"Care Plan Neglect: Senior Star at Elmore Place Disappointing Experience"
We didn't have a good time at Senior Star at Elmore Place. The place was tidy, but the workers didn't stick to our family member's care plan, even after we told them our worries. Overall, we felt let down.

"Outdated Community"
Our family visited in person, and the tour was great. However, the community felt a bit outdated for our needs.

"A Thriving Community with Helpful Staff and Activities"
This place has been wonderful for my family member. Make sure to ask about what matters most to you and your loved one. Get answers from multiple people. My family member is doing really well here. The staff are helpful and great listeners. They provide one meal a day as part of the monthly fee, along with weekly housekeeping. Residents can enjoy exercise classes, water aerobics, yoga, wellness sessions, arts and crafts, and social events.

"Friendly Assisted Living with Helpful Staff and Activities"
We picked Senior Star because the doctor recommended it. When we visited, it was the facility he liked the most. The rooms are a bit small, but they have lots of activities. The staff helps my dad with Parkinson’s. We’d recommend them.

"Not Quite the Right Fit"
We visited Senior Star in person and thought it was nice. However, considering our loved one’s personality, we didn’t feel it would be a good match.

"Great experience with activities; would return if needed"
We didn’t have any problems during her stay here. Mom liked it and had a good time. The place seemed well-organized, and there were activities for residents to join, which she enjoyed. If she needs a place like this again, we’d likely come back to Senior Star. I’d suggest it to others looking for a similar facility.

"Grateful for the excellent care at Senior Star Elmore Place"
My father's move to Senior Star Elmore Place went perfectly! His apartment is on the first floor, with a great view, lots of light, and is quite spacious for a one-bedroom. It's also close to the nursing station, dining room, and entrance. The staff is very welcoming, caring, friendly, helpful, and attentive. They provide assisted living services like transportation, laundry, cleaning, and medical help professionally. The meals are delicious, nutritious, and varied, served three times a day by a well-trained dining staff who really care about each resident. My siblings and I are relieved that our 93-year-old father is getting the care he deserves. We're very thankful to the staff and community at Senior Star Elmore Place in Davenport, Iowa.

"Friendly Staff in Pleasant Community, But Not Single-Story"
The community was pleasant, well-kept, and had friendly staff. However, we preferred a single-story place.

"Not Really Worth Your Money"
Things have gone downhill with the leaders here. The fun stuff they have is just okay - you'd better enjoy cards and Bingo. My Mom really doesn't like the food, and I get it. It's all just warmed up, not freshly made. Doesn't seem like it's worth the cash.

"Don't Get Fooled By the Facade, Ask Questions!"
Be sure to look up facts and inquire thoroughly before deciding on this place. My dad had some unique circumstances that weren't addressed and pretty soon, it became clear that this wasn't the right fit for him. The place looks quite good on the outside, but don't let that trick you!

"Needs More Attentive Staff"
My cousin is doing well since moving into Senior Star. We're all happy with the community—it looks good and is well maintained. However, the staff could be more attentive to residents, and response time needs improvement. The residents here are great and helpful in showing my cousin around. Overall, we've had a positive experience and would recommend it.

"Friendly Atmosphere"
When you enter, the decorations look nice. The shared spaces and living areas are roomy. They keep the residents quite active. However, the food could be a bit better for such a well-decorated place. Overall, it's a friendly environment.

"Need a larger outdoor area"
I don't really know much about the activities. It would be great to have a bigger outdoor area during the summer.

"Mixed Feelings About Senior Star: Great Staff, Poor Food and Transport"
Senior Star makes a solid first impression, with its neat and fancy decorations. The team working there is top-notch. Specifically, my sister is always given a warm welcome by the front desk when she visits. In the independent living section, the activity director Courtney is first-rate. She continuously comes up with unique activities like games, exercises, parties, and crafting sessions to keep the residents engaged. They even have a pool, but the water's pretty chilly. One issue, though, is their transportation service. Though they offer it, it's pretty restrictive and has gathered quite a few complaints. There was an incident where a lady was left stranded because she was told the service wouldn't be able to bring her back. Nonetheless, the drivers are amazing and aren't to blame, they're just following orders. Apart from this, the food here could use some improvements. Both the taste and portions aren't up to par which isn't great for the elderly. Complaints about tough fish, tiny ribs, and hard-to-cut meat abound. It's pretty sad when residents leave the table with their stomachs still rumbling. I've heard these complaints from quite a few independent living residents. It should be noted that folks' appetites can vary and when they ask for seconds, they're often told there's nothing left. There is, however, an alternative menu which has options like tasty hamburgers and sandwiches. The desserts too are usually visually appealing. All in all, Senior Star could do better. I believe a lot of residents are fed up with the transport issues and the declining food quality and portions.

"Attentive Staff and Happy Parents"
They paid close attention to our concerns. The engineering staff was super helpful with small apartment fixes. Follow-up was excellent too. Our only gripe is that the pool had some issues, but overall, it's a great place, and my parents are thrilled.

"Top-notch Assistance and Delicious Meals"
This place is awesome! I love the food, especially the cookies! They always make sure I have clean clothes, and parking is no hassle. The staff is super helpful when you first arrive. The home evaluation they do is really useful. Moving here was easy and made things way better for me.

"Visited Senior Star: Impressive Facility, Pricey Hurdle"
Last Wednesday, I visited Senior Star. Their facility impressed me. Erica Schroeder was informative and accommodating, personally invested in the residents. It's a bit pricey, though—could be a hurdle.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
The place was nice but not cozy. It felt like a fancy hotel but too big. Mom preferred the independent living area; it had great activities, food, rooms, and decor. But when she needed temporary assistance, the staff seemed pushy to make it permanent. They were slow to fix issues in her room and didn’t seem eager to help us.
