"Friendly Staff, But Too Big and Pricey"
This community had friendly staff, but it felt too large for our loved one, and the cost exceeded our budget.

"Earns a Measly 2.5 Stars: Assisted Living Facility with Many Flaws"
The furnishings in this place surely have had their glory days. A lot of the communal property and appliances are just old. Considering the cost, the residents deserve better equipment. The corridors are dim, making it hard to get around. Elevators are slow with just two main lifts available. The whole place is carpeted, which makes it look really dated and gloomy. They shutter the restaurants before 7pm. Often, there's no food available and you can't take food to your room without additional cost. The activity center shuts at 7pm too. If you're an active and sharp senior, this place is not your speed. Other facilities in this area have a younger average resident age - try those. I should also mention that I saw bugs and dirt quite often. You also need to watch out for their leasing practices. They tend to bend the rules about when a lease can start. A lot of their services cost extra. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're an active senior with a zeal for a healthy lifestyle. There aren't any safe places to walk outside. The view is pretty bleak. Without their shuttle service, you'll feel marooned in a place that effectively closes at 7pm. This isn't where I'd want my family to live.

"Great place for loved ones with engaging activities and pets."
My loved one really enjoys the food and the dining area. They have fun activities every day, and the staff is friendly and makes sure to involve her. Everything is kept very clean. The only thing that could be better is the communication with the sales counselor. But they offer bus rides for shopping, and they allow pets, which is great. I would definitely recommend this place.

"Okay Spot for Short-term Stays, But Food Could Be Better"
We put my dad here for short-term care while we were on vacation, and it seemed to go okay. He didn't need to join any activities there because his family came to take him out and keep him entertained. He didn't like the food, according to him. But the staff were kind and pleasant. The place looked clean and well-kept. I'd suggest them for short-term stays.

"Mom loves it here and feels right at home!"
My mom is really enjoying this place and settled in smoothly. She loves the apartment's layout and the lively entrance and lobby. There are lots of fun activities, including her favorite—water aerobics—she does several times a week. The other residents have been amazing, making her feel welcome and at home. I couldn’t have chosen a better place for her.

"Not Quite Homey"
The Brookdale was pleasant, but the layout didn't suit me. The halls were confusing, and it lacked the cozy feel of other places we considered.

"Review of Brookdale Des Plaines: A 4 Star Assisted Living"
I visited the facility and plan to bring Mom soon. It's conveniently close. Mom's friends are there, but I'm unsure about available studio space.

"Communication Lacking, but Friendly Staff and Activities Abound at Facility"
Sometimes they don't communicate well, but overall it's okay. There are plenty of things to do for the people living here, and the workers are nice except for the communication problems. The place is also really clean. It's a good place to be.

"Great for fit seniors, not for ones needing nursing care"
This place is perfect for older people who can move around easily and don't have many health problems. The apartments are a bit too small, but there's lots for people who are always looking for things to do and company. This isn't a suitable choice for older parents who need regular help or any kind of nursing or rehab treatment. That's why the review is kind of low... it wasn't what I needed.

"Traditional Nursing Home Vibe with Train-Track Noise"
We visited this place with our family members in mind and realized it wasn't a good fit for them. The other people living there appeared to be older than our family members. The workers were nice and welcoming, we had no issues there. But, the place looked and smelled like what you'd expect from an old-style nursing home. Just by watching how people acted there, you could tell it was more like a traditional nursing home. Plus, the building is close to some train tracks which could get noisy and irritating.

"Positive First Impressions, Room for Improvement in Communication"
My parent moved into Heritage less than 2 months ago, so I can't give a full review yet. It takes about 6 months to really know a place. So far, everything seems good. The food is tasty! They could improve communication after moving in and double-check the monthly statements.

"Great Location, Food, and Transportation"
The buddy system is awesome! When new residents arrive, they get paired up with a buddy, which helps them make friends. The bus services are super flexible, and it’s easy to get around. The food is really tasty and healthy. Plus, there’s a cute little market store. The location is fantastic—you can walk to places and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

"Suburban Charm: A Peaceful Retreat for Seniors and Nature Lovers"
This assisted living facility, belonging to the same company as Devonshire, offers a comparable level of excellence and activity. Situated in a suburban-rural setting, it features a picturesque big pond with a walking path around it in the backyard, and it's conveniently located across the street from a forest preserve. The thought of enjoying the beautiful view of the trees during spring and fall seasons delighted me, especially considering how much my mom loves nature.
