"Friendly staff, but food issues and unmet promises"
The staff is mostly friendly. The biggest problem is the food. It is often served at the wrong temperatures, sometimes cold. We were told they would make my mom's favorite meal within the first few weeks, but that hasn't happened, and she's been there for months. It feels like they say one thing but do another.

"Unsatisfied: Hospice Care Salvaged Poor Assisted Living Experience"
We truly believe we didn't receive what we paid for. Without the hospice staff stepping in to assist, it would've been a horrible time for our family member.

"Great Care and Activities, But Needs Better Transition Guidance"
Strengths: The kitchen is flexible and meets nutritional needs. Caregivers are helpful, willing to go the extra mile, and consistent. Physical, occupational, and speech therapies on site are excellent. The activities are excellent too. The transition was confusing. I had to learn by experience. When the fire alarm went off, I had no idea what to do. It would be helpful to have written instructions to refer to.

"Not clean, short-staffed, promised improvements"
This has not been as great as I thought it would be. The place is not clean, they are short-staffed, and they haven't followed through on their promises. I have met with them about my concerns, and they committed to improvement. That's why I would rate them 3 out of 5.

"Nice Place!!"
I recently toured this community with my mother, and I was happy with our visit. The staff arrived on time for our appointment and did an excellent job with the presentation. They answered all my questions thoroughly. The property was clean, and we liked the open floor plan. Ultimately, we chose a different place that was slightly more updated and newer.

"Caring Staff at New Assisted Living Facility!"
My mom stayed here for a bit and I liked it. It's a newer place, so they're fixing stuff, but mostly it was good. The people who work there were helpful, and I felt okay with how they took care of her. I'd suggest it for someone looking for a place for their family member.

"Visited Vintage Hills: Nice, but Disappointing Communication"
I visited Vintage Hills at Prairie Trail. The place was nice, clean, and most people were friendly. Unfortunately, some places didn't return my call after evaluating my mother, which was disappointing.

"Impersonal Atmosphere in Nationwide Assisted Living Facility"
This place feels like it's part of a big company, not like a cozy home.

"Short Stay"
During our six-week stay at Vintage Hills, everything was wonderful. The community is clean, the staff is helpful, and the care provided met our needs.

"Beautiful community"
This place is really nice! The staff are always friendly and helpful. What I like most is that it feels open, with plenty of room to walk around without bumping into people. My mom can get her indoor walking done here, even during the cold Iowa winter. The only downside is that the meals can be hit or miss.
