"The Oaks"
Our time here has been mostly positive. I think they could do better at encouraging residents to interact with each other and join in activities. We picked the Oaks because of the price, where it's located, and how friendly the staff seemed when we first arrived.

"Disappointed by Confusion and High Costs at Oaks at Habersham"
Our family visited Oaks at Habersham for a tour, and we left feeling let down. They didn’t seem to have it together. Even though we had set up a time to meet, we ended up waiting around for half an hour before someone finally showed up to talk to us. That didn’t sit well with us at all. On top of that, the cost they asked for seemed too much for what it was.

"Improvement Needed: Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Care"
I'm not very happy with the service here. I told them what's bothering me, but they haven't fixed anything yet. They need to do better at taking care of the people who live here. My family member isn't getting the care they need.

"Security Concerns at Oaks at Habersham"
I wasn't too impressed with Oaks at Habersham. The security wasn't great—the doors just opened without a code. I worried my loved one might escape, so I didn't feel comfortable placing them there.

"**"Welcoming Assisted Living with Outstanding Food and Activities!"**"
It feels really welcoming here. They told us about the cost and what's included upfront. No surprise fees. They do housekeeping and take out the trash every day. Plus, they do a deep cleaning once a week. The food is amazing! It doesn't taste like typical institutional food. The portions are good, too. They have lots of activities during the week, mostly at the facility but some out in the community. And guess what? There's live music at least once a week! Overall, the place is super clean, and everyone seems really happy. I'd totally recommend it to family and friends.

Because it was online, hard to judge. Old building, cheap.

"Assisted Living Facility Struggles with Staff Availability"
This place doesn't have enough workers. Nurses aren't around much. It's hard to get help from the kitchen for patients on weekends.

"Disappointing Memory Care Experience at Habersham House"
We put Mom into Habersham House (HH) Memory Care. The problems, as described below, were plenty: We first had to give them our personal financial details to get Mom admitted. We felt this was nosy, but okay. We also filled out a questionnaire about Mom's likes and dislikes, which we thought was thorough. But it was soon clear that the staff either didn't get this info, or just didn't care about it. On Mom's 91st birthday, nothing was done. No party, no mention, nothing. When we asked the Director about it, it seemed like the staff didn't know. The facility had regular activities and live music that Mom would've loved (as shared on her questionnaire). But they never took her. Our family was even there one day when a worker asked if anyone wanted to go to a performance. The aides quickly said "no", not even thinking that some residents might want to-go. According to their literature and ads, the memory care unit at HH uses something called the Montessori Method. But how they used that method in this setting was never explained to us. They listed daily activities but every time we visited, at different times of the day, there was never anything happening. The aides in the unit seemed to be grumpy and didn't respond to greetings. Most times, they seemed more into their phones than the residents. The residents, meanwhile, sat around watching various TV shows. They needed better treatment and more things to do. Mom was in the memory care unit at HH for about 6 weeks. Over that time, her hair was only washed twice, despite our asking them more times than that! One time, the person in charge said that washing hair wasn't their job and that we should get the hairdresser to do it. But what about the folks who can't afford a weekly hairdresser? Of course, when we mentioned it to the Director, they denied it. But it did happen. Their policy was to wash hair once a week, and bathe patients three times a week. One time, my sister went to visit Mom only to find Mom's room's door shut. She heard someone yelling from inside. When she knocked, a worker cracked the door and said they were helping Mom in the bathroom. When my sister talked to Mom after, Mom said the staff were rough with her. My sister even saw red marks on Mom's back. Draw your own conclusions there. Mom was moved here from a place out of state where she lived for 2 years. The staff there were great and we had no complaints. The same goes for the place we moved her to after HH—the staff treat residents with respect and truly care about them. They have plenty of things for residents to do and Mom's loving it. Her mental health has improved so much! I share all this to show that we're not first-timers, and we're not complainers either. Of all three places we've had experience with, only HH was disappointing.

"Avoid Habersham House for Your Loved Ones' Care"
We had to move our mom into the memory care unit at Habersham House (HH). During the application process, we were required to share private financial information which felt incredibly invasive. We also gave detailed information about our mom's lifestyle and preferences, yet it was obvious that the staff never took this into account. Our mom turned 91 while she lived there, and her birthday was totally ignored. They had lots of activities and music that she would have loved, but she was never included. There wasn’t even an attempt to consider which residents might want to participate. Despite their claim of using the Montessori Method in their advertising, we were never told how this worked with those suffering from memory loss. There was a board displaying daily activities, but we never saw any take place, despite our frequent visits. The staff seemed more interested in their phones than the residents, who were routinely left alone, watching TV shows with no value, resulting in a lack of stimulation. Over six weeks at HH, our mom got her hair washed only twice, even after we asked multiple times. The coordinator told us staff weren't allowed to wash hair, and we had to hire a hairdresser (which definitely felt shady). Upon lodging complaints, the director simply denied this. At one point, my sister found our mom's door closed and overheard shouting. When she questioned a staff member, they claimed they were helping her use the bathroom. Our mom mentioned how rough the staff were, and my sister discovered red marks on her back. Draw your own conclusions about that. Before HH, our mom was in an out-of-state home for two years where she received excellent care. Since HH, she is now in a new place where she is treated with respect, and her mental state has noticeably improved. Compared to the three homes we're familiar with, HH was clearly the worst. We don't usually complain, but HH was just unacceptable.

