"Mixed feelings about Bickford of St. Charles"
I think Bickford of St. Charles is a good place to recommend to others, but there are some things that could be better. Many of the staff members don't stay long, which can be frustrating. The food is not very good, but they are trying to improve it, so we are trying to be understanding. The staff members are really nice and helpful, though. They are doing their best to take care of everyone. However, it is quite expensive to live there.

"Issues with Special Care and Communication at Bickford Assisted Living"
At Bickford, there are lots of good things like yummy food choices. However, when it comes to taking care of someone with special needs, it's not so great. The people who work there sometimes forget to help with medical and physical stuff. They say they have enough staff, but sometimes it's hard to get help, especially because the folks on different shifts don't always talk to each other properly.

"Top Care and Comfort at a Price"
This community is quite pricey, but they really watch over our loved one. The staff is super caring and helpful, and the care they give is top-notch.

"Friendly Staff and Good Care in New Assisted Living Facility"
Overall, this place is pretty good. It doesn't cost too much, and it's newer than a lot of others nearby. Everyone who works there is really nice and they really care about the people who live there. The food is decent. The rooms are a decent size, but the one-bedroom apartments are a bit small for two people. I have been impressed with how they are dealing with Covid-19.

"Great place with friendly staff, fun activities, and good food"
We love this place for our mom. She has been here. There are lots of activities and things to do. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is great, and the nurses remind everyone about the day's activities. Her room is big and has a nice window. Residents enjoy the new furniture, TVs, and carpet. We really like this place! Thanks to “A Place For Mom” for guiding us here.

This was one of our favorite retirement homes that we visited. The staff was knowledgeable, accommodating and very friendly. We have set up an appointment next week to take my husband’s mother to see the facility and be assessed. They have a lot of fun activities every day.

"Avoid: Insufficient Staffing Risks Safety of Those Needing More Care"
This place doesn't have enough staff, which makes it dangerous for those who require more than just basic care.

"Bickford Facility: Good But Too Many Stairs"
We checked out Bickford of St. Charles, and even though it looked good, it wasn't right for us because of all the stairs. We chose another place that fits our needs better.

"Doing Well"
The assisted living place is lovely, and Mom seems happy there. The new manager is awesome, but Mom isn't a fan of the food—she'd rather eat my wife's cooking. We feel reassured knowing Mom receives good care.

"Helpful Guidance and Positive Impressions at Bickford Assisted Living"
The staff was really nice and taught me a lot. She spent more than 2 hours explaining how assisted living and memory care work and where my Mom might fit best. The Bickford is nice, seemed new, clean, and bright. The memory care part is small with few residents. It looked a bit messy, but I heard it's to help with memories. We're thinking about choosing the Bickford for my Mom.

"Good Staff and Food, But Rooms Lacked Appeal"
I visited this place thinking about care for my mom. However, the rooms just didn't fit our expectations. Something was missing, it didn't give off the right vibe. Yet, the staff was really nice, and the food options looked good. We would suggest for other families to check out this place for their loved ones.

"Considerate and Friendly Assisted Living Community"
I visited this place for my mom. Everything went smoothly. It's a nice community. The staff I met were friendly and kind. Overall, it was a good experience. We considered many factors for my mom's move. Although we didn't choose this place, it's still a good community with nice people.

"Bickford of St. Charles: A Helping Hand in Tough Times"
This place has been super helpful as my dad's health has changed unexpectedly. We had to bring in hospice, and they were there for us every step of the way. But, I gotta say, sometimes it feels like they're a bit short-staffed. There are moments when I worry my dad isn't getting the quick attention he needs. But hey, I guess that's a problem you might find anywhere. Still, overall, things at Bickford of St. Charles have been really good. I'd totally recommend them to others.

"Not Worth Your Money - Empty Promises Abound!"
This place seriously costs too much. Amy Orlando will tell you whatever you need to hear just so she can take your money. She doesn't care about anything else. Half of their workers don't have a clue what they are doing. With the outrageous amount they're charging, the residents need to receive a whole lot better treatment. I wouldn't endorse this place at all. You're better off looking somewhere else!

"Great Care, Some Concerns"
I believe this place is just as good as any other. It's safe, clean, and the staff is attentive. The only issue is residents with Alzheimer's intermingling, which can be disconcerting for new residents. Overall, we're pretty happy.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Home's Management and Services"
My experience with this assisted living home is mixed. I can't compare it to other homes because I don't have personal experience elsewhere. My main issue is the poor communication. Even though I know who to reach out to for my questions, I've sent emails and phone calls that get no responses. I've also written a letter detailing my issues, but this was ignored, too. They told me the food was going to be amazing when I visited. Having had about five meals, I can say it's not. Another problem is that they don't serve drinks like water until everyone at the table is almost done eating. I've brought this up to the management, but nothing's changed. The residents, many of whom have hearing difficulties, aren't properly accommodated by the young staff. It seems that they don't know how to adequately communicate with the elderly population.

"A Great New Home for Mom"
My sister and I looked at many places before choosing Bickford of St. Charles, IL for our mom. The staff was super friendly and gave us lots of helpful information during our visit. The facility is very clean and feels like a fancy but cozy home, with plenty of open spaces and several nice fireplaces. The dining room is really comfortable, and residents get to pick their meals from a menu. Each apartment is spacious and designed for convenience. You can bring your own furniture, which makes it feel more like home. The rooms have big windows that let in lots of natural light. They also offer housekeeping and laundry services, which makes life easier for residents. Our mom has only been there for two weeks and is having a bit of trouble getting used to her new home, but the staff is helping her adjust. She’s 89 and used to live on her own, and she has some dementia, so it’s a bit challenging for her. However, my sister and I feel confident that Bickford is the best choice for our mom’s health, safety, and well-being.

This place is new, with about 30 residents. The common areas and rooms are nice, but the front door is always locked, and there's no front desk.
