"Mixed Impressions"
The folks we met were friendly, and the place appeared tidy. However, it felt somewhat gloomy and less inviting than our chosen community.

"Assisted Living Center Goes Above Expectations for My Mother"
The Bickford has been better in many ways compared to my mother's previous community. They are still learning, but they try hard to solve problems and keep me informed. I appreciate their efforts and how well they take care of my mother.

"Warm Care in Small Memory Unit"
My mom moved into the 7-bed memory unit at Bickford Cottage in Muscatine, IA. The unit is nice, and the staff works hard to make it nice for the residents. They adjust well to each person's needs. My oldest brother and I liked how quickly they responded when we showed interest. I called on Sunday, and they evaluated Mom on Monday. She moved in on Wednesday. The best thing I see is how small the unit is. It's in the back of the building, but the entrance isn't great for visitors. Luckily, Dad can still walk well. Our last place had a covered drive-up entrance at the front for picking up or dropping off. Mom didn't feel like it was "her place" at first, but she quickly got used to it. She says she feels comfortable with how well the staff takes care of her.
