"Facility disappoints with broken promises, TV misuse, and medical oversight."
Things started off well, but after three months, they still haven’t addressed the issues they promised to fix during check-in. I’ve reminded them multiple times. Plus, there was a worker who used my mom’s TV without permission. They also failed to recognize a stroke due to her left body weakness and didn’t call an ambulance. Recently, another worker asked my mom to write a will, giving her dog away.

"Friendly Community with Great Staff!"
I like how it feels like a whole community instead of a hospital-like place. They have lots of activities and are open to more ideas. People move around all day, so you can meet other residents. I really like the director, Jason, and the dining staff. Unfortunately, the PR person left when we signed the contract, but she was a big reason we came here.

"Good care, safe place, nice meals and activities"
My mom is doing well at John M Evans Supportive Living. The staff takes good care of her and communicates well with our family. I would recommend this place; they have good meals and activities for residents. I feel my mom is in a safe place with good care.

"New Ownership Tanks Care Home's Standards, Unimpressed"
Ever since this place switched owners, things have really taken a nosedive. The boss, who's supposed to be in charge, does nothing but scowl all day. They can't even keep the place staffed appropriately. The only slightly decent thing about this place is the food that they're serving. After the holidays, I'm writing a notice 30 days in advance and moving my mom to a better place. I'd seriously steer clear of this facility, if I were you.

"Mixed Experience Initially, Improving Care in Assisted Living Facility"
This place is pretty good overall. At first, we had to remind the staff to give us some of the care they said they would for the first few weeks. But everything is going well now.

"Hillcrest Shines Again with New Team and Great Atmosphere"
I’ve had the chance to get to know everyone at Hillcrest Assisted Living, and I have to say they’re doing an amazing job. The new Administrator really knows her stuff and is always available to help staff, residents, and families. The new Director of Nursing is also excellent at his job. The new Kitchen Manager is doing a fantastic job too. When you walk into Hillcrest, you can tell that both the residents and staff are happy. I’ve been visiting Hillcrest for a couple of years, and since February, this place has been the best. The apartments are really big, and the prices are very reasonable.

"Headline: "Good Value, but Medical Care Could Be Better""
The price listed on Senior Advisor for this assisted living facility isn't right. It's closer to $3000 a month for a private room and basic care. My mom lives here. There's some great things and some not-so-great things about the place. It's a pretty good deal, and that's not easy to find now. There are lots of different types of people who live here, so anyone can find a friend. The rooms are bigger than most and it's in a great spot. Plus, there's a free guest room that's really nice. On the downside, a lot of their workers keep leaving, and that's not good for anyone. I've started to think that if you say anything negative to the people in charge, you might end up in trouble. In my view, the medical care they give isn't great. They've been late with my mom's medicine more than once and she's run out a few times. There was even a time when my mom cut her leg and all they did was put a band-aid on it, no cleaning it or anything. She got a serious infection and it turned into an emergency. If you want to see what their workers say about the place, check out Indeed.com.

"Older facility but very nice, big rooms"
My mom stayed at this older facility for about a week. It was built in the 50s, originally as senior living apartments. I liked the spacious rooms—they were bigger than other places we considered. The kitchenettes were roomy too. The surroundings with lots of big trees looked nice. Although I didn't interact much with the staff due to my vacation, they seemed friendly. Overall, my mom's stay went okay.

"Nice pet-friendly place, bit cheaper but farther away."
We took a tour of this place and thought it looked pretty pleasing. They even allow pets, which is cool. The cost was a bit less than the one we went with but that one was more convenient for me as it was closer to my location.

"Think Twice on Choosing Hillcrest: Thorough Comparison Advised"
I urge you to visit a few facilities before making a decision. Take your own tour, not just the official one they provide. Speak to staff members and care aides. Be keen on the state of cleanliness and the general atmosphere. Are the residents neat? To judge better, someone told me to check their fingernails, teeth, and eyeglasses. If these are in good shape, then it's likely they're well looked-after. After doing your comparisons, you'll quickly realize Hillcrest might not be your best bet.

"Sad Decline in Staffing and Competency in Assisted Living"
This has to be one of the worst run facilities I've ever seen. Can you believe only 2 nurses for 100 residents? That's ridiculous. Having a registered nurse on staff is just a selling point. Where are they when residents need them? They're spread too thin. The certified nursing assistants who give out the medicine seem confused a lot. The head of the place has to ask these assistants about the residents because she doesn't know them! My mom used to love this place 3 years ago. What's changed? They need either more staff or better staff. I don't know how the nurses manage to do their jobs, but at least they understand what's happening.

"Excellent Assisted Living Facility with Caring Staff. Call Today!"
My parents live here. The person who fixes things works really hard to keep everything in good shape. The people who clean the place work really hard too, and they're friendly to everyone. The food is awesome, especially the salad bar and the soup of the day! It's all made with fresh stuff, not from a can. The things you can do here are fun and well-organized. Ursula and Wes are really nice and friendly. Wes reads to people who have trouble seeing well. The people in charge work really hard to make sure everyone is safe and deal with problems older folks might have, like forgetting things, losing friends, or just feeling sad. It's a big job to keep 100 people safe and helped. The people who take care of everyone are really caring. They truly care about the residents and do extra to help out. There are two nurses, Kathy and Marcus, who are friendly and really focused on the residents. You should stop by and meet Becky, the person who helps with marketing. She helped my mom and dad with questions about insurance and other stuff. They're also fixing things up with new paint, floors, and stuff like that.

