"Staffing Problems at Canterfield Assisted Living Need Attention"
I think the place has been short on workers for a few weeks. A Place for Mom said The Villas at Canterfield was really good. They need to get better.

"[Nice place, poor follow-up and communication"
We toured The Villas at Canterfield. The place was nice, and the amenities and activities were a big plus. But honestly, they didn't seem to care if we chose to stay there or not. They never followed up after our visits and were very slow to respond to phone calls.

"Great Meals, Some Communication Issues"
The best thing about The Villas is the meals and dining service; it's amazing. We think they could communicate better, and we wish their bus transportation was more flexible. Even so, we would still recommend this community to other families.

"Peaceful Setting with Caring Staff"
We had a great visit at Villas of Canterfield. The staff were really nice. They were very personal and patiently answered all our questions. I didn't feel pressured at all. The facility was in a quiet, more rural area, and most of the residents were older. It just depends on what you prefer. But overall, I thought they did a great job running the place.

"Not the right fit, but helpful staff"
This community was okay, but I wasn't very impressed. They gave me information and answered my questions, but it just wasn't the right place for my loved one.

"Assisted Living Needs More Activities and Lower Costs"
This place had many friendly folks, and Mom found pals. But it got too pricey with lots of extra charges. We expected more fun stuff for the money.

"Mom loves it here, highly recommend!"
We picked The Villas at Canterfield because my mom's friend already lived here. The apartment size depends on your furniture. We got furniture that fits well, so it feels roomy. They still have some COVID rules, like taking your temperature and wearing masks. My mom loves it here, and we would definitely recommend it to others.

"Mixed Feelings About The Villas Assisted Living Facility"
During our COVID tour, we couldn't see everything at The Villas. They keep assisted living and independent living separate. It was our second choice, despite feeling outdated and dimmer than others. The food impressed us, though a friend's bad experience gave us pause.

"Comfortable place but needs better food and more activities"
Before COVID, they had fun activities like bingo and outings. During COVID, they kept residents in their rooms and didn't really do much with them. The food is okay, but sometimes it's not very healthy. There weren't many fresh vegetables, and the food had a lot of carbs. The rooms are very nice, and the whole place looks good. We liked how the rooms were set up and the decor. It felt comfortable.

"Great care, loving staff, and a beautiful facility!"
My 91-year-old mother has been at The Villas At Canterfield for over 6 weeks in their memory care unit. I think it’s a great care home. She’s adjusting well and gets very loving care from the staff. She even says they treat her like a queen. They serve good meals, have snacks, and many activities. There are always staff members around to keep a close watch on the residents. The facility is beautiful and well-run. We highly recommend it for anyone needing personal care.

"Neglect and Mismanagement Rampant at this Assisted Living Facility"
Seek another place for your loved one. Since my loved one has been at this place, there have been too many injuries and hospital trips due to neglect. Particularly, the staff's inadequate training resulted in two hospital visits following day trips due to a lack of care and oversight, as well as not enough employees to accompany the seniors. Besides, I constantly have to ask them to clean his room. It's always hard to get the new employees familiar with my parent's needs because there's a high staff turnover. My loved one's money was taken a few times, but the center made no efforts to pay it back. There aren't also enough activities to engage the seniors. In short, this center needs better organization and more staff.

I really enjoy living in this community. The staff is amazing and always friendly to my needs. They have a nice menu, but I love that I can cook for myself if I want. There's always something to do here to keep me active. I would definitely recommend this place for its great care and value. It's a very nice place to call home!

"Great Community, Just Not Convenient for Us"
My visit to this community was great. Everyone was really friendly. The place looked well-kept and very clean. The only issue was the location; it wasn’t easy for us to get to. The staff was kind and helpful. This is a really nice community.

"Wonderful Tour Experience"
I took a very special lady to tour the Villas at Canterfield in Cumming, GA. We didn't have an appointment but were greeted like royalty. She started the tour, showing us the beautiful dining room with tablecloths and flowers, and a private dining area if needed. There's even a bar area. The workout room has people to guide you, and right off it is a saltwater pool. We met some of Grandma's future friends. She showed us several room styles. Each floor has a gathering area to visit with family or friends, watch TV, or play cards. They made sure we met several people. The rooms are beautiful, with plenty of closet space, a kitchen, washer and dryer, and a patio. I'm happy to say she moved in this week. This place is awesome. They've been so helpful. A Place For Mom worked with them, and they were the best. We couldn't go wrong. They even have a guest room you can rent. You need to check this gem out. It's the best home we looked at. The people are by far the greatest. They made moving day so much easier. Thank you and God Bless.

"Great Spot, But Bathroom Features Fall Short"
Really great place, but the shower space is really tight. Plus, they have those low toilets, not the tall ones for seniors like some other places. These issues are a no-go for us. Other than that, we liked it a lot.

Super nice, but $1000 more than other nearby facilities. Worth a little more, but not for those on a limited income. Don’t know about the actual care provided.

"The Villas: Ideal Site for Over-sedating Your Parent"
The Villas might seem like an ideal place for my Mom on paper. We were ready to move her in till they wanted her checked in a psych ward for the elderly. They believed she was wandering around due to a urinary tract infection. The nurse even tagged my Mom as rowdy and argumentative just for showing her annoyance at being asked the same stuff over and over again. The doctor they picked for us sent Mom to the local hospital. Rather than treating her for dementia, they gave Mom too much of a tranquilizer. Mom went from being active and outspoken to dozing off in her chair. I think the Villas simply want passive, compliant seniors.