"Not my favorite spot for Mom"
I didn't like Habersham House when I visited. They have happy hour on Fridays, which I don't think is good for my mom because of her medicines. It might be what she wants but not what she really needs.

"Care and great value!"
This is a great place for care. The staff is very nice, and the community is always clean and well-kept. She liked the variety of healthy meals. They offered activities, but sometimes they were canceled. We would recommend this community for its excellent care and good value for other families and their loved ones.

I want to thank my Advisor from A Place for Mom for guiding me to the right place. This is an amazing facility! The food is delicious, it's always clean, and the staff is fantastic! It feels like a beautiful hotel when you walk in. The tables are nicely decorated, and they even brought in a performer to play on the grand piano this week. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

Everything is good for us here, and I would recommend it.

"Good Food, Needs More Staff for Music Enjoyment"
My uncle recently started living at this place. He’s 97 years old and has Alzheimer’s. It seems like they need more trained people to take care of everyone. My uncle really likes music, and they bring in bands and singers, which is cool. But sometimes, he misses out because they play in a different part of the place and he stays in the area for people with memory issues, and there’s no one to take him to see the music. The food’s great at Habersham, though! I had lunch with him and the corned beef was actually pretty tasty, even though I usually don’t like it.

"Could Be Better, But Grandpa's Corned Beef Lunch Was Good"
My grandpa recently started living here. He's 97 and he's got Alzheimer's. Feels like they could use more trained people to look after the old folks. My grandpa loves music and they do have bands come play, but sometimes the shows are too far from where he stays - the place for folks with memory problems - and there's nobody to help him get there. But, the meals at Habersham are super good! I had lunch with him today; usually, I'm not a fan of corned beef, but today's was not too shabby.

"Avoid this unclean, neglectful assisted living facility!"
My relative was staying there. It was an unclean location with a foul odor. They never offer any activities or follow-ups for the elderly living there. Additionally, my uncle frequently fell ill because of the food they served. Plus, they never respond to the phone calls. I strongly advise not to choose this place for your loved ones!

"Very Happy with Care and Comfort at Habersham House"
I’m really happy with the care my mother gets at Habersham House. Moving her to assisted living was tough, especially since my brother and I don’t live close by, but the staff has been amazing. Every time I visit, I feel reassured that she’s in good hands! The staff works hard to make her feel at ease and involved. Although her health has gotten worse since she moved in which is why she needed assisted living, the staff has stepped up to help her. Even though she now uses a wheelchair, she’s seeing their excellent physical and occupational therapists. The staff makes sure she stays engaged in conversations and activities. They truly care and have kept us well-informed. The apartments are wonderful her two-bedroom is lovely. Most importantly, Habersham House doesn’t feel like a facility but like a real home.

The community felt a bit too much like a big company, but it was really clean and tidy. Unfortunately, I didn't get to chat with any of the folks who live there.

"Facility Failed to Provide Adequate Care for My Mother"
It seems like this place simply isn't prepared or equipped to provide proper care for those who need medication after business hours, assistance with activities or who can't look after themselves. All the beautiful surroundings and impressive tour did not make up for the subpar care. Even though they assure me improvements have been made, there's no guarantee or offer that could convince me to bring my loved one back. I've since been told they thought my mother's care requirements were too demanding. Despite an in-home assessment where they said all would be okay, that was not the case. I don't usually give negative reviews, but I'm dead serious about this.

"Pretty Assisted Living, Memory Care Falls Short"
They definitely need more people working there. We couldn't get the level of care we wanted for our loved one. Our experience wasn't the best. We picked this place because it seemed great. His room wasn't cleaned frequently enough, though the shared spaces are nice. The assisted living part is good, but the side for memory care isn't as high quality.

We're very happy with them! The staff is super helpful, especially during our crisis. They always call back quickly. I don’t know much about the activities in memory care since my loved one can’t remember, but I’ve seen them take residents outside. Meals are good, though breakfast doesn’t change much. Lunch and dinner have nice variety, but it would help if they cut up the meat. Overall, I’d recommend them to anyone!

"Great Staff, Low Toilets, Convenient Location"
Jennifer is amazing! This place is really nice. We met lots of workers and some people who live here. I preferred the apartments where you can do things on your own rather than the ones where they help you. The toilets are too low, which can be hard. It's super close to doctors and hospitals. The neighborhood in Savannah is nice, and there are stores nearby. I might choose this one.

"Great Care and Happy Parents at Habersham House!"
My parents moved into Habersham House about two and a half weeks ago. On their first night, I asked them to just stay for dinner because it was my anniversary. I planned to have them come back to my house the next day since they were a bit unsure at first. We had already moved their basic furniture in and were waiting for the hospital bed to arrive. The staff at Habersham House made sure the bed came that day and got it set up during dinner. After dinner, my mom called to say they decided to spend the night. They are really happy with their room, and the staff is wonderful. There’s a therapist there, so my mom doesn't have to leave for physical therapy, and she has gotten to know her therapist well. They love the food, and my mom is really thankful that she doesn’t have to cook anymore. They have been married for almost 60 years, and I’m so glad we toured Habersham House first because it felt like the right place for them. I have no complaints and feel really good about their care.

"Extremely warm and welcoming; friendly management staff"
The environment here is really warm and welcoming. The management staff is very friendly and easy to talk to. The units are a bit smaller than expected, but they’re still nice. Having a month-to-month rental option is a big advantage. He really liked this facility and says it’s a strong possibility for him.
