"Take time, visit, talk, check agency for complaints."
For anyone else looking, take your time during the search. Visit more than once. Try to chat with residents and healthcare workers if you can. Also, find the agency that oversees and regulates these facilities and see if there are any complaints.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"
We liked the community, but they lacked the medical equipment my loved one needed. Carlo was great during the tour.

"Safety Concerns and Refund Issues at Garnet Place Assisted Living"
Our experience at Garnet Place was short. At first, everything seemed okay. But after just one day, our family member left unnoticed and was found in the parking lot. They said they couldn't care for her and didn't refund our upfront payment. Friendly at first, but not helpful or kind when we left.

"Facility Lacks Memory Care for Mom"
The meeting was good. The facility is nice, but we couldn't see any activities because of Covid. They don't have Memory care, which we think Mom will need soon. We won't consider this place.

"Caring Staff and Good Food in Friendly Community"
The staff at this place are really caring. They care a lot about older people. They follow up well and do a good job. I picked this community because it's near where I live, the price was right, and they agreed to a short stay. The food was good, nutritious, and nicely served. It's a great choice for a small, friendly community.

"Mom Thrives at Garnet Place"
We’re really happy with my mom’s move to Garnet Place. Her room is nice, and the staff is super friendly and quick to help her. The food could be better, though—they should offer more fresh fruits and veggies during meals. The programs and special events are interesting and family-friendly. Overall, Mom loves living at Garnet Place.

"Assisted living lacked promised social interaction, disappointing experience for family."
When my sister and I took my dad to Garnet, we emphasized his need for social interaction. He enjoys talking and needs people to talk to. They assured us it wouldn't be a problem. However, when I visited the lobby a few days before my dad moved in, I saw several residents just sitting there without interacting. Alarm bells rang in my head. If these were the people my dad was supposed to talk to, we had a problem. I called Garnet to express my concern, but they reassured me once again that it wouldn't be an issue. They assured me there were people for my dad to talk to. However, after moving him in, it became clear very quickly that my dad was feeling depressed because he had no one to talk to. He mentioned that people at the dinner tables didn't talk much. Many of them couldn't hear properly, and some simply didn't respond to his greetings. A month later, I had to move him out to an independent living environment where people were chatting and socializing everywhere. It was a costly mistake for us. I wish Garnet had truly listened to us when we first approached them. Unfortunately, they didn't.

"Excellent Assisted Living Experience with Friendly Staff and Personalization"
The staff at Garnet Place is very friendly to both residents and visitors. They've been patient with my mom as she adjusts to her new home. Before she moved in, they made sure her apartment was in great shape with new carpet, fresh paint, and everything clean. The common areas are also well maintained. When I reported a maintenance issue, they addressed it promptly, within a few days. They had already identified the problem and had ordered the necessary part. My mom seems to enjoy the food, which is a good sign because she would complain if she didn't. I've eaten there too and found the food tasty, but I'd gain weight if I ate there regularly! During meals, staff make sure new residents aren't left out. They greet them by name, find them a seat, and introduce them to others at the table. This helps everyone get to know each other, and I think they steer new residents away from less friendly people. They have activities for residents, and the activity manager, [Removed], is really nice. However, there was one activity we were told about that isn't actually offered group walks on the nearby greenbelt. Maybe I misunderstood, or it was organized by residents and isn't happening anymore. One thing I really appreciate is that residents can personalize their space. My mom, who has memory loss, can place personal items near her door to help her find her way around without needing help. They also allow residents to hang things on walls and ceilings in their rooms without restrictions. Overall, our experience has been extremely positive, and I'm hopeful that my mom will settle in well.

"More of an independent facility"
When I visited, the community seemed nice, with clean rooms and a friendly tour guide. However, they lacked the resources to care for wheelchair users. If you're using a walker, it's not a problem. . 😊

"Visited, Nice, but Pricey"
I visited this place, and it was nice. It felt a bit sterile compared to other places we saw. We didn't see anyone around. Also, it was a bit pricier than I'd prefer.

My aunt is doing great at this place and really likes it. The community is very clean and tidy. The staff is amazing, and she enjoys their company a lot. She is trying out lots of activities. "Friendly staff and good location, but lacking in trash service."
Overall, Garnet Place is a nice place to live if you're not relying on Medicaid. Mom's doing okay there. The staff is super nice and helpful. She likes the food. It's in a great spot, close to lots of stores. The downside is they're not keeping up with emptying her trash like they should, especially since we pay extra for that service.

"Okay Experience, but Needs Cleaner Conditions"
The place was okay, I guess. But we weren't really satisfied with how clean they kept things, especially for my mom. They didn't give her a bath like they were supposed to and they didn't change her clothes or her sheets. On the other hand, everyone was super nice to her and they made sure she took her medicine on time. The meals they served were alright, too.

"Above and Beyond"
The lady I talked to at first was super nice and went above and beyond—I'm not kidding! She was so good that I was excited to meet her. When I arrived, the nurse was also kind and knowledgeable, and the activities director and even the janitor took time to chat with me. We were seriously impressed. It's a really nice place.

"Caring Staff, Food Could Improve at Garnet Place"
They really care about the people who live there. They always ask if there are any problems with the food. My mom is happy there. She enjoys it. My main issue would be the food. I think my mom would be happier if they had a different cook. The staff is very caring and friendly. They are always there to talk to you. Everything has been going well at Garnet Place. It's been good.

"Lamentable Care and Broken Promises at Assisted Living Facility"
The emergency call button was broken and she was left lying in a urine-soaked bed, totally neglected. The staff seemed to be clueless about their responsibility to provide assistance to two people. Apparently, the sales team was more than happy to make promises they couldn't keep, leaving the caregivers in the dark about their expectations. The fact that the facility, with a capacity for forty, had less than twenty occupants should've raised an alarm. Conditions may have improved since then, but I'd recommend deeply scrutinizing the facility before making a decision.

I wanted my parents to go there, but it cost about $1000 more per month. The place was very clean, and the staff was friendly. It was also newer.
