"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
We chose this place because it's close and cozy. The staff is nice, and we feel secure. However, the food isn't great, and I don't think it's worth the money. I might suggest it to others.

"Great place, slow lunch service"
We picked Independence Village of Waukee because you can move to assisted living, long-term care, memory care, or recovery from surgery and still stay in the village. It's a great place to live! The only problem is lunch taking more than two hours. They need to hire more help.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Community"
I was a bit disappointed. The onboarding process needs improvement. The director seems clueless about what's happening. We chose this community because they have an on-site doctor, offer gradual care, and are conveniently located. The meals seem good. However, they should work on small things like leaving notes and indicating when things are fixed. Having a laundry schedule posted would also be helpful for residents. On the bright side, the staff is super friendly and treats residents kindly.

"Okay experience, great residents, some issues"
Our experience has been okay, and I would recommend them. The other residents are awesome. We've just had some issues getting things done and had to do a lot of follow-up.

"Great place with room for communication improvements"
I think they're really good overall and I would (and have) recommended them to others. But, like all places, they can improve. One thing they need to work on is their internal communication. For example, they still share activities, important contacts, and other info only on printed paper.

"Mom Settles into Assisted Living"
My mom lives in the assisted living facility. The staff is friendly, and she enjoys the daily activities they offer. They provide her with three meals a day, and she finds the food to be fair. The place is very clean, odor-free, and the courtyard is pleasant. I recommend this community.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Community"
A nice visit! All the staff were super friendly, and [Removed] was really open. The community idea would work for me, but there's no way for my dog to go outside from the unit. The walk to the outdoors is way too long for a dog's first morning walk.

"Was Not Close Enough"
If we could have moved this community closer, we’d have chosen it. Everything impressed us—the cleanliness, the well-kept appearance, and the helpful, professional staff. Unfortunately, the location didn’t match our search criteria.

"Satisfactory Assisted Living: Good Food, Activities, Needs Inventory Improvement"
This place is pretty good overall. Sometimes they run out of certain foods in the kitchen, but the meals are tasty. They take care of the residents well and there are activities to do every day. I think it's a place worth considering if you're looking for assisted living.

"Things Are Looking Up"
My family member has gotten better since coming here. The therapists are really good, and the staff is nice and supportive. The food seems to be liked, and they keep the place clean. I'd suggest this community.

"Nice tour, lacked transportation; friendly guide, pleasant environment."
I enjoyed touring The Village at Legacy Pointe. The person who showed us around was really nice and ready to assist. The place looked great, but I was disappointed that they didn't offer transportation, which was something I was worried about.

"Community for Care"
We visited this place for care. They have a movie area for families and residents, but it's not in the same building as the memory loss unit. Meals are delivered to the community. We didn't want him to share a room.

"In-Laws Thrive in This Community"
My in-laws are doing well since moving to this community. We feel they are safe and in a good place. The staff here is nice, kind, and easy to work with. Everything is going very well, and we’re pleased with their care. Overall, I recommend this community—it’s a nice place.

"Desperately Needing a Better Care Facility"
In this assisted living facility, it seems like residents are overly medicated just to make things easier for the personnel. Also, some of the nursing assistants project an unfavorable attitude that makes me worry about my family member's wellbeing.

"Too Big, Too Impersonal: Not the Right Fit for Mom"
During my tour of the assisted living facility, I didn't get a great feeling about it. The structure was too big for my liking. I had a hard time envisioning my mom, who is quite mobile, moving around easily. The building had multiple floors and I wasn't thrilled about the dining area. It took a bit before the lady came to guide me. I noticed the staff and didn't find the environment welcoming or friendly. It would have been more pleasant if the staff interacted with me in a friendly manner or even greeted me - they just looked uninterested in their jobs.

"No Complaints!"
I had a great tour of this community. The staff were welcoming and gave my parents and me a detailed tour of their facility, answering all our questions. They were punctual and had lots of information ready for us. Overall, it's a great place, but not the right fit for my mom and dad.

"High Prices and Overestimated Care Needs"
When I looked at this place for my mom, I wasn't happy with how much they wanted to charge for any extra help she might need. They were asking me to pay more than a thousand dollars simply to help her move from her regular chair to her electric chair during the day. Plus, I wasn't satisfied with the assessment they made of her. They made it sound like she was in worse shape than she was and needed more care than she did.

"Caring Community with Excellent Staff"
My mom is doing great since moving to this community. It's a nice place, and they've taken good care of us. The staff is excellent, and everyone has been helpful and attentive. The referrals from the Place for Mom representative were also helpful.

"Stroll-Worthy Community!"
I visited the place and the community seemed really nice. It's well-maintained and clean. The only issue for me and my loved one was the lack of a ground-level exit. We need that feature. On the bright side, the prices are good. I'd recommend this place to others.

"Settling In: Adjusting to Assisted Living with Social Progress"
Here's the rewrite: "Everything's good so far. She's finding her way around, starting to talk to others, and joining activities. Food's not her favorite, too plain, but she enjoys her meal companions. She's adjusting well.

"A Caring Haven for Loved Ones"
The staff at Legacy Pointe in Waukee is super nice and helpful. The place is really clean and cozy. The food is like what you'd find in a hospital. Some residents struggle with the meals because they can't cut their meat or handle small containers. They offer computer classes, but when we checked, it was dark and empty. Overall, they do a pretty good job considering all the different personalities they deal with.

"Highly recommend The Legacy!"
Both of my parents are at The Legacy. Dad was in skilled nursing for 6 months and has been in assisted living for over 2 years. My mother has been in memory care for 2 years as well. I've seen staff change a lot, which is my only concern. Despite that, all staff have been wonderful, informative, and attentive to my parents' health issues. The facility is beautiful, the food is great, and it's very clean. They've added many activities over the years. Most importantly, I've always received immediate updates if there were any issues with my parents. The Legacy is a great place, and I highly recommend it.

"Perfect Choice"
Even with the construction going on, our first impression of Legacy Pointe was really good. The facilities are great, and the friendly staff is professional. Ward, the point man, did an excellent job showing us around. His knowledge and reassuring manner made it easy for us to decide to move my mother there. She's been a resident for two weeks, and everything has been smooth.

"Poor Care, Needs More Staff and Better Amenities"
The care here isn't that great. They really need to have more staff and keep them around. If you wanted to transfer to an independent living situation, you'd be on a waitlist. Plus, they're lacking a pool and any kind of wellness center.
