"Facility Misuses Medication, Falls Short in Resident Care"
My mom, who has Alzheimer's, was wrongly diagnosed as having seizures just so they could give her medicine to keep her from wandering in the memory care unit. This happened after they found out she had eaten something really gross. This medication caused her to feel dizzy and constantly fall. Her liver wasn't doing too well either. All of this happened because the facility refused to hire enough people to properly look after its residents. I would strongly advise against letting any of your loved ones stay here. While it looks decent from the outside, the people running this place are not to be trusted.

"Too Expensive and Understaffed, Lacks Proper Care and Cleanliness"
If you're looking for a place that offers proper care for those who struggle with memory issues, this isn't it. They just don't have enough staff, which really hurts the care given to patients. Plus, it's pretty expensive to live here and not really worth it. There's no fun activities or socializing to help residents enjoy life. The rooms aren't kept clean either. There are just too many problems to list here. There's also a big issue with staff leaving too often.

"Short Staffed Overnight but Good Food and Activities for Residents"
The assisted living community doesn't have enough staff in general. At night, there are fewer staff members compared to the daytime. The food is tasty, and they offer residents a wide selection of meals. Activities like exercises, games, outings, and social events are provided for the residents to enjoy.

"Bickford Assisted Living: A Disappointingly Inept Facility"
In January, I thought I was doing the right thing when I moved my mom into Bickford. She required memory care, something they told me wasn't necessary, that she was merely an assisted living case. However, just a day later, they demanded she move to the memory care section. The first time I saw this wing, it had a nasty urine smell and didn't look as lovely as the rest of the place that they proudly show off on your initial visit. Basically, it felt like they tricked us. And unfortunately, things got even worse. My mom ended up with numerous skin tears that were overlooked unless I pointed them out. She suffered a fall from her bed, resulting in a broken finger and a dreadful bruise on her arm. Nobody at the facility could enlighten me on how these incidents occurred. Even though the management boasts of running an efficient establishment, they never managed to resolve any issues. Furthermore, my mom's room often had a foul smell from dirty laundry that sat neglected for too long. The food there is awful. Without the involvement of hospice, the nursing staff seemed entirely lost. Eventually, I had no other option but to move my mom back home. Don't let Bickford's exterior presentation fool you. The staff and the facility simply are not up to par.

"Welcoming Environment but Room for Improvement"
This place is friendly. Staff greet you nicely and chat. They're helpful if you need more time or info. Residents are always tidy and assisted. The meals could have more variety and taste. Not sure if they're always made here. Activities are regular but suit residents' skills.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Promises and Quality"
I lived at Bickford since [Removed]. We moved in two weeks after signing the contract. Bickford cost almost $2,000 more than a similar place, but we expected better care due to fewer residents and promises of more attention. Initially, promises were made but soon it became clear that the staff was disorganized and poorly managed. Despite numerous complaints, little changed, and excuses were common. My original contract was lost, and my family had to sign a replacement. Moving in was difficult because staff couldn't disable the backdoor alarm, causing constant noise. The nursing staff did well overall, but turnover among CNAs affected care. The facility lacked maintenance staff for months, and housekeeping was neglected. The activities coordinator tried hard, but overall, the facility seemed understaffed. Staff didn't consistently assist with showers or laundry. Medication management was a challenge, with shortages and delays that led to health issues. The kitchen staff was a major problem, with poor hygiene and badly cooked food. Many residents complained, but improvements were lacking. CNA's had access to personal information, a security concern. Incidents, like a resident hitting me, were poorly handled by management. Despite patience, issues didn't improve, leading us to move out with a 30-day notice.

"Welcoming Assisted Living with Tasty Food and Activities"
The staff is friendly and easy to talk to. This community provides memory care and assisted living, and the different areas connect well. The food is tasty, with healthy choices available. They organize daily activities and bring in entertainers. Residents can enjoy the enclosed courtyard. I recommend their smaller memory care unit.

"Great Tour, Beautiful Place, but Too Expensive"
I loved Bickford of Tinley Park when I visited. The facility is beautiful, and the person who gave us the tour was very nice. It was a good experience, and we would have loved to choose this place, but it was more expensive than we could afford.

"Mixed Feelings About Bickford's Care Costs"
The Bickford felt like a spot where we'd have to hire a pricey nurse for extra care. We simply wanted a place with transparent costs.
