Azpira Place Lake Zurich

"Room for Improvement"
Mom moved to Azpira in,upgrading from another facility. Our main issue from day one has been getting responses to emails and phone calls. Despite following the communication protocol, staff rarely return messages unless escalated to the Executive Director (who has left). A recent 9% rent increase aims to maintain their 'excellent' staff. Communication feels like pushing a rope. Room for improvement.

"Nice Facility, Not Ideal for My Mom's Needs"
This place was nice, but it wasn't right for my mom.

"Home-Like Atmosphere with Fun Activities"
I think this place is great for loved ones. The staff and residents are friendly, and it feels relaxed. They offer fun activities like live music, cocktail parties, art, movies, and games.

"Assisted Living Community Review"
The community is really nice, but they could communicate better. The rooms are a good size, and I would suggest this community to others.

"Newer, brighter facility with excellent food and spacious rooms"
We picked Azpira Place because it was newer and brighter. It felt more like a hotel than a nursing home when we visited. The rooms are spacious, and the chef-prepared meals were excellent. I dined with my mom several times and enjoyed the food. Overall, we highly recommend it.

"Great Place for Aging Parents Prepare for Waitlist"
This place is definitely a top contender. We liked everything about it and felt very welcome. The staff member was incredible! We saw the facility that can take care of both of my parents' needs. The downside is the waiting list, which could be as long as 90 days or more.

"Exceeded expectations, friendly staff, and mom is happy."
This facility has been a great choice for my mother. It has met and even exceeded our expectations. The staff is very detail-oriented, friendly, and caring. The facility is clean and well-maintained. The care assistants are courteous and efficient. My mother has made many friends among the residents, and she stays active. My brothers and I are pleased with how well she has adjusted and embraced her new routines. The food is generally very good, and the dining experience is well planned. My mother has a small complaint about the dining room being too slow, but I think it's because many residents eat at the same time, which can slow things down. Overall, the care staff is attentive, though there have been occasional delays. My mother seems quite happy living here, with both the residents and the staff.

"Great care and facilities, but dining service could be faster"
This facility has been a wonderful choice for my mother. It has met and even surpassed our expectations. The staff pays close attention to details, and they are friendly and caring. The place is very clean and well-kept. The care assistants are courteous and efficient. My mother has made many friends among the residents and her days are usually busy. My brothers and I are very happy with how well our mother has adjusted to her new home and routines. The food is generally very good, and the dining experience is well planned. My mother does feel that the dining room service is too slow, but I haven’t noticed this when I eat with her. It might be because many residents want to eat at the same time, which could slow things down. Also, patience can be a bit scarce in this age group. Sometimes the care staff is a bit slow in responding to requests, but overall they are attentive. My mother seems quite happy living here with both the residents and staff.

"Clean, Caring, and Fun for Parents"
A Place for Mom was really helpful to me in finding this great community for my parents. I like that they have a nurse there all the time, and they always help my parents right away. It's also good that they make sure my parents take their medicine correctly. The food there is really good too. There are so many activities for them to do; my dad loves playing poker, and my mom loves playing volleyball with balloons in the class. They both enjoy the Happy Hour on Fridays! Mom is getting her hair done again. They look good and feel good there. Everything is kept so clean and well taken care of. I would suggest this place and have already told one of my close friends about A Place for Mom.

"New Assisted Living, Still Needs Time to Settle"
Pros: Very new, opened in May 2017. [Removed] was delightful. Darling Bistro when you enter. 1-bedroom is roomy with a Juliette balcony, very nice. Competitive pricing. Has only 30+ residents, with 25+ more moving in. Intimate foyer and restaurant-style dining. Exercise classes every morning like chair yoga and light weights. "VIVA Program" sounds good for a healthy lifestyle but not really set up yet. Salon on site, open 1 day a week. $1,000 deposit to hold the room, applied to rent. Meds included in the price, pre-packed by pharmacy and given by Nursing Assistant. Each resident gets a Life Alert pendant. Residents are checked on 4 times a day. 5 minutes from LBS-Miller & Rand, close to her friends ([Removed]). After 2 years, they accept Medicare/Medicaid, which others don't do. Cons: No Memory Care. Still getting set up, Bistro not opened yet, no bridge group yet, and getting a rescue dog when more residents move in. 120+ rooms, but only 30+ residents with 25+ still moving in. No library on site. Some, but not much, outdoor seating. Nursing 7 days a week during the day, NA 24/7. Overall: I liked it a lot, but is no Memory Care a deal breaker? It needs more time to get established and work out the kinks before I'd see Mom there. We can check it again when it's time to move Mom.
