"Dreadful Conditions at NP Long Grove Assisted Living"

We first visited NP Long Grove and were told residents are kept busy with activities daily, they get to enjoy fun trips using the facility's van, they serve tasty food, and they take time to understand the needs of residents. These claims were all false. In addition, when we moved our family member in, we discovered there were serious safety problems, poor cleanliness, meals that were just processed, salty and not healthy, changing staff often, and they didn't seem to care much for the residents' welfare. Things were so unacceptable that we had no other option but to take our family member out for her health and security after just six months. This decision was especially challenging considering she suffers from dementia. We regret ever bringing her to New Perspective - her life, and ours have been negatively affected by it. We want to let others know about NP Long Grove so they don't experience the awful situation we did.

"Downturn in Care and Quality at New Perspective Assisted Living"

I'd advise against choosing New Perspective for your loved ones and have already removed our family member from their care. If you need more specifics, [name removed]'s review sums it up well. Once known as Arboria, this place was great, but ever since New Perspective took control, it's been going downhill. The main problems? Not enough attention to residents, too much staff turnover, no fun activities, and no professional chef.

"Mixed Experience: Organized But Not Ideal for Active Residents"

They seemed organized, but we sought elsewhere. Not ideal for assisted living. Recommend only if uninterested in activities.

"Assisted Living Facility Receives High Praise for Bright, Clean Environment"

I've told friends about them and will keep doing so. They're nice and really care about residents. The place was bright, clean, and odor-free. We liked the spacious, cheery atmosphere with tall ceilings.

"New management leads to decline in assisted living facility standards."

This place used to be good, but not anymore. The doors were left open three times, and no one was at the front desk. I told the bosses that if it happens again, I’ll call the police. The managers don’t know what they’re doing, and staff keep leaving. Now, there’s no one to organize activities for the residents who need help. It's a mess. Before, it was nice here, but now it's hard. The food isn’t good, but it's not the chef's fault. He tries his best. My mom and now my mother-in-law stayed here before because it used to be good, but now it's not. There are better places nearby. When I talked to the managers, they didn't listen.

"Nice staff, but place felt gloomy and like a hospital."

Our family visited in person and the staff were very nice, but the place felt like a hospital and was gloomy. We wouldn't want our loved ones to stay there.

"Caring Staff, Good Food, Room for Improvement"

Staff at the facility are great; they really make my mom feel comfortable. The food is good, and there's a variety. Covid is hard on everyone, but they're doing their best. They could communicate more with families and organize more outings. Staff responds quickly to residents' needs. Rooms could be brighter and have larger fridges. The facility is very clean, and management is responsive. Maintenance is prompt. The price is a bit high but comparable to others in the area.

"Timely Medication Not Provided Here"

This place doesn't provide timely medical care. If you count on your meds, don't choose here.

"Lackluster Care Led to Forceful Relocation for Mother's Safety."

The place looks pleasant and the food is pretty tasty. Most people there are also kind, which made my mom's experience enjoyable for a couple of weeks. She participated in many different activities. However, we had a serious problem. The CEO or head nurse didn't seem bothered about ensuring my mom received her Parkinson's meds on schedule. There were several times when myself or other family members had to hunt down her medications after waiting over an hour. Despite my emails emphasizing punctuality, nothing changed. Her health deteriorated fast and she was frequently taken to the hospital within a span of two to three weeks. Eventually, she was moved to a skilled nursing rehab facility and then to another assisted living home, which is much more reliable. I personally don't believe this is a secure place for anyone who needs their meds within a specific timeframe. It's honestly disappointing.

"Better options for the price"

I was looking at places for my folks and this one seemed nice, but it wasn't the right fit. The room was smaller than others we saw and cost a lot more for the same care. So, we had to pass. Maybe it's better for someone living alone, not for couples.
