"Challenges with Care and Communication"
Here’s the review rewritten in 8th grade level American English: Talking with the staff here is really tough. When we first got here, they were changing a lot of their team around. But they didn’t tell us they didn’t have a Physical Therapist. So, my family member lost all the good she did at her last rehab place after her stroke. Some nurses were super kind and great, but others didn’t treat older people right. They didn’t show them the respect they deserve. Moving in was simple, and they had a cart to help with our stuff. But even though our family member needed special care for her memory, they said she was fine without it. Turns out, she really did need that Memory Care. The Memory Care at Ivy Springs is for really serious cases, and it was too much for her. She got really upset and scared after just a few days. In the end, this place wasn’t right for us, and we had to find a new home that fit her needs better. The main reasons we left were: The Memory Care was too intense and scary. They didn’t talk to us right or tell us the truth. Some nurses weren’t nice. They didn’t have help for getting better with moving and walking. My family member got worse instead of better.

"Good value with average service."
It's nice for the price. Remodeled rooms are well-done, and service is average.

"Diabetic Diet Not Supported"
My family member requires a diabetic diet, but unfortunately, they don't accommodate it here.

"Caring Staff, But Limited Activities and Poor Meals"
Our family member tells us that the meals aren’t tasty, and because of COVID, they’re getting their food brought to their rooms. The only fun thing they’ve had is bingo. We’re aware that some caregivers are really kind to our family member. The women working at the main desk are great—they always respond to our questions and give our family member a hand.

"Poor Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
Before the management change, it was great. But after the change, communication became terrible, and they don't return phone calls. We had an incident where my mom called about an issue, but when we tried the emergency line, no one answered. We drove there, but still no response. Their excuse? A phone issue. I wouldn't recommend this facility.

"Assisted Living Near Home with Personal Attention and Management Changes"
We chose The Retreat at Buford because it's close to my home, allowing frequent visits to my dad. The smaller size was less overwhelming, providing great 1-on-1 attention. While management changes affected our experience, they took excellent care of him, though more encouragement to participate would be beneficial. I recommend the facility.

"Dimly lit but clean friendly staff; large for some."
During our visit, the place seemed a bit dark inside. The hallways didn’t have much light. It looked clean, and the folks I met were friendly. It's a bit bigger than what my family member prefers.

"Excellent care for my husband; staff, food, activities exceptional. Highly recommend!"
My husband's care at this place is really good. The people who work here are great, and the food is really good, with lots of different things to choose from. They also give him a lot of things to do. The place is always clean and nice. We would tell other families to come here because they take good care of people and it's worth it.

"I Would Recommend Ivy Springs Manor!!!!"
Mom doesn't seem to like the food, but I think it's okay. The staff is very helpful and informative, and their technology is up to date. They inform us through emails, which I like. They offer a variety of activities and outings for residents. The community is clean and well-maintained.

"Seemed like a welcoming spot"
I visited this community while exploring care options for a family member. The place was clean, and the staff were friendly and professional. However, the available room wouldn’t have suited my loved one due to its distance from the dining area and common spaces.

"Uncertain Feelings About Care at Ivy Springs"
I'm torn about our experience at Ivy Springs. My husband took a tumble just days after arriving and no one noticed. His blood thinning medicine was also messed up. (They've since let go of the person in charge of his meds, I've heard.) Not long after his fall, he died - the medical report indicated a brain bleed, probably a delayed effect of his fall. I realize it's a good fit for some, but unfortunately our experience was pretty rough. Can't say it's entirely the facility's fault, but maybe they could've kept a closer watch on him. I'm not sure.

"Caring and Wonderful Staff"
It’s a bit expensive, but the service is great and the staff really care about the residents. They call the residents by name, hug them, and show respect and love. My mom is safe, and I’m thrilled that we found Ivy Springs with the help of "A Place for Mom."

