"Assisted Living Facility Near Home Receives High Recommendation"
I recommend it to others. It's been good. We chose this place for my loved one because it's close to my house. The staff is friendly. There's indoor parking. My dad really liked it.

"Mixed experience with assisted living: nice facility, but poor meals."
The food isn't good for seniors. It's not healthy and low quality. But the apartment was nice and staff were friendly.

"Tour Guide Unprepared at Nice Assisted Living Facility"
My family visited this place in person. It seemed nice, but the person showing us around seemed unprepared. They didn't have anything ready when we got there.

"Nice but too far away"
I had a virtual tour because it was during the pandemic. The facility looked new and very nice, but it was too far away for me.

"Limited Services and High Fees"
The community didn't ask us any important questions. In a few minutes, they told me what they couldn't do instead of what they could. The common areas in the assisted living section were small. The fees were too high for us.

"The American House lacks vital staff, lacks cleaning, and overcharges."
This place is awful. Some of my family members live at the American House in Plainfield, and I'm not impressed at all. They don't have any kitchen or cleaning staff. They're supposed to get two meals in the dining room every day, but that's a total joke! They've been eating from Styrofoam containers for months because there's no one in the kitchen. People quit all the time, and even the front office staff has to help out in the kitchen. They've lost two chefs recently! The rooms are supposed to be cleaned twice monthly – another joke. We're lucky if it happens once a month! Worst of all, they raised the rent during the pandemic – even though they were providing less services and only giving out Styrofoam-boxed meals because they had no staff. They barely have any activities either. Then, they raised the rent again for the new year by 6%, despite not providing any benefits for a whole year! I can't figure out where all the rent money has gone, considering they haven't been paying for kitchen or housekeeping staff. If you really care for your family members, don't let them move into American House. They just take advantage of people, caring only about making money without providing the necessary help when residents need it.

"Disappointed with overpriced, understaffed facilities and uncaring management."
My family has been at the American House in Plainfield for two and a half years. Initially everything was great but things started to deteriorate quickly. There were no kitchen and housekeeping staff until recently which meant front office employees had to chip in at the dining room! Furthermore, they increased the rent during the COVID crisis and have done it again, hiking it up by 6% this year! For what reason? They haven't paid their staff for over a year and it certainly doesn't seem like they are using the money to improve the seniors' living conditions! Even after raising these issues with the higher-ups, no actions seem to be taken! Several seniors are being exploited and the management does not seem to care one bit! The only good things about this place are the nice residents and the delightfully helpful front office staff. If you're considering coming here, I strongly urge you to reconsider. These properties are not only overpriced but they also do not offer the services and activities they promise. Top all of this off with their non-responsive management and you have yourself a facility that I am very disappointed with and recommend against!

"Visited Facility – Neat, Pushy Sales, and Free Pie"
When I visited this place, it was neat and really nice. It felt more like a place for people who can live on their own, but we needed a place where help was available. There was a weird smell that I didn't quite like. The people who work there were nice, but they talked a lot about buying, which felt pushy. They gave us a tasty pie when we were leaving.

"Friendly Staff and Good Amenities, But Could Be Improved"
During my visit, the folks I met were nice. This place looks like it has fun stuff to do and some cool extras. They even let you bring your pets along, and they'll give you a ride if you need one. Overall, it's alright, but there's room for improvement.

"Great Care, Friendly Staff, Clean, and Fun"
The caregivers at this place are really great. The nurse and the certified nursing assistant are fantastic. The whole staff is friendly and pays close attention. The executive director who was here when we moved in was super helpful. Mom loves the activities, and Dad is just starting to join in. The food is pretty good, and they keep everything clean. The apartment is a nice size, and some of their friends live here too.

"Comfortable and Welcoming Assisted Living: Homelike Atmosphere and Pleasant Staff"
The people at American House are really nice and helpful. Moving in went smoothly, and my mom's place is comfy with all the rooms she needs. The staff always talk positively about the place, which is great. The only downside is the view from her apartment isn't the best. But management is planning to fix it with some landscaping. Every time I visit, the place is super clean. And the meals I've had with my mom were good and just the right size.

"Mixed Feelings: Assisted Living Boasts Many Perks, Some Downsides"
GOOD POINTS: It's super neat, has many choices and layouts, has a nurse, and all bills (even cable) and breakfast are covered. BAD POINTS: The main food hall, hair-cut spot, and health center (where the nurse is) are not between the two buildings. The elderly person would need to walk long hallways to reach the other side. But, the staff is nice overall, and the residents seem happy and chatty. It feels just like an apartment building, and it's safe with a security guard there.

"Best Move for a Carefree Retirement"
My parents needed a clean, safe place to move. They were nervous about selling their home and moving. As my dad had a hard time meeting my mom’s needs, it became clear to us all that it was time for a change. Now, they’re at Cedarlake Village and love it! They enjoy the restaurant, some of the social events, quiet reading by the fire, and the heated parking garage. The place is beautifully painted and decorated, and the building is well kept. The management genuinely cares about the residents. Cedarlake Village is a great place for a fun and easy retirement.

"Everything is Fine"
At Cedarlake Village in Painfield, Illinois, everything is good. The staff is great, and the place is wonderful. However, they don’t work with people who have alcohol problems, so we had to find a different place for my dad. Overall, it’s fine.
