"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Staffing and Training"
This place is okay if you don't need much help. But if you're sick or have Alzheimer's, don't come here. The workers aren't trained and there aren't enough of them. Plus, it's too expensive.

"Mixed Experience with Friendly Staff but Slow Response and Issues"
Most of the nurses and kitchen staff were friendly. When my loved one didn't feel well and couldn't go to the dining room, her food was really late getting to her room. It was rarely what she ordered. She doesn’t eat red meat, but they usually brought meat. The meals were not very healthy and lacked variety. My loved one fell on her first day there. My sister pulled her nurse cord, and it took an hour for the nurse to come. This happened several times. Pull the nurse cord, and it takes a while for the nurse to respond, especially at night. We complained to the Director but didn’t hear any apology. One time, the batteries in the pull cord weren't working. Her room was supposed to be cleaned once a week, but sometimes that didn’t happen. Her laundry was messed up, and no one apologized. They washed all her clothes together, and her jeans turned all her white clothes blue and ruined them.

""Terrible Care and Unfriendly Staff at The Phoenix""
My overall experience at The Phoenix was simply awful. My beloved wife passed away a while ago, and though I can't say The Phoenix directly caused this, they certainly didn't help. The place was pretty clean, so I'll give them that much. However, the staff's unfriendliness was nearly unbearable. They were dishonest and showed little to no empathy towards the residents. The overall care was subpar. I could see a clear lack of training and motivation among them. Their meals and dining service were acceptable, nothing great but not awful either. They had activities, but there was such a low level of participation that it's hard for me to judge. The building itself was quite impressive, but the level of care provided inside was just plain terrible. We couldn't handle it anymore, so after 6 weeks, we decided to leave. I would advise anyone considering this place to think twice.

"Great activities and caring staff; watch temp. staff training."
This assisted living facility offers plenty of activities for residents, and they involve families, which is nice. The caregivers are really great and show a lot of care for the clients. The only concern is when temporary staff fill in because they're not as well trained. That's when we need to pay extra attention to make sure our mother is properly cared for.

"Disappointing Leadership Mars Memory Care Facility."
I've been in the business world for a long time - over 20 years - so I know that successful businesses need good culture, communication and teamwork. That seems even more important when the business involves caring for vulnerable people, like those with memory problems. That's why it really upsets me how badly the folks running Phoenix of James Creek have messed up. We've had to deal with repeated mistakes, lies, and excuses instead of responsibility, honesty, and good communication. Good leaders might be hard to find, but for our family members, we need them. I can't recommend this place right now. Maybe in the future, if things get better.

"Friendly Staff, But Food and Care Need Improvement"
The employees are friendly, but the food and care can be disappointing at times. The food needs to be better, with no long waits, and they should listen to what the residents want. Sometimes, the caregivers didn't listen to my mother's wishes.

"Modern features but sometimes understaffed, leading to cold meals"
We really like the modern features of this place, which is a big plus. However, it seems like they don't have enough staff sometimes, so the food quality isn't that great. The meals are served cold, and the dining service is often slow. Based on our experience with The Phoenix at James Creek, we would recommend this community to other families.

"Friendly environment with integrated care"
We chose The Phoenix because they mix memory care residents with assisted living residents for activities, so our loved one has made friends outside of memory care. It's a great way to blend everyone, and the place is very friendly. You can tell the workers really care about all the residents and are very attentive to their needs. They don't just hang around in groups. They don't pressure residents to join activities, but our loved one needed a routine, and they provide that for her. Every time we visit, she seems happy with the meals. She enjoys playing bingo. Every Monday afternoon, they take residents on a sightseeing trip and might stop at McDonald's for ice cream or another place for cookies. They recently had an Easter egg hunt, and they bring communion to our loved one. They also have a full kitchen for cooking demos and a pub for happy hours.

"Assisted Living Frustration: Staff Neglect, Delayed Refund, Poor Communication"
I didn't like some of the workers at this place. They let my family member stay with a dirty diaper until we told them. They still owe money, and it's been 2 and a half months without a response.

"Great Care, But Response Times Could Improve"
The response time to needs isn’t as quick as we thought it would be. We were told 3-5 minutes, but it’s often much longer for different reasons. However, the care is good. The staff are very responsive to families with concerns. They try hard to get everyone involved in activities. Even with Covid restrictions, they do their best to encourage participation. I feel like we’re getting our money’s worth overall, except for the response times. I understand staffing is a challenge everywhere right now. I would definitely recommend The Phoenix. Just make sure your loved one doesn’t expect constant one-on-one service like they might have had at home.

"Negligent Covid precautions and resident treatment at “luxury” facility"
Residents here are treated like they don't matter. Residents are confined in their rooms for their "safety" during the pandemic without anyone checking up on them or regarding their mental well-being. It is clear that the staff is exposuing the residents to Covid as the residents are not allowed to leave or have visitors, and yet, some are still testing positive for Covid. The testing for Covid is not trustworthy as our mom was tested "negative" at this place, but when she was taken to the hospital for dehydration and confusion, she tested positive for Covid. When we collected our mom's stuff, the staff told us they had been taking notes about our mom's condition and no one cared or contacted us. Be careful of this "luxury" place.