"State Investigates Incompetent Assisted Living Facility.. Again!"
STATE PROBE AGAIN INTO THE FACILITY! This place is horrifically mismanaged. The carpets are filthy and disgusting, there's a stench in the rooms, and the administrative staff is ridiculously incompetent, the women have no clue about their duties - totally unprofessional. The aides and medical technicians just look at you vacantly when you ask them anything or request for something.

"Mediocre Services, Unclean Environment at Assisted Living Facility"
The tour they gave me of the place was great, and they made a lot of promises about how they'd look after mom, but once we moved her in, it all went downhill. The place is shockingly dirty and grim. The carpets are full of stains all over the building. The residents are seen wearing stained and dirty clothes, and the rooms reek of urine. Unfortunately, Mom is unhappy too. Her call bell goes unanswered and her health condition has worsened. She's also lost some weight. She feels neglected by the administration. Add to this the distasteful and unhealthy food they are being served and you get the overall picture! It’s like the staff just don’t have time for the residents. I’ve seen them idly sitting around chatting while they should be checking on mom, and they even forget to give her medications. Whenever asked something directly, all they offer is a vacant look. It feels like they’re all friends who are just there to hang out and get annoyed when actually having to deal with their responsibilities. The administration isn’t any better either. They don’t interact with the residents unless there are visitors around. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I used the term 'apathetic' to describe them. Even when I addressed these issues with the Administrator, her response was quite defensive and rude, refusing to comprehend or negotiate about what was being asked. An earlier comment about the place being run by a bunch of high schoolers seems just about right, and it seems to go all the way up to the top. The lack of professionalism is beyond disappointing: in mannerisms, attire, and in the way they handle their duties. The administrator’s office even looks like a teenager’s room! Honestly, it appears that they will say anything to convince you to sign their contract. Based on our experiences, I'd say you should definitely consider other options!

"Great place with friendly people, but Internet needs improvement"
I've been here for 10 days and really like it. The residents are super friendly, and the staff is very helpful. The only issue is the Internet—it doesn’t work everywhere in the building. I needed an assisted living facility, and I’m glad my daughter found this one.

"Astonishingly Bad Experiences at Local Assisted Living Facility"
I had to rate it one star for my comments to post. Honestly, this place is like a daycare for adults. It feels like none of the workers there know what they're up to. I noticed residents often being overlooked by the staff. On top of that, some rooms smell strongly of pee. When you try to get a nurse's help, if they don't recognize you or simply don't like you, you can forget about it. They'll just give you a bewildered stare like they're lost. And don't get me started on the missing pain medication ignoring situations if you're not a so-called favorite! I'd never suggest anybody to use this facility. I've observed the place for roughly three years, even noticed state officials come and go more than the families of residents do. In those three years, they've changed directors three times. It's no surprise we eventually left and don't plan on returning ever!

"Above Acceptable Care Hidden By Assisted Living Facility Facades"
No stars for this place but I had to put one down just so my review would post. This is hands down the worst assisted living I've ever seen. Sure, it looks nice during walk-throughs and all the residents you see are smiling away. The ugly truth is hidden behind closed doors. My mom lived there for over three years until she died. Near the end she couldn't even walk. Hillcrest claimed they'd be able to care for her. Her room was filled with the constant stench of pee. After she passed, they finally got rid of their director. Think he was the fifth one in only three years. I can't even keep track. And they can't keep their nurses or staff. They come and go so often. Bottom line is--you don't truly comprehend the reality until you're inside coping with the level of care required.

"Great at first, but went downhill with new nurse."
We had a great time initially at this assisted living facility. Everything changed when the nurse, Pam, who was fantastic, left and was replaced by a new one who wasn't good at all. They also had a meeting with the residents where the ombudsman was present, and warned everyone about increasing the fees if anyone complained. This whole experience was a while ago, so things might have improved since then. The quality of this place really depends on the staff.

"A Happier Experience"
My mother-in-law has already made friends, and it's only been a week. Everyone is very nice, and the food is much better than some other places we've visited. She enjoys playing bingo and having a little patio off her apartment. The grounds are well taken care of. We had a few issues getting her medications on time, but things have improved.

"Clean, well-managed assisted living with varied amenities and costs."
This assisted living place is really nice. It's always clean and the people who run it do a good job. They've got some units on the ground floor that have patio doors, which is cool. They serve three meals a day and sometimes have BBQs, plus they have activities. The price goes up a little every year, usually between 3-6%. Right now, there are about 23 older folks living here for retirement and about 50 more getting some extra help. They clean the rooms and do laundry once a week. If you want to get your hair done at the salon, it's around $13-15, but if you want a perm, that's $35. Cable TV is free, but if you want a phone in your room, it's $20 a month. If you have a guest stay over, it's $50. The room itself costs $2500, and if there's a second person, it's another $500. You can bring a pet, but I'm not sure if you're responsible for doing your own laundry, including the linens and towels.