"Memory Unit's Care Drop Despite Low Prices"
In the beginning, the workers here were wonderful and really focused on care. However, after about a year and a few changes in personnel, I've noticed that they aren't as detailed in their care anymore. My dad stays in the memory unit and most times, his bathroom isn't kept clean. On the plus side, they do have some of the best price rates. I really wish they would improve the care they provide.

"Fantastic care and welcoming environment for Dad!"
We had to move my dad from Florida to assisted living in Georgia on very short notice. He went from living on his own to being wheelchair-bound in just a few weeks. This was all new to us, and we found "A Place for Mom." Donna Sharpe was amazing! She helped us with a lot of information and spent time on the phone with my wife and me. She also set my wife up with several tours while I took care of my dad. My wife narrowed it down to three places after touring almost a dozen, and when I returned, we toured them together. The Villas at Canterfield was clearly the best choice. Lisa Swafford at the Villas was very friendly and helpful. She gave us a great tour and answered all my questions. The cost, with a current discount, was better than most other places. A big factor was what was included. Laundry is included, which was $55/month elsewhere. DirecTV Premier is $20 ($10 more for DVR) at the Villas, while basic cable was $45 elsewhere with no DVR. Phone service is $20 at the Villas and $55 at other places. They provide a small fridge, microwave, and chest of drawers, which other places didn’t offer. Most importantly, the medication service is included at a higher level of care, while other places charge $265/month for this service. When looking for assisted living, ask all the questions! Many places seem cheaper, but hidden costs can add up. I know exactly what our costs are each month, so we’re not surprised by extra fees. When we arrived with my dad, the staff welcomed him with a sign and a big greeting. They made him feel at home right away. He had some rough emotions and homesickness at first, but everyone helped cheer him up and engaged him in activities. Carrie in Activities took extra time to introduce herself and talk to him about his past career in news photography. She gave him opportunities to use his skills for their monthly newsletter and share his stories with other residents. The staff checks on him every two hours and asks if he needs anything. They go out of their way to make him comfortable and happy. He is receiving physical therapy on-site, and they motivate him to do things on his own to get better. When he had a rough day with a lot of pain, they cut the therapy short and gave him a massage to relieve some of it. When my family or I visit, they greet us by name and tell us how my dad is doing. They always talk to him when we take him out and are extremely friendly and helpful. This has been a very emotional and stressful time for us, and the Villas at Canterfield staff have made it much easier for us, giving my dad a place he can truly call home.

"Top-notch Assisted Living with Great Value and Friendly Staff"
My folks stay at The Villas at Canterfield, one in memory care and one in assisted living. They beat other places we looked at. It's super clean, and the staff is super nice. One thing they could do better is communication, especially in memory care. I'd like to know more about what's happening all the time.

"Mixed Feelings on The Villas at Canterfield Assisted Living"
The new place was really nice to look at, very fancy. The gardens outside were pretty, and it's not too far from where we live, just 10 miles away. The people who work there were nice. But, it felt like it might be better suited for younger folks than my parents. The apartment was in a good spot, super clean, and had lots of space. However, after reading some negative things online, I decided not to move my parents there.

"Disappointing No-Show & Lacklustre Assistance at the Villas"
I'd set up a meeting for 5pm on July 1st, Tuesday. I was there by 4:45pm. The receptionist didn't know about my appointment but she got in touch with Lisa Swafford. Turns out, Lisa was gone and Amber wasn't sure when she'd return. She gave me a packet of info and took my phone numbers, promising Lisa would call me early the next day. It's 1:15pm today and I haven't heard from Lisa or anyone else at the Villas. The place looks nice. I wasn't all that impressed with the menu, unless there's a bigger always-available list. There's also a bunch of construction happening. I'll check the pamphlet tonight. I'm rating 2 stars because I haven't really seen what the place has to offer since I didn't go on a tour.

"Excellent Care and Comfort!"
I'm so impressed with this assisted living facility! It's always spotless, the staff is super friendly, and the care is top-notch. My only suggestion was that they needed more activity options, but the activities director has really stepped up and made some great changes. The food is also amazing! They serve a main meal, plus smaller meals and snacks throughout the day.

"Satisfied Son!"
We were in the tough position of finding a new place for my mom and dad. My dad insisted on moving with mom. We called "A Place For Mom" and quickly had a few options to look at. The Villas At Canterfield is an outstanding facility. The staff, from administrators to caregivers, are fantastic. They even had a better room for them than their previous place. A very troubling situation was made so much easier thanks to "A Place For Mom" and The Villas At Canterfield!

My husband spent four months at the Villas before he passed away. Before that, he was at another facility, but we knew within two weeks we needed to find a better place. I am so grateful someone told me about the Villas. As soon as he moved in, I felt sure they would take great care of him. The caregivers were warm and thoughtful, always there to meet his needs. When he didn’t get up to eat, they made sure he received nourishment. After he went to the hospital, the rehab social worker said he needed a nursing home. I returned to the Villas and spoke with the director, Dusty Gunn. He assured me not to worry; they would take care of him. He came back on a Sunday afternoon and passed away the next day. During that time, the staff checked on him every hour, even though hospice was there, comforting him. It warmed my heart knowing my husband had so many people around him at the end, telling him how much they enjoyed knowing him and how special he was to them. Thank you to everyone at the Villas for taking such good care of my husband. I highly recommend the Villas of Canterfield.

"A Great Start at This Caring and Special Facility"
Even though we're new to this community, our start has been amazing. We can't thank the staff and Executive Director enough for their kindness and real care during the move to this lovely facility. The positive attitude of the staff says a lot about the place. We really appreciate everyone involved, especially the person who created this special spot in our great county. We're lucky to have found such a wonderful place for our mom.
