The staff here are really friendly and care about the residents. The food is a bit better than average. The place is beautiful inside.

"Friendly Staff, But Needs Better Care and Menu Variety"
The staff here is very friendly. But the care isn't what I expected, probably because they don't have enough workers. They've had new owners, but they should have fixed the problems by now. The meals are a big issue, especially for my mom. The menu is always the same: chicken, ham and cheese sandwiches, a salad, some cake. I never see things like pizza, spaghetti, hotdogs, coleslaw, hamburgers, french fries, or fresh fruit. But the staff is very friendly.

Our family visited Northstar Square in person, but we realized it wasn't the right place for our loved one. The community looked old and dirty.

"Mixed Results at Assisted Living Facility"
They’ve had many staff changes in leadership and haven’t been great at communicating. The new management has been very responsive so far. However, there aren’t enough activities happening, but that’s supposed to change soon.

"Inefficiency and Mistakes Lead to Frustration with Assisted Living Facility"
I'm not sure where to begin. About five months ago, we moved my mom into this facility, and she was doing mostly okay. The Executive Director was the most inefficient individual I've ever met. She called me five times after my mom moved in, asking if we chose Northstar already. I requested monthly statements, but none arrived. A month ago, they called me asking when I was going to settle the outstanding $15,000+ bill for previous months. I told them I had paid and even sent them copies of bank transaction records to prove it. Then I got nothing until Friday night, late at around 6:30 p.m. when I received an email, demanding check numbers for the payments, or they would send my info to collections. They misplaced the payments and now they're risking my credit score? Over the weekend, they finally sent me a statement only to show a ridiculous $19,000+ balance. To say I'm livid would be an understatement. The nursing staff is exceptional, but the administrative team gets a failing grade. I wholeheartedly do not recommend this place. No one needs this kind of stress.

"Irresponsible Care at Assisted Living: Failed Expectations and Neglected Duties"
Don't even consider sending your pet here. We placed our mom inside for a month-long break, and we took her back home after just a week because they didn't fulfill our requests or live up to our expectations according to the amount we paid. All the residents did nothing but watch TV all day. There were no fun activities. Our mom fell twice, and no one could explain how it happened. Before she moved in, we noted down all her medicines. When we removed her, we discovered that she only got her medicines for about 3-4 days. The only medicine she consistently received was her sleep aid. She was supposed to take 3 painkillers each day, but she got only 4 in a week. We provided enough Tylenol for 6 each day, but she only got 10 in a week. Apart from a few kind staff members, it felt like they truly didn't care. Moreover, they're seriously short on staff.

"Facility Prefers Profits Over Resident Wellbeing"
They attempted to siphon off my dad's funds. Just before he was supposed to move in, his doctors advised us against it due to his wellness issues. However, they held onto his money until very recently. I feel like they're more focused on profits rather than the real wellbeing of their residents. I wouldn't suggest them to anyone on the search.

"Assisted Living with Great Cleanliness and Care, Improved Communication Needed"
The community here is really clean, and they take good care of us. The activities are a bit limited because of the rules, but we feel like we get a lot for what we pay. The only thing that's not so great is the communication—it's sometimes hard to reach someone. We know COVID has made things tricky, but sometimes our calls don't go through or they hang up. Still, overall, we've had really great experiences. The staff always help us whenever we need them.

"Mixed Communication Experience at Northstar Place"
We picked Northstar Place because it was affordable and allowed a semi-private room, especially during COVID. But, they struggled with keeping us informed. Getting ahold of them was tough sometimes, and they didn’t follow up on our worries. If you want clear communication and answers, think twice about Northstar Place.
