"Care Facility Refuses Refund; Unhelpful Staff, Needed Outside Intervention"
My mom never actually arrived at the assisted living facility as she had to be hospitalized and lost her ability to live on her own. Despite this, the facility would not give a refund. I had to reach out to the Better Business Bureau to get our money back. Without their help, we wouldn't have received a refund. So, I wouldn't recommend this place. The staff isn't what they seem.

"Balancing Strengths and Weaknesses in Assisted Living"
They helped with his unique needs, better than most places. Not the best, but far from the worst. Staff lacks attention.

"Weighing Pros and Cons at The Landings at Norcross"
I think the medical care issue is serious at The Landings at Norcross. It feels like they're just warehousing seniors. Many older folks don't have a close family advocate. In the Memory Care section, the good parts are general cleanliness, safety, and a nourishing menu. The rooms are comfortable. But there's a downside: the staff is contracted, and there's no continuity of care because new staff leave every week. Their excuse? 'I'm new and didn't find any notes!' Several times, they let [name removed]'s meds run out without telling me. Thankfully, I had an agreement to order his meds from VAMC Atlanta and deliver them myself. I shudder to think of the possible outcome if I hadn't been so involved in his care. Once he was out of Propranolol for 4 days! After a year with no improvement, we decided it was time to move. We'll be searching in the Franklin/Bryson City, NC area for a better solution. Our experience was only with the Memory Care section. The non-medical staff and facility management were very nice and always helpful. But Leonard was supposed to get 2 supervised baths weekly and daily hygiene coaching—like brushing teeth—and that was nonexistent. We won't be re-admitting there!

"Double-check medication orders for proper care."
Make sure your family gets proper care! Be cautious about their well-being. I'd advise friends to double-check medication orders because my loved one didn't receive theirs correctly.

"Great Care for My Daddy"
It was a great place. Daddy was well taken care of and he loved the staff. Sharon, the administrator, was awesome with the residents. Daddy loved her and the staff at the front desk was awesome too. There was a problem once or twice with one of the staff, but it was quickly fixed. I was proud that my Daddy was there.

"Bright, Welcoming, and Inviting Assisted Living Facility"
The Landings at Norcross really stood out because it looks bright and airy. When you walk in, it feels friendly and warm. The front desk staff and the marketing director were very welcoming. The place doesn't look like an institution at all; it feels inviting. The food menu has a lot of carbs, and we've talked to the director about it. I understand it's not easy to change. I would recommend this place to others.

"Mixed Assisted Living and Memory Care at The Landing"
We visited The Landing, and it was really nice. They had a courtyard, which was great. The only issue for us was that it combined assisted living and memory care. The staff had to switch between different levels of care, and we preferred a place solely focused on memory care.

"Assisted Living Layouts Disappoint Despite Great Tour"
The Landings folks showed us around nicely, which was cool, but the rooms in assisted living weren't as comfy as we hoped.

"Assisted Living Disappointment: Misleading Tour and Inexperienced Staff"
This place didn't live up to what they promised during the tour. It feels like they showed us one thing but gave us something else once we moved in. When things got tough, they couldn't handle my family member and had to call for help. It seems like they have trouble keeping experienced staff, and the new ones don't seem to know what they're doing. The memory care unit is alright, but they're not great at dealing with Alzheimer's.

"Positive Tour Experience"
Our chats were pretty basic, but the tour they gave was really nice. The rooms looked great, and I left feeling positive.

"Studio Apartments May Pose Transition Challenge for New Residents"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person. The community seemed nice overall. However, they mostly had studio-sized apartments available. We were concerned about this because our loved one is used to living in a house. Transitioning from a spacious house to a smaller studio apartment could be difficult for them.

"Poor Emergency Response and Unprofessionalism Lead to Assisted Living Eviction"
My mom only lived at The Landings at Norcross for two months. In that time, there were many problems, but the one that stood out was the emergency call light. Either it didn't work, it rang in a wrong room, caregivers did not answer it, or they took too long to respond, sometimes more than an hour. I reached out to the Bridge Senior Living management company and even filed complaints with my Ombudsman and HFR, hoping they would step in and get things sorted. Weirdly, not long after the HFR Compliance Specialist contacted the Executive Director, I was told we had 30 days to leave because they couldn't meet MY needs, not my mom's. The ED didn't even give me the notice in writing. We've since left The Landings. It's an unprofessional place that doesn't uphold their commitments and would rather turn residents away than fix problems. Plus, it smells awful.

"Quality Care and Pleasant Environment for Elderly Loved Ones"
I'm pleased with how they take care of my dad. The staff are friendly and attentive to his needs. The food seems good, but it would be helpful if they posted the weekly menu. The place is nice, but they should improve on housekeeping. It's a small community. They organize small trips outside, which he enjoys. He's happy they have a pet here. We'd recommend this place for families seeking good care and value.

"This community is for total memory care."
Dad is still getting used to living at this community. My biggest worry is that we don't communicate well with the nursing staff. They take good care of Dad and offer lots of activities. The place is clean and well-maintained. If your loved one is ready for this type of setting, it's a great place. However, I don't think the staff can handle residents who aren't compliant and are struggling to adjust.

"A Caring Community with Great Staff"
My dad's still getting used to this place, but it's going pretty smoothly. I'm happy with what they've done for us. The staff here is awesome, they really care. They make sure everything's tidy and clean. It's a nice place with friendly folks. They're taking good care of him here. I totally suggest this place.

"Friendly Staff in a Close-Knit Setting, Some Concerns"
This place feels very friendly and warm. They have lots of attentive staff members taking care of the residents, which is good because there aren't a ton of residents so everyone knows each other pretty well. The caretakers all know the residents and what they need. But, there's a bit of a problem with staff not being there all day every day. Things can get a bit confusing during the switch from day to night and on weekends. Plus, I'm worried that even though we signed up for one price, it might get more expensive the longer we stay.

"Avoid This Place: Families Are At High Risk"
The owner of this facility has no understanding of assisted living. There's no obvious sign of professional management here. It's unsafe for family members who have been put in their care. Bolt from this place now.

"Improvements in New Management: A Friendly, Accessible Assisted Living Facility"
This place has been pretty good so far. I haven't visited since it changed owners, but the old and new staff have all been super nice. They're easy to reach if you have questions or problems. Before, there weren't many activities and the food wasn't great. But my loved one says things are better now with the new management.

This place is great for day care and respite care. It's close to home and has a small community. While it's not a memory care facility, everything is safe and enclosed.

"Morning Starr Excels in Engaging Activities and Personalized Care"
My mom stayed in a pretty nice place before, but it was too small to keep her busy and happy. I wanted a place where she could do stuff and meet people. Morning Starr is just that. They have lots of activities, and my mom gets to socialize. Even though it's bigger than her old place, they still take good care of her. The guy who runs it, Joel Addison, was super helpful and easy to reach when I had questions.

"Morning-Starr is excellent—helpful staff and highly recommended!"
I only have good things to say about Morning-Starr at Holcomb Bridge. They were very helpful and kind, going above and beyond to find a place for my brother. The staff has been wonderful to our family. I highly recommend it.