"Disappointed by lack of brain-boosting food at Ivy Springs"
For 60 grand a year, they should be serving brain-supporting food to the residents. I'd expect from a new place like this that they'd be up to speed, or at least have researched enough to know that the food they give the folks here should help their brains stay healthy. If we went with Ivy Springs Manor, it looks like I'd end up having to bring my mother-in-law most of her grub. That's quite a bit of extra work when you're already shelling out so much cash. It's a letdown, because everything else about this place seemed great.

"Highly Recommend Ivy Springs"
When we started looking for a safe and caring place for our mom, we were really happy to find Ivy Springs. the Executive Director, made the tough transition smooth and quickly got to know our mom. She handled all the issues I had with professionalism and kindness. We were welcomed like family. Everyone, from the staff to the caregivers, is so gentle and patient with mom. They put her needs first and care about her happiness. Mom has several medical problems and the nurses have handled them very professionally. I would recommend Ivy Springs to anyone whose loved ones need extra care.

"Feels like home, even when home isn’t an option"
My mother has been at Ivy Springs Manor for over two years now, and it’s a wonderful place. It’s always clean and welcoming. The food is delicious (I’ve joined her for meals a few times), and everyone is so friendly. My mom loves the outings they organize, and they have parties often, where the staff really seems to enjoy themselves, too. They all genuinely seem happy with their jobs. It’s also great to see all the families involved with the residents—family involvement really matters. Since she can’t live at home, this is truly the next best place!

"Ivy Springs Manor is a true blessing!"
Ivy Springs Manor has been a true blessing for me and my family. Since moving my father there less than a year ago, I've noticed such a positive change in his happiness and attitude. He has Alzheimer’s and lives in the memory care unit, and he’s now much calmer and more peaceful. The staff is warm and caring, and they really take the time to know each resident. His previous facility had staff who seemed stressed, unhappy, and overworked. But at Ivy Springs, the caregivers seem cheerful, supportive, and regularly check in with me about my father’s needs or share positive updates about him. I can’t say enough good things about the wonderful staff and the peace it brings me knowing he’s safe and well cared for.

"Clean but disappointing food okay overall."
It's okay. They make sure it's really clean. My grandma doesn't like the food, which is probably the biggest problem. The three meals a day cooked by chefs are a big letdown.

"Care quality prompted move to different facility"
My family member stayed here a while. The folks were kind and the building was decent, but the care wasn't up to our standards. We shifted my family member to a different place where they are getting better care.

"Friendly staff in a cozy community"
We visited this place while exploring care options for a family member. We really liked the vibe here. The community looked nice, and the staff were very friendly and professional. It had a warm, inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately, it was a bit too far for us to consider, but it’s definitely worth checking out!

"Outstanding facility. One year old, great staff, and activities!"
This place is great! It’s only a year old, and the staff and activities are really good. The studio might be a bit small for transitioning, but the dining area is nice, and there’s a small outdoor walking space. Definitely on the short list.

"Convenient location, friendly staff, and beautiful landscaping"
Ivy Springs Manor is in a great spot for me, right between home and work. The area can get busy because of nearby malls and restaurants. The staff is super friendly, the place is really clean, and the landscaping is beautiful.

"Ivy Springs is a great choice for families!"
Ivy Springs is amazing! Their friendliness, care services, and activities are all top-notch. We chose this place because it’s easy for our whole family to visit, and we toured it several times before making our decision. I met with the Executive Director and the head of my mom’s floor, and I was really impressed. I’ve also met most of the caregivers who work with my mom, and I get emails from them with updates. We visit almost every day. Mom has been able to join some field trips, and she’s getting a healthier diet now. I’m very happy and have no complaints at all. I would recommend Ivy Springs without any hesitation!

This was my second choice. It is very nice and friendly, with lots of staff. The rooms are well-appointed. My only complaint was the elevator; dining is on the first floor and activities are on the second.

"Beautiful facility like a resort. Great technology too!"
This place is beautiful, just like a resort! The rooms are a nice size, and there's a lovely courtyard. The technology is great, with computers in all the assisted living rooms and 'simple C' in the memory rooms.
