chatting up a storm all through the night. They poke their heads into people's rooms while they're out dining or in the dead of the night. Startle them with a noise and they'll scamper off. They don't even let you lock up unless you're inside the room, yet they still manage to sneak in. We're really contemplating bringing in the health department because the residents are treated so poorly. We even saw a lady, half-clothed, screaming for help in the hallway. My wife, who’s a nurse, informed a staff member, but they showed no sense of urgency.

"Inconsistent Leadership and Poor Cleanliness"
The staff tries hard, but when my father was there in 2022, the facility had trouble keeping the Director position filled. The assistant director was great, but she wasn't always there. It was impossible for a family member to get a staff person on the phone at any time of day. I rated the cleanliness a "2" because of the constant smell from those who were incontinent and needed a higher level of care.

"Disappointing Care Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The food stayed in the room for three days while my family member was in the hospital. The workers didn't bring my loved one to activities. The food servings were tiny and unappetizing. They refused to fetch my loved one from the hospital after their stay.

"Woeful food, bad management, and broken handicapped door"
These folks would be lucky to get a 1 from me. The meals tasted terrible, my family member didn't even want to eat it. The place is managed badly. There's nobody manning the front desk, you can't get hold of anyone on the phone after sunset, and they're always short on staff. Even the disability-friendly door doesn't work properly.

"Friendly Staff, But Food Needs Improvement"
The meals weren’t great and there wasn’t enough. My family member got skinnier when they were supposed to get healthier. The price is okay for what you get, and everyone working there was super nice the whole time we were there. But in the end, the problems with the food were just too much for us.

"Mediocre Facility Compared to Country Gardens, but has Friendly Staff"
The place is older and not as nice as the Country Gardens at Dunwoody place. There's a library right across the street, so they don't need a library inside. It was sorta weird that most folks had their doors open while they were eating dinner. A few of the people who used to live there changed their closet into a little kitchen, but they had to pay for it themselves. Some of the rooms don't have their own temperature control; it depends on where the room is in the hallway. The staff seemed pretty nice, though.

"Neglected Care at Country Gardens Senior Daycare"
I often bring my dad to Country Gardens for their Senior Daycare to give myself a little breather, as I'm his primary caretaker. However, I've become really unhappy with their service because they've been neglecting to change my dad's diapers. He needs them and I've told them on multiple occasions that they need to check him every now and then. After an 8-hour day, I returned to find him absolutely drenched. They hadn't used a single diaper that I had packed for him. This has happened three times now. I'm paying for a service that they're failing to deliver, not to mention how expensive it is! As a result, I won't be returning to Country Gardens.

I really like the care my loved one gets here from the wonderful staff. The place is clean and has a nice feel to it. The food is pretty good with lots of choices, and there are plenty of activities for her to do with the other residents. The staff is very welcoming, which we appreciate a lot. We would highly recommend this community for the excellent care they provide.

"Not Quite Ready for Assisted Living Despite Kind Staff"
This is a place for seniors to get help with day-to-day stuff. The building is kinda old, about 25 years, and everyone gets a one-room suite with a tiny fridge. They just isn't prepared for this stage yet. But hey, the staff was really sweet, and we learned a lot about the difference between assisted living here and living in a retirement community with personal care options elsewhere.

"P.S. Leadership's Lies: Beware of False Representation"
Caution! This facility falls short of its promotion. The glossy brochure is full of lies. A doctor visits just once a month. They grudgingly provide only one grocery trip per week. Numerous residents should be in a nursing home, not here. The facilities lack essential life-saving tools. They've simply deleted this information. The food is shocking. Their much-vaunted homemade soup is just water, grease, and some flavoring- I know this since I've been in the food business. Meals are frustratingly tiny. Almost every Sunday, dinner's just a single slice of cheap lunch meat between two slices of bread, sometimes accompanied by canned beets. Contrastingly, the staff indulges in hearty meals. The staff is underpaid, understaffed, and indifference is prevalent. Except for a handful, most couldn't care less. I experienced numerous medication errors. P.S. management clearly prioritizes filling up rooms over sincere care. They'll assure you with a straight face that P.S. is 'one big happy family.

"Son Reports Mom's Unfavorable One Week Stay Experience"
My mom didn't really like staying there. They woke her up every day at 6:30 in the morning, even though she usually sleeps until 9 or even later. They didn't give her the help she needed for her CPAP machine. So she didn't use it the whole week she was there. She told me the food was kinda decent, but not very good.

"Always scrutinize and unpredictably show up at care facilities."
I discovered my dad's medicines contained pills belonging to another resident. Although I was assured he hadn't consumed any, it was a huge letdown. The people working on weekends are terrible, there's no excuse for ignoring the call button for half an hour because you're on a break. Once, when I went to see him, his wheelchair was lost which I found near the dining area. I'm not sure why he wasn't escorted to his room in his wheelchair, or why they didn't bother returning it. All assisted living facilities are essentially the same. The guys at the top who barely contribute are the ones reaping the benefits, whereas the real workers, who are trying to get by, are underpaid. I suggest you continually scrutinize whichever facility you opt for. Vary the timing of your visits. Surprisingly visit and be a thorn in their side if need be. Lastly, my father passed away a week into the month. The monthly fee was already covered and I was promised a prorated refund. One month later, I received a short refund. When I contacted the facility, they agreed to a mistake and eventually compensated me after another month had passed.

"Not Enough Staff for Personalized Care at Assisted Living Facility"

"Overwhelming Disappointment in Assisted Living Facility's Care & Conditions"
I'm sincerely disappointed with this facility. The food made her ill frequently. Their idea of soup is a half cup full of fat. Their meals are unappetizing. The cleanliness is not maintained, all they do is slightly dust and empty trash bins. The bedroom is cramped with only space for a bed, a chair, and a dresser. I wouldn't permit even a rodent to reside there. The visiting doctor charges an entry fee alone, even if no services are required by the resident.

"Decent Assisted Living Facility; Great Food But Lacks Memory Care"
This assisted living facility doesn't offer memory care. However, it's in a good spot and the people are nice. There are also men around my dad's age that he would get along with. His room, the Magnolia, is spacious with 430 square feet, which is nice. The decor seems a bit old-fashioned, but I've heard great things about their food. They even mentioned that the chef goes around and asks for feedback from the residents. There's a pretty small courtyard, but the front porch area is pretty enjoyable. Overall, the place has a comfortable feel. It's a tad roomier than CY/LS, but not by a significant amount.

"Pleased but needed more help"
It was great for her needs at the time. It was something she could afford, and they did well with many things. Their activities weren’t the fastest, but overall it was good, and she started to relax and make friends. She was able to do her own thing. Unfortunately, just two days before she moved, she became really dehydrated, and the doctor came to help. He ended up sending her to the hospital because she was not doing well. The issue is that Mom needs a higher level of care. We were happy with them, but after her episode, we decided she needed more help than they could provide. They said they could try to keep her there, and she wanted to go back, but since we were in Athens, I couldn’t just hop in the car to see her.
