Merrill Gardens at Woodstock

" "Unless You're Wealthy, Beware of Merrill Gardens""
Unless you're loaded with cash, be careful with Merrill Gardens. Things look great initially, but they don't fulfill promises and suddenly increase your bill without warning or explanation. It's been a painful seven months. Since my mom started living there, she's had seven hospital visits, compared to no hospitalizations in the last two years. My sister and I, her primary caregivers, are suffering physically and financially. ATM, I'm in the ICU with a shocking bill of $- way more than the regular they used to charge. So unless you're up for spending huge amounts of money and getting fooled, I recommend steering clear of Merrill Gardens.

"Friendly and Helpful Staff Enhance Merrill Gardens at Woodstock"
Our family really likes Merrill Gardens at Woodstock because of the staff. They are super friendly and always ready to help. From our experience, we would definitely tell others about this place.

"Nice Facility, Poor Care Services"
The facility is very nice, but the care services were completely lacking. On the first day our loved one moved in, no one came to her room until the afternoon, and that was only after she pressed the help call button. We told them she needed help with her medication, but they thought she could do it on her own. This caused her to run out of medicine way too quickly. The place is very nice and the people are nice, but the care was non-existent.

"Nice Facility, But Too Big for Comfort"
Our family went to see the place in person. We couldn’t explore the whole area because there were rules we had to follow. We did get to look at some example rooms, and they were pretty good. The building looks great, but it’s really big. We think it might be too much for our family member to handle.

"Review: Systemic Racism Prevalent at Assisted Living Facility"
I discovered this assisted living facility to be full of discriminatory individuals, from the nurse to all the Caucasian employees. They treat you unfairly simply because of your skin color. The head doctor acts like a puppet without any real influence over what happens. My claims are supported by personal experience and similar complaints made by my coworkers about the same discriminatory actions.

"Really Bad Care and High Costs at This Facility"
This place doesn't give good care at all. They often forget or are late in doing things like bringing you to meals, giving your medicine, or helping with doctor visits. A lot of the staff aren't nice. The part of the place where they care for people with memory problems is really bad. It costs a lot more than other places that are just like it. There are a lot of mistakes on the bills. The food doesn't taste as good as it used to.

"Expensive and Unsafe: Not The Ideal Home for Seniors"
This place isn't assisted living. It's just pricey apartments for the elderly. The care provided is quite terrible. The upper-level staff don't even care to address concerns and can be pretty mean too. They can't even manage medications properly, which is very unsafe. And the cost? Well, it's too much!

Our tour of Merrill Gardens was wonderful! Even my dad, who’s not completely on board, was impressed. Before the staff came to show us around, a resident stopped by to chat and told us how much she loves the people and the atmosphere here. My parents were really impressed by the friendly residents and the spacious community areas, like the inviting exercise room, open sitting areas, and the bright, open spaces. We looked at both one- and two-bedroom apartments and liked them both. The one-year-old building has nice details like textured hallway walls, warm colors, non-slip floors in the kitchen and bathroom, high ceilings, and even a locking kitchen drawer, maybe for medicine. Our guide knew residents and even a few pets by name, showing us she truly cares and understands this big decision. The relaxed atmosphere and no-pressure tour made us feel at home. Merrill Gardens has a warmth that sells itself. When my parents are ready to move, I really hope it’s here.

"Clean and New Facility with Friendly Staff, Not Ideal for Us"
I checked out this place for my parents. It's pretty new and clean, which I liked. The building looked nice, and it seemed well-kept. The person who showed me around was friendly. But it didn't have what we wanted. I was hoping for cottages so they could have their own space and be independent. Other families might want to check it out though.

"Loved the Community, but the Testing was Odd"
Merrill Gardens at Woodstock was a wonderful place. We were happy that she could bring her dog to live with her. Another thing we liked was that the cafeteria was open for 12 hours a day. We really liked this community. She had to be evaluated and take a test. I showed some of the test questions to others, and even they found them hard to answer.

"Great Facility but Not Ideal for Elderly Requiring Assistance"
Nice place, but it's not suitable for seniors needing assistance. It's like stepping into a fancy, new hotel. My mom would've had to live on the third floor. In case of any emergency, she would've been required to use the steps. But, my mom has Parkinson's and can't do that. The person in charge who we talked to was super nice, though.
