"Visit Often to Ensure Quality Care"
I'd suggest to a buddy that it's best to swing by the place every couple of days, just to make sure they're really looking after your family right.

"Affordable Assisted Living with Minor Challenges"
The meals are homemade and portions are good. But there were a few issues with medication management when we moved in. Now it's better. We chose this place mainly because of the cost. My mom pays $ month for her own studio apartment, 3 meals a day, medication help, 2 assisted showers weekly, and housekeeping.

"Assisted Living: Quick Help, Limited Updates, Mixed Food, Tidy Environment"
When we press the help button, they come in 1-3 minutes. The staff is usually nice and helpful, but they don't keep us informed unless we ask. It would be good if they checked in with us regularly to talk about our family member's care. Some say the food quality changes, but there are many options. The cleaning is okay, maybe even better than most places.

"Unsafe Conditions and Poor Communication at Assisted Living Facility"
We were never let in. They woke us up with a phone call, telling us our family member had died. They waited 10 hours before telling us they found her flat on the ground, face first. I wouldn't suggest anyone send someone they care about here. Moreover, I later learned there were rumors of a male employee behaving inappropriately with residents. This place should have been closed a long time ago.

"Responsive care with good communication, but lacking online monitoring cameras."
Overall, Bickford cares well for my mom with good communication. They've resolved initial issues promptly, and activities suit her well. I'd like online cameras to check on her in common areas.

"Assisted Living Facility Fails Horribly on Basic Care and Communication"
This place is nothing but a sham. I would certainly refuse to ever trust them with someone I cared about again. We popped in unannounced and what we saw horrified us. Without taking a second thought, we moved my grandmother out the very next day. They served her coffee, which she is expressly forbidden from having due to health issues, and they were well aware of this. Her socks were soaked with dead skin, suggesting they hadn't been changed in a ridiculously long time. Equally, her oral hygiene had undoubtedly been ignored as her mouth shouldn’t smell that bad. Her adult diapers were too tight and we were never informed to switch her size. Her legs were swollen as they were not elevated as they should have been. Instead of encouraging her to exercise as planned, they neglected her to sit in a chair all day. Worst of all, she had a severe urinary tract infection that was so intense one could smell it just standing near her. The deplorable conditions they allowed her to endure made me tearful. We immediately took her to a doctor who confirmed and treated her terrible infection. If you hold absolutely no regard for your loved one, then by all means, trust this facility. They may put on happy faces and maintain a outwardly nice appearance, but they do not take care of those entrusted to them. Be forewarned.

"Friendly Staff, But Pricey and Far"
At Bickford, a nice young woman showed us around and gave us a great talk. She took lots of time with us and answered all our questions. But, the place cost more than we wanted to spend, and it was too far from where we wanted to be.
