"Avoid this Elder Home: Poor Staff and Missing Items"

This place is the pits. If I could, I'd give it zero stars! I heard some of the workers making fun of an elderly resident. The food situation is really sad. I watched as they gave food to their staff first, and by the time they got to the seniors, they ran out of food. You think I'd recommend this place? No way, Jose! Don't bring anything precious if you decide to ignore this and go anyway. My mom's wedding ring vanished, and my dad's wallet is missing some cash too.

"Memory Care Unit Makes a Difference"

It's great, but they should explain room requirements before moving in. We chose it for the memory care unit.

"Terrible Staff Attitude and Poor Quality Food"

This place really lacks proper care and the workers there just have the worst attitude. The food is downright awful too. They seriously need a cook who can actually cook and provide better food choices.

"Incompetent Medical Care & Management at Assisted Living Facility"

Emergency Care Neglected at Assisted Living; Poor Training and Oversight!" Rewrite: When my relatives needed emergency medical care, I had to personally direct the staff to send them to the ER because their usual nurse was unavailable! As a nurse myself, it's clear to me that this woman doesn't take her job seriously. Upon arrival at the hospital, the medical staff wasn't surprised: "She's from Country Meadow Place? Figures." Unfortunately due to the pandemic, transferring to a different facility was difficult. Some of our other relatives (may they rest in peace) decided to stay solely to keep an eye on their friends, fearing they weren't receiving proper care. Whenever we've raised concerns, the manager dodges our complaints like a used car salesman! And get this, the guy has no healthcare training. Try asking when anyone there last completed mandatory Alzheimer’s training—Iowa law requires it within one year of employment. And don't bother asking about the medications they're administering—they don't have a clue. They once gave my family their morning meds at 1 pm, violating the Iowa two-hour window law for medication distribution. I strongly suggest looking for care in a different facility!

"Ignoring Health Needs; Staff Preoccupied with Social Media"

Absolutely do NOT put your loved ones here! I literally had to go on my knees, pleading with a nurse to get an order for a urine test. (Poor uncle! His urinary tract infection became so serious it turned septic.) Most of the staff is busy making fun videos in the corridors or bedrooms, with their protective masks sitting uselessly on their chins or off completely. The irony? One medicine manager told us that the medication grandpa used to balance his abnormal heart rhythm meant he required more fiber.

"Family Disappointed with Assisted Living’s Unchanged Issues"

A few staff members were okay. However, talking to the bosses about problems didn’t help; they sounded good but did nothing. The nurse would ring me after checking on my family member each month. Last time we talked, she didn’t hint at any trouble. But suddenly, in the middle of the month, something bad happened, and my family member was rushed to the hospital. Nobody from the place called to see how she was doing once she got there. That’s why we took her straight from the hospital to a new place.

"Assisted Living Concerns: Medications and Staff Attitude"

Think carefully before choosing this place or putting your parent here for medication. Some staff can be rude. Make sure to ask questions and get everything written down.

"Caring Staff and a Warm Environment for Mom"

Finding a place for Mom was really tough. She used to be super active, walking 2-4 miles every day. After her accident, she couldn’t keep up with her active lifestyle, which was hard for her to accept. We wanted her to be happy and social, just like before. The staff helped us settle her in and made sure she got to know them. They are truly amazing—loving, kind, and attentive to Mom’s needs and ours. They keep us updated with pictures of what she’s doing and always answer our emails.

"Country Meadow Place: A Caring Home for Your Loved Ones"

This past fall, my aunt had to move closer to us after living out of state for most of her life. It wasn’t an easy change for her. After checking out all our options, we picked Country Meadow Place. The staff is super caring and attentive, not just to the residents but also to the families going through the transition. I can’t say enough good things; the best part is that my aunt is happy and loves where she lives now. Thanks to everyone at Country Meadow Place for working so hard to make sure everyone is well taken care of!
