"Friendly Assisted Living for Seniors"
The people living at Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes are older than my parents expected. The sales representative gave helpful information and checked in after we moved in to make sure everything was as promised. All the staff have been friendly, especially the maintenance team. However, the dining room has had some issues with staffing, affecting weekend service. Overall, I recommend this community, but it's best suited for older residents.

"Great Assisted Living Community with Fantastic Staff and Location!"
I believe they should have more staff during meals; it takes a while to get served. Still, I'd recommend this community to other families—I adore living here. The staff members are fantastic, and the location is excellent! Century Park is a wonderful place to walk to.

"High Fees"
I visited this place. It’s really nice, but the community fee is quite steep at $3,500.

"Abundance of Activities in Assisted Living Facility"
While looking for a place for my family member, we didn’t visit many spots. But when we checked out this one, my family member immediately wanted to stay here. Then we started the process. When you step inside, it feels like walking into a fancy hotel at Disney. Everything is tidy and they decorate for holidays. They had Halloween decorations up and now they’re gearing up for Thanksgiving. The staff really pays attention to the people who live here, which is great. There are lots of things for residents to do. They have morning exercise class every day at 9:30am, a gym if you want to exercise on your own, bingo, movie nights, concerts every Saturday, and outings once a week. The outings might be going to restaurants or shopping at the mall. There's also a hairdresser on site, and we found out that my family member’s doctor has an office here too. It’s been really convenient. The food is good, it feels like eating at a restaurant. They give you a menu and change the options every day. The residents get a well-balanced diet with the choices they offer. Overall, I would recommend this place to others.

"In-Law Settling In Nicely at This Community"
My relative is still getting used to living here, but we feel good about it. They've made some new friends, and they like the food. The staff is nice and making sure they have everything they need. We know they're safe and well taken care of here.

"Pay Extra for Added Care at this Tidy, Active Facility"
The workers at this place seem alright. They have fun stuff to do every day and the place is kept neat. The meals served are tasty and good for you. But, the price of staying here doesn't cover everything. If you have extra cash, they charge for more care services. I'd suggest this place if your budget allows.

"Great Tour but Not the Perfect Fit for Us"
We had a great time touring this place. The people working there were really friendly to me and my family. Everything looked neat and clean. We enjoyed our visit, everything went super smoothly. We were really wowed by what we saw on the tour. There were lots of things to think about when deciding where to move my mom. This place is great, but it just wasn't the right fit for us.

The community has lots of activities both on-site and off-site for residents. During my tour, the guide showed me around, and I met some nice staff. The place looked clean. They also offer meals for residents who want to be on the meal plan.

"Mom Not Encouraged or Socialized at Brookdale Hawthorn."
My mom moved into Brookdale Hawthorn a week ago and we've noticed some issues. Communication among the staff seems pretty poor, especially between shifts. My mom hasn't been encouraged to join in any activities and that's a problem. She's in assisted living because she fell, yet they bring her to the independent area for meals. Other residents in assisted living can be mean, which really sucks. Also, some of the young staff members seem confused about their instructions. But on the bright side, some of the staff are excellent. There's this guy named Jay who's been a great help. And she is also super nice. One thing that scares me is the response time when my mom needs help- it's too slow. She's not getting a chance to socialize much and we really wanted that for her. The staff need to work on coordinating better. We're going to give it a bit more time but might have to find a new place if things don't improve.

"Mixed Results: Assisted Living Facility Falls Short for Mom"
My mom stayed at the assisted living part for half a year. She was never really pleased during that time, which prompted us to search for a different place. We hoped she'd get better and transition to independent living, but as it became clear that wouldn't happen, we needed to find a spot that was more cozy and welcoming. She felt down in this place. It's a pretty location with a lake and all, but it just wasn't the right fit for her. The meals were average. I had to keep a check on the billing as they kept trying to charge extra for certain nursing services I'm certain my mom didn't use. Some nursing and staff were fantastic, others not so much. Some of her therapy services were excellent (shoutout to her physical therapist!), and others were subpar. Also, the place was too spread out and tough for my wheelchair-bound mom. The therapy center was at the other end of the place. We had high expectations, but they fell short for our mom.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
Our family visited this community, and it was nice. Ronda, our guide, was friendly and showed us around well. The place inside is pleasant. They let us customize the room. They offer lots of activities for socializing. It was almost our first choice. The entrance looks like a hospital, which wasn't inviting. Once inside, it's nice, but feels medical.

"Friendly Staff, Worth the Price for Good Care"
I find the staff to be quite friendly. It is pricey, but if my parents are getting good care, it’s worth it.

"Great Activities, But Not For Everyone"
My husband and I lived in a senior residence there. It's not assisted living or anything like that. I liked it a lot, but my husband didn’t, so we decided to move. I really enjoyed the activities they offered. They had exercise classes every day, fun entertainment, themed meals, and little treats. There was always something happening. I still visit for a knitting group.

"Large and sprawling community with resort-like ambiance, navigation challenges."
This place was super huge and spread out, which wasn't what we wanted. It felt more like a fancy resort than a home. I worried that it might be hard for people to find their way around with all the buildings and open spaces.

"Great tour with Ronda. Nice place! Scheduling dad's assessment. Hopeful!"
Took a tour with the staff. The place seems nice. We're planning to schedule an assessment for my dad to see what they think he needs. Hopefully, we can figure something out.
